May be...Move out of ethermine with the small hashrates.
Try another pool.

Yooo 40% stales!! I would throw that rig outta the 14th floor bro.
Guys last night I started mining again on ethermine with the phoenixminer.
Since last week Ive been having a lot of problems with my rig, but luckily last night it seemed to be pretty stable and I was submitting maximum of 7 stales, around 6-7% of my speed, which I consider a real win. If you want try to mine with that miner also.
I have also had a lot of problems with the Claymore's miner due to always freezing and crashing the rig - that's why I switched.
Just try and tell me if that has resolved at some level the issue.
Wish you all a happy and not-so-much-stale-share-submitting mining Cheesy

Hi,

No better last night, this appears to come in waves (looks like a bell curve going from ~2-3% all the way up to 10-13%, then back down) happens several times periodically over 24 hours, something must be up on ethermines side, either pool power increase drastically or ping from their servers to the user rises periodically causing stale shares. For one hour I was down to 0% stale, then within another hour up to 10%.

Really would like to know why or if something can fix it,

Also did anyone have an answer about the Minergate question I posed? I honestly can't find a definite answer anywhere about why it is so low,

Thanks!

Yes, everyone is experiencing the same. Pretty annoying to be looking at 135-140 effective average hashrate when I see 155 in the Claymore miner's window (5xRX570).
However I was not getting more profit when I was switching the rig to Nanopool, even though it reported the full hashrate.

The last 6 hours seems to be ok, about 3-4% stale shares.

I am getting the same about 5-15% stale with ethermine. Would hate to move to a different crypto but what else is there to do.  Anyone got better results with a different pool?

Hi all,

Just started mining with Claymore the last few days an using Ethermine pool (us1 4444), have noticed peaks of very high stale shares as well, not sure why.

All cards are RX 580 4GB, using Claymore 10.6 (latest) single mode (ETH), stock settings / compute mode / fans turned up.

I have had as high as 39% stale shares for a moment a couple days ago (overnight) before getting all workers going, now monitored over a few days, at about 120 MH/S, after 16 hours of mining overnight into today my stale rate was about 2-5%, however over the last two hours it is closer to 15%, no idea what causes these spikes in stale shares, all cards are good and it appears to be totally random in which cards generate the stale shares (no one system is generating noticeably more than another), can go hours at <5%, but then a few hours at >10% for no explanation.

Hardline Vs. Wifi seems to make no difference, hardline system gets stale shares just the same as Wifi, in fact the hardline system is at 18% last hour rn. Ping is 48 MS for accepted shares on hardline, still stale shares.

Any ideas??

Unrelated, Minergate 7.2 (sucks I know) only gives me 10 MH/S per RX 580, wth is going on with that? I know Minergate steals hashrate, but do they honestly steal HALF of your hashrate or more?? I switched to Claymore obviously, but I want to know why Minergate only gives 10 MH/S...

Thanks!
Paul

It's getting really bad. 39% stale for me now. What's going on?

The problem is the speed/time.

By the time you solve a problem and submit a share to the pool, someone else already solved and submited before you = stale share.
The rate at which Ethermine gets new blocks is ridiculous, so when you submit your share, we are already mining a new block.

The stale shares on Ethermine went up dramatically after the Byzantium fork back in October. I think the fixed share difficulty that Ethermine uses is too low for the 15 second block times since the Byzantium fork, which causes too many stale shares. I switched to Nanopool that uses a higher share difficulty and my estimated hashrate on Nanopool is much closer to my reported hash rate.

Nanopool doesn't report stale shares and it combines both valid and stale into calculated/SMA.

Nanopool uses a fixed 10000MH difficulty, which means it's 60% higher than what Ethemine uses.

so... is better nanopool or ethermine?

okay, it became 10000MH since 6 of January 2018 according to their twitter, I used to mine when it was 5000MH
