Guys, what is the best price GPU for mining alts (like eth)?

And which is better for this, 7970 or r9 290? (maybe its a dumb question).

I would choose 290 over 280x. Yep, needs more power but also gives 50% more hash. Where I live price difference is 50€.

Are the 290 still being sold as now? I think 390 will be better than 290 series as they have more memory.

If you compare the card price with mining performance, 7950, 7970, R9 280, R9 280x are good choice. It is my opinion

All the used 7950/7970 were sold already last month.

Its very hard to find them right now at good prices, just buy new retail while they are still in stock.

they are even more costly than newer R9 380 and 390 cards. I think for future mining R9 380 390 will be better option than 7970/7950 , am i wrong ?

No 380 is slower than 7950.

390 is very expensive.

If you want to mine ETH you can always buy the 2GB R7 370, you will get 17MH/s and its the cheapest.

Do not do that ! Buying a 2GB graphic card is silly to mine Etehreum, because because of the DAG's size increase, you won't mine for a long time !

i am getting 19 mhashes from my 7950

Yes the 7950 gets around 19-21 mhash or so.

But the newer cards are slower because of the memory bus.

The difference between 390 and 7950 will increase when the DAG file size increases further in the future.

i remember it was 15megahash, 17 seems high for that low end graphic card

First, you'll need to specify if you want it used or brand-new. Then, you'll have to tell us where you live, because this really matter.

I live in Bangladesh. I want to buy used cards but Fresh, good condition card. My cousin lives in Virginia, USA. If you want, you may send the card to him.

ive found a lot of 7950/7970 for $150 in my area

but ethereum is losing steam, so i think we will soon be back to the "norm" where gpu profits are <$1/day and not quite sufficient to profit from a mining rig. only buy the gpus if you plan to game or resell with them later

Where do you live in ?
I need a quick reply. Someone in my place is selling a AMD 7990 6gb gpu @ $300. Should I buy that beast ? I have heart that card is pretty mining efficient but power hungry. It seems 2x 7970 in a single pcb and will produce around 50 Mhashes. Is it worth buying @ $300? And how efficient the card is for mining other algos ?

Will a TT 730w Psu be enough for mining with AMD 8350 processor ?
BTW I live in a Asian country.

The 7970 is the best card to mine as it is cheaper than 280x and 380x. But as the price of Ethereum drops, it might not ROI.

If you want to mine and use the used cards, then 7970 is better than 280x, as they are the same but 7970 is cheaper.

+1    Agree 100% based on my experience buying used 7970's and building a mining rig with my son a year ago.
