As many have said, its not that its impossible...but doing it would be horrendous for the phone. It isn't built to handle that in terms of heat and in terms of power consumption. It would kill the battery and wouldn't make you anywhere near a positive return.

It would be better to just buy whatever coin you're looking for. Or if you're looking to do real mining to buy a rig specifically built to handle mining.

It is completely possible to mine on a smartphone, the problem is there’s just so little to be made most android applications don’t harbor stealth miners inside of them. It’s more worthwhile for someone malicious to infect phones and get money through other means. Windows-based computers and other laptops and desktops with non-ARM processors are a different story, though, and many applications intended for those devices can harbor stealth miners that mine in the background for a profit.

If mining with smartphones were possible, then I guess a lot of people would try to silently install miners and run them in electronics shops because smartphones are turned on while shops are open.
The only thing that comes to my mind is SweatCoin, it's possible to mine this coin with your smartphone when you walk or run or move, It collects steps. But exchange is a real problem, it's only possible through official website.

If mining do not worth it with Laptop, how is it going to worth it with phones, don't be deceived, I have seen some projects marketing this phone mining things, to me it is just like telling people what they need to here and not what they need to here and the truth is that mining requires some investment in mining gear if you are to have a chance at it
I also saw several projects (and even participated in the bounty of one of them). It ended with the fact that the project changed the concept and from mining began to create a clicker game.
I think, in addition to the processors power, another important detail is the work of the battery on the phone..

I've come across a few programs like this before. You can be sure about it does not work. I totally see it as a waste of time. They usually aim to do this by advertising

Exactly, most of these so called 'mining' apps give peanuts to users and earn lot from ads.

It is impossible to mien BTC with android but you can mine other coins. If we consider that a mobile is mining only a few cents then we come to the conclusion that it is not worth doing it. The electricity costs are higher and we are just destroying the battery. Howewer, if the prices of  cryptocurrencies  increase heavily one day then we could still  be rewarded .

ohh no, at moment until the coming year it is not possible even though you have 1000 Android Samsung Galaxy S10 with the spec that high you will be defeated with ASIC and also the maximum level of difficulty.

maybe back again in 2011 and mid-2012 where the level of difficulty was low between 5k - 500k possible can still Smiley

ok, lately I saw a coin that can be mineable through a smartphone with a very simple, you can find it through the Google engine was called MIBCoin.

Before you actually even ask the question "is it profitable to mine with a laptop or a smartphone", you should just sit back and think for a minute.

Currently a rig of AMD RX 570 GPUs - that are still the efficiency kings of ETH mining - is barely profitable.

How on earth do you expect a puny device to make you any money? How would you think it would create enough hash to even justify it killing its battery and heating up itself to death in the process?

Use your common sense, people. Get this stupid idea out of your head. The only crypto related thing a smartphone is good at is mobile wallets.

I have an old android tablet which is mining Electroneum (ETN). I have downlowded the APPs in the playstore.
It mines  aprox. 4-5 ETN daily, does not overheat and the battery lasts for 2 days.
Is roughly $ 0.06 for two days! Which is about $ 11 a year! Very profitable! Grin

I think this is nonsense! ASIC and fpga are now actively used. Even videocards now give a small profit. What can you earn on a smartphone?

Even laptops are not good for btc mining because they can't handle the temperature. If you try to mine on android phone that will end with a broken phone and nearly no money for mining.
No they can handle the temp but the problem is it's not worth it to mine with laptop and it may slow down the speed of your laptop and honestly it takes years before you can make a 100 sat.

For phone maybe if there is some shitcoin you can mine altcoin without value and only time can tell if the value of the coin increase or not but it may also lead to destroy your smartphone like wifi signal, network signal or possible it become deadboot due to hardware failure. So not worth it to mine with android phones.
It seems to me that given the complexity of mining and the fact that now even with an average video card there is nothing to do in mining ... mining on smartphones has no chance.
