For centuries such people were put in jail or executed, but those measures haven't changed anything, because those who were replacing corrupt officials turned out to be not better than the bad guys. What we really need is new people, people with high moral standards, to carry out the government job.

Here's two examples, in the quotes below, which are, simultaneously, mind-blowing facts about gambling, imo.

Bizarrely enough, Monaco citizens are free from having to pay any income taxes. That’s because the state uses casino profits to pay towards public services instead!

That is quite interesting, because I have known of that kind of model for a long time, I didn't knew that Monaco used it but I have known that throughout history many governments instead of charging income taxes they used lotteries and other gambling games to fund themselves, but that was when governments believed in serving their people and being as small as possible and to not intrude into their lives, but the governments of this era believe the opposite and that's why they have become the monsters that they are.

Martingale Strategy
The strategy was named after John Henry Martindale, whose name was later mutilated to Martingale. J. H. Martindale was a casino owner in London. He was so convinced that the casino would always have to win that he encouraged players to double their bets as long as his casino was in trouble.

A hundred years later in 1891 the Martingale strategy was successfully used in Roulette by legendary Charles Wells, who broke the bank 12times within 3 days in Monte Carlo! His success was an inspiration for a song "The man who broke the bank at Monte Carlo".

Most casinos will tell you that the Martingale Strategy will not work on their games, because their games are "Provably Fair" - So no strategy should work in these casinos.  Wink

Slot machines as we know them today only ever give away cash – if we’re lucky enough. However, believe it or not, the original models built in the US towards the end of the 19th century used to dispense gum and tokens. It’s thought the reason why you see fruit on the reels – and why they are often referred to as fruit machines – is as a result of fruit-flavoured gum!

This topic is wonderful and no one of this informations was in my mind before i read it...gambling is a think that affect the humane brain deeply and i believe that gambling adiction is on of the hardest adiction to fight
Gambling addiction can cause serious damage to our personal life but it isn't the hardest one to get recover compared to drug addicts because consuming drugs can change the chemical composition of our brain but gambling only changes its behaviour so if people wants to recover then it is possible to do.
Comparison of Drugs and gambling is not appropriate because they have different areas those i believe that many gambling addict are also drug addict.

In drugs Addict seek money just to buy the chemical.

In gambling addict need money to look for another money .

But both are serious and cannot be determine in which is easy and which is hard.

Because it is the Whole person that this vices changing,no matter of how much chemical or nothing but this change the whole person.
Each kind of addiction is severe and I am not denying that, just considering the recovery from different kind of addiction then gambling addiction is actually possible which is unlikely happen with drug addicts.

It won't be called addiction if it were not severe in the first place. Addiction means the patient is beyond control of himself already. That is already severe in my opinion. There are gamblers who find it very hard to control themselves not to gamble at certain times but they are mostly successful in staying out. Those who cannot anymore control their gambling urges mean they are already in a severe state which is what is considered addiction.

In terms of which is which, both are equally dangerous. A man who is addicted in either gambling or drugs could do unimaginable things which could hurt themselves, their families, friends, and community.

To win several tens of millions of dollars, you don't always need to be a professional gambler. Sometimes it's enough for you to get very lucky once. You can read about the history of winning the jackpot by Cynthia Jay at the Palace Station casino. If you search the Internet for information about such winnings, you will find many similar jackpot wins.

I guess some of us already got that luck. Yes, we only need to have the luck to win. Sometimes, you play gambling without thinking about win or lose. But suddenly, your luck comes beside you, and boom, you see you are the new winner, and you win a lot of money from gambling. I am sure at that time, you will not believe it, and it is real. I am sure that much other news about such winnings, especially for some people who win a big jackpot. But some people who win that such big money prefer to hide from the public because that can be risky if a bad guy knows that they win a lot of money from gambling.

Winnings of huge jackpots completely depends on luck. This kind of story with winning huge amounts of money is the best way to encourage other players to try their luck in the casino. The drawing of the jackpots was invented by a very smart man.  Wink
I think that those who won large sums of money should hide first of all from relatives than from bandits).

Losing your sacrifices and efforts to earn a $40 million in two years and lose it in just  three weeks was so terrified. In gambling it will surely have a 50/50 chances of probability of winning and losing but it doesn't mean that we win once we will become a winner in our every game. And i guess earning that huge amount of profit in two in gambling doesn't define you already as a good gambler. There are some missing piece of our past experience that we should to look back to be able to become good.
Gambling is just a game of luck, because we win today does not guarantee us to win tomorrow, because we win today does not mean we can not lose all the funds won today tomorrow. Some people will have good testimonies today but selling their properties tomorrow all because of gambling. Nobody is a good gambler, that is why if someone is lucky and win huge amount of money should never gamble again or to only use very small amount he was using before because if he go big there is also high tendencies he will lose big.

