If you have free/stolen power then who cares.  Any card is a good deal.

All that matters is MH/$.  With no electrical cost just about any card if profitable in 6 months.

As I said before I am not "stealing" any power or making others pay for it.

I work for a local power company as an electrician. No stolen cables or altered meters etc.

I really envy you over in the US getting a 5970 for $300 with warranty and all that etc.

I really am unsure how to invest in mining from here on, hence this thread.

Worse you aren't going to get 840 MH on a 5970.  Not without massively overvolting it and likely cooking the VRM within a year.
More like 750 MH/s.

What is your electrical rate?

Electrical rates don't really matter to me Grin ( I work for the power company )

And yes, here in the UK-EUSSR we pay around double what you pay for a 5970 in the US.

Here is how I see it :

-no other 5870s on sale on eBay or Google under 200 GBP and even above that I could not find only at 300 GBP maybe

-79xx series will be crap for mining right now and at prices of 420 GBP for 700 mhash/s ( ratio is 1.67 )

-BFL Labs may be a scam and even if they are for real then it has 0 resale value and no other uses like gaming or encryption breaking so very risky etc.

-5970s are going on eBay for about 400 GBP and get a maximum of 840 mhash/s so that ratio is 2.1 which is crap as well

Any more suggestions ? What are you going to mine on in the future ? 5xxx cards ?
