Creating a new board about merit is also a good idea, and I see that this board will gonna be a source of merit wherein every member will post their postlinks to be checked by a higher rank members in this forum, it's like begging a respect. It will also defeat the purpose of the merit system.

I counted approximately 350 threads only in meta about merit, and it seems that merit threads are popping out in other boards as well.
Can we have new board for merit discussion/ideas/merit sharing etc?
Sorry if someone already mentioned this and I missed it.

Very good idea. I think the "merit issue" is not going to decay, due to the new incomers we all see coming everyday. Nevertheless, I don't believe it will completely solve the problem, for most of the newbies here not even stop and read before posting whatever they have on their minds.
It should be necessary, then, new moderators dedicated to this board to takes the task of moving all new merit topics into the "merit board".
Also, it can be a good place for newbies to achieve their goal of ranking up, for we can give merits to their best threads.

Good point. I would like to see it happening!!

I have a high suspicion that a lot of the accounts that are enrolled in the bounties are owned by the same person anyway.

1 person or multiple?

Quote
But so many newbies on this site only arrived here because of bounty campaigns. Newbies and bounty spammers aren't going to stop making threads about it, and either lobbying for changes or fishing for merit in their OPs

Don't worry people will get bored soon enough and both with the lobby will spread the word it doesn't work anymore to cry about. It's like a DNS propagation it can take some time Grin

That's why I don't think it's going to fade away. I think older members have had their fill -- there's nothing left to say on the topic. That's true.

But so many newbies on this site only arrived here because of bounty campaigns. Newbies and bounty spammers aren't going to stop making threads about it, and either lobbying for changes or fishing for merit in their OPs. And they treat the existing threads like any other spam megathreads. It's an eyesore and they're incentivized to keep posting about it because they got penalized by the system.

It should fade away, but one month is still early doors considering the major impact it has had on the forum. If it's still a problem in a few months time maybe we should consider a child board, but I'm hoping it doesn't come to that and expect it won't.

Give it some time and most of those posts will be gone to later pages, it's just that merit is still a new thing and, of course, there will be a discussion about it. No need to bother with merging or creating something like a new board, it would die out within a couple of weeks or month.
1 month later...

It will fade within 3 months, 1 month after is nothing here. Also, you can check what type of members are opening topics about it, it will give you a better idea.

As well, you can see yourself there are topics with over 350 pages and people keep posting in, despite the fact nobody is reading or the topic is not relevant 3 or 4 years later, so don't be surprised
I counted + 35 topics in 48 hours and then stopped to count. I now try to avoid the Merits Meta section

I agree. I too thought this would pass but 6 weeks from inception? If anything, it's getting worse. Make a child board already so we can banish all the merit threads there. At this point, everything that could be said already has been.

i do not think its required , only newbies asking for what is merit and before reading anything they just create a thread and start discussion. merit is very good system , Currently every member of this forum is stuck at the position until he earn enough merit points , average you will earn 1 merit point every 10 post if you are really good quality poster.

Some old people who came to know about this system because they stuck at activity 98 and they need now at least 90 merit points to reach next rank. People are creating thread in meta section , this discussion must be in other section

we are missing some other imp decision which other people want to share

Excellent ideas!

Merit system attends most of users, including higher-ranked (Heroes, Ledgendaries, Sr. Members) and lower-ranked members (Jr. members, Newbies). Users created hundreds of topics discussed about What is merit? How to get free merits? How to be ranked up with merits system? etc. And part of those topics are almost identical, repeatedly created by chances. Therefore, the idea of the topic's creator is great and should be deeply considered.

In addition, as one user has answered before my thread, take it easy and let the forum has more time, maybe couple of weeks. Then topics which won't get    more threads will fall behind, neglected, forgotten; only hot topics that attracts users will survive (I simply use the word survive) and appears in the first page of Meta board. And as time goes one, merit will not be a hot keyword, users won't tend to create topics related to merits & smerits. Don't worry about that.

I like merit discussion board. To be in control of merit system everywhere. I noticed this merit in others section very popular even out of the board still merit can't be erase. Why merit exist in other board supposed to be only in meta section and in beginners and helps.?

Actually, new members make such mistakes as they are not aware regarding the rules. There is also the option to move the thread to proper section once posted in wrong section.

I don't see the need for a new board either but I think that newbies that sign up will always have questions. This is a very complicated system this forum has. I don't think the questions will cease.

I was thinking this earlier in the week. It has become bad that one of the reasons merit was taken in was to stop people posting stuff that had nothing to do with bitcoin and all we are really seeing is post upon post of merit and how the system isn't fair and so on.

I approved to this thread though , we need this mostly on the newbies because it giving us a hard time right? , and to help not just us but all of the users on this forum , to make our forum even better. To share thoughts and ideas each of every one , to help out and to reach out.

New board would be pointless. These merit posts will die out in a month or so, it's just that there are still a lot of butthurt people complaining about it, once they realize their bitching isn't going to do anything they will stop posting.

I agree, alot of threads already been made around the forum. A new board is a good suggestion for its FAQs and also for newbies. Kindly put everything about the Merit System in order to help everyone from confusion and to be self aware to the new system made.

I think some of the threads could be merged. Also members could close some threads if they feel they have outlived their usefulness. I closed one of mine ( for other reasons), but if it would help, I'll close a few more.

Even this could have been suggested in the official thread about merit system. Smiley Coming back to your question, I think it is not needed as we will see less of these posts as the merit system gets older.
I think we should also consider the fact that alot of users are registering in the forum. Thus, questions about merit will continuously be raised. But what you said is correct, only time can tell.

I'm with krishnavernma, i really think that post about merit will lessen in the future when the merit system gets old, it is just hot and new to our experience thus many people talk about it. About creating another section for Merit imho is not really necessary, posting the link of your post is can be viewed by others as begging for merit. As per the newbies they wont ask question when they go to beginners and help section here in our forum because all they need to know is in there.