I am sure not many people can win much money in gambling, especially for that such amount. If he can win that much money, he is a very lucky and gifted gambler because to win small or medium money will need luck and effort, and sometimes we can lose some money before we can win.

Yes, that is possible to win that amount of money, but the probabilities will not too big. The rest will get their loss without a chance to recover their loss or even win a lot of money. But perhaps, a gambler can win for a total of that amount in a year, but to get a big winning will need big luck.

A lot of wins already happened and most of them are not out of experience or skills but out of luck that we can't actually tell since when we bet that money we are just hoping it could win. Although I watched a video about bad luck surrounding lottery winners after they win, it is a video made by the infographic show.

Well, this is another long yet informative topic similar to the other topics that I have read as trivia and I really admire those who take time in compiling such information and bringing it up here for everyone which could somehow be helpful in their gambling routines. The most inspiring and seems to be so unbelievable for me is [#22] that a single man can turn people's gambling addiction into a different vice through chess which made them back to a healthy lifestyle again. The [#33] is somehow hilarious for me because winners should answer mathematical questions that will differentiate if they do gambling or a game of luck. Thank you, I really enjoy reading all the bullets and it really has blown my mind for all these facts.

A gambler named Archie Karas went to Las Vegas with $50, gambled it up to $40 million over the next two years, only to lose it all in three weeks. Source

How about this one? Who thought that winning is gambling is not possible, damn, small capital to $40 million, must be a gifted gambler, I wonder if there are many of them in the planet.

Though it's possible, but we should not think that this would happen to us, winning in gambling is not just for everyone.
In fact, winning is only for few people while casinos always makes money at the end of the day.

I can't agree with you, earning from $50 capital to $40 million and yet you are still not convince that he is already a good gambler? Ridiculous, I think not everyone can do that, maybe only 1 in a million can do that, this gambler is skillful to grow his small capital to millions in the span of 2 years.

yup he lose in 3 weeks but he will keep trying to win again as he already know how to win.

He is some kind of greedy, we understand that, but let's just look at the bright side of the picture first, $50 to $40 million, that's a real skill man.

Its not just skill but also an extremely lucky person to reach up that winning with that 50 bucks capital which not all would really be having that kind of situation and kind luck to possess on.Well, not all would really be a happy day but its impressive that he do able to stand up in 2 years time until he bust up for 3 weeks but as mentioned where this fella would just simply continue yet would be taking another shot but doesnt mean that
he/she would able to attain the same success because not everytime we would really be lucky on doing gambling but somehow he had already some idea on how things should be done.
There are really some lucky people on this world which do make extreme winnings with less money compared to those who do have lots but still losing with few bets.

This is also a sign of impulsive or addicted gambling else why when you have made millions and would bet so much that you end up losing like 40 million unless made 1000+millions and lose out 40 million then that is fine, else it is simple thing like I would just play say 5% of the total win amount and rest could be used for my remaining life and other stuff.

That is because of greed. He wants to make more money from gambling, which he can not do because the casino won't let him get more money. If someone can stop playing gambling after he wins that money, that will be a good sample of many gamblers because he stops at the right time. Besides that, he can enjoy his win money and maybe he can celebrate with his friends or family. Losing in gambling will not good, and if you lose more money, that will be a pain in your head and you will regret it.

That is what happens if we are addicted to gambling. That can make us feel hard to stop gambling, even if we already won some money. We will feel no satisfied because we always want to increase the win money by playing for more rounds.

I agree he really got a wonderful talent plus tons of luck in his hands (because hitting a $40 million is not a joke, I won't believe that he only got it through his skills alone). But still, I don't want to be like him, I'd rather be a small time gambler forever which earns small winnings only rather than being a super duper poor when it comes to financing. See? Archie Karas won lots of money but still end up broke. All the time and efforts he spent become pointless.

If I'm on his position, I will spend the 75% of my profits to my needs and safer assets. And the remaining 25% is for gambling. So that when I f*cked up this time at least I will not go back from scratch.
Surely the ending would be different if and only if he didn't let lose of his self and have control over his bets, he feels like his luck will never end. He got overwhelmed by the winnings and the luck he has experienced and he bet way too much money on each bets he make, surely $40m is a huge bankroll but looking at his bet amounts according to the source it will not take a long losing streak to wipe out all his money. Winning $40m with just $50 with his pocket and a $10k loan clearly would blow anyone's mind but no matter how big we win we must not let go of ourselves and be disciplined all the time.

Good share of thoughts. I had also been doing the same  thing If ever I will be given the chance to earn or win that big or lots of money. Going back from scratch should be avoided as much as possible so that life will not be that hard when you will going to keep or divert the big part of the winnings for security purposes. Investment will do good like real estate for it can even grow up whenever you wanted to especially if you will still be lucky in gambling and expand everytime you win and do know also to stop or put a limit when gambling.
