RX470 4gb is not going to give you same old hashrate anymore because the ETH DAG is now over 4gb, you will need to swap that gpu for a 6gb or 8gb VRAM gpu or keep mining with the 4gb gpu @15mhs per second like many are getting

I tried replacing the PSU with another one... nothing changed.. the motherboard still didn't start at all...

If you have 4gb RX470 it's better to keep mining with lolminer because it still gives 15 to 20 mhs but if you end up selling the gpu you won't be able to buy 8gb gpu right now because they are overpriced, even a RX580 8gb costs 350$ to 400$ right now, keep mining with the 4gb cards till mining isn't profitable anymore

Payment Gateway Allows Recurring Payments
It's still worthwhile for a few weeks, I am getting a hashrate of about 22mh/s at the moment but that will drop to 16mh/s from the 21st Jan.

As other have said probably worth trying to sell any 4gb cards to buy 8gb cards.
Now it makes no sense to sell 4GB video cards, because new video cards are very expensive, like used 8GB video cards.
It should be borne in mind that used video cards could have been in mining for 3 years or more.
It is better to continue mining Ethereum Classic and other coins in Q1 2021 until new video cards appear on the market at a good price

It will be wise to sell off any gpu with 4gb memory right now before it's too late, gamers still want this cards so much but the earlier the better, sell them and buy new graphic card with latest architecture, they are future proof and will be well supported in driver compatibility wise

Good idea, there are gamers who loves using this cards, if OP is willing to take that gamble and adds up some funds for his upgrade
the ride with this current ETH pump still possible.

The earlier the better, while there are still people who will buy your cards if you sell it now the best chance also to join the ride.

Still profitable even you are now just getting dust, the best thing is ETH have the better chance to grow in value,
the more rise the more money for you if you'll going to take the risk.

It's finally over for rx470 and 580 that has oy 4gb video ram, they are still fairly profitable right now but hashrates are never the same again, you can only get up to 20mhs from such cards now, the only option left is mining Ravencoin or Ethereum Classic, I have a source selling rx570 4gb for 80$ each, used gpu 😂😂😂😂😂

That 24pin is always difficult to remove. Basically I remember once I ended up ripping off the connector off the motherboard because I pulled too hard. Just take a flat head screwdriver and pry it out on one end and the other and eventually it will come out.

This 24pin should NEVER really melt. The only time I had one melt was years ago when mining litecoin and using ribbon risers which took +5V from the motherboard, if you got like 5-6 gpus in 1 motherboard sometimes the +5V melted on the 24pin connector. However the +12V shouldn't receive too much current to melt. Your situation is very strange.

You sure the power supply isnt set to 220-240v and its on 110v or vis-versa?

The melted 24 pin mobo plug is scary.

I disconnected the second and last GPU card (with giant effort!  Shocked....)
and tried running the machine...
There is undoubtedly some SERIOUS POWER SUPPLY ISSUE  Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked,  looks like the entire shit is running undervolted...
(fan running at half speed, no leds turning on at all, hard disk doesn't even start, no beep sounds apart from a strange soft noise from the buzzer like it's trying to startup but then it fucking dies...)
On top of that I'm totally unable to remove the 24 pin ATX power connector from the motherboard... looks like the plastic has MELT  and is totally stuck on the slot!! Shocked
the situation is really bad....   Shocked Shocked
But now it's time to post more on tom's hardware, will wear a tech wizard's hat for the following days.. hoping to be back here soon...

Hello folk,
Ethereum price is skyrocketing  Shocked. I decided to go back to mining using my old rig from 2017
Surprisingly enough it still turns on!.. (after collecting dust for more than 2 years)
I have 2x RX470 4gb modded cards running on Windows 7 (with 4gb RAM) . Today I tried running the old dusty rig and this is the list of problems I found:
-Claymore miner is not working anymore ("cannot set epoch" error... I've already searched for this error and I will fix
it by replacing with another miner)
-One card is not recognized by Windows 7 (maybe it is only a problem of some cable connection, I will check it better in the next days)

Wht miner do you suggest to use? Do you think it is still profitable to use 4gb RX 470 cards in 2021?
Thanks for your help!

Will soon give some updates!

Claymore miner isn't working anymore already and you can only get around 15 to 20mhs out of a 4gb RX470 and RX580 right now using lol miner, it's finally time where 6 and 8gb memory are very important,  the only option left for 4gb cards is Ravencoin or Ethereum Classic

I am really sorry to hear you switched off your miner 3 years ago.  I have kept mine running non-stop since 2017,  thinking that ETH price might one day go above $1000 once again.  I have been hodling ETH since the previous bull run in 2017.
Recently, I sold all my Polaris 4GB cards when the hash rate dropped to 21MH/s or so.  They were still profitable as per today's ETH price.
If I were you, I would sell them since mining alternatives with them are not too good right now.  You could mine ETC or RVN, if you believe in a future for those coins.
If you want to mine ETH or ETC, then consider using Phoenixminer or Team Red miner as Claymore apparently is not maintained any more.

I stopped mining in 2018 after the Ethereum's price plummeted and saw that it was not profitable anymore (my electricy cost is relatively high...) I kind of lost interested in this hobby after that...

Bad news: the rig stopped working!  Angry
yesterday I tried turning it on and it was kind of ok (despite one of the 2 cards not been recognized)... but today the motherboard doesn't turn on at all Shocked
Some leds turn on and the CPU fan starts running at a "strangely" LOW speed. It feels like there is some power supply issue, like the motherboard doesn't receive enough power...  It may be some really stupid thing like some power supply cable not making contact or something... maybe caused by the huge amount of dust (I made the mistake of leaving the rig rotting in open air for 3 years!)
I will investigate in the next days... I will have to dismantle the all rig hoping to solve the problem...

If you go on ebay and Amazon right now you will see that most RX570 and 580 with 4gb are very cheap to buy simply because there are many selloff, they are now less profitable for mining, if Ethereum classic is presently Profitable to mine it would have been better because ETC algo accepts 4gb cards, you can get the 30+mhs from a RX570 4gb version mining ETC but profit wise? It's not worth it

At the moment the best option is lolMiner with hash of 22-24Mhs well configurated, it will continue go down but you will be able with the price of ETH until first of March...

Try to use TRM or Phoenix miner. Your hashrate will be about 17-21MH max and will slowly fall, but it is still profitable, may be till the end of January.

How about the trick of inserting a single 8gb vram gpu in the first slot of PCIe and insert the rest 4gb in second slot and others? I've watched a video on YouTube that confirms that this works, miners only need to detect the first VRAm in slot 1 and used that for all available GPU on motherboard
It doesn`t work now.

Unfortunately you came too late. A few weeks ago the DAG grew past >4GB and you cannot mine ETH anymore on those cards. If you still really want to mine, there is a special software called lolminer that lets you mine past 4GB but the speeds are slower with the same power consumption.

Before if you got 30MH/s per 140 Watts, right now you would get 15MH/s per 140 Watts. So it should still be profitable because price of ETH is high but seems like a better alternative would be just to sell the GPU and buy an 8GB variant.

Besides ETH there are other things to mine like ETC but the profits are horrible. Something like $0.15 per day with $0.10 kwh power.
