This is good news for people especially for us that join in the cryptocurrency and for the charities, it will help them to get the money to save the children. I am supporting this, but I wonder how good is the results. I think they use the same method as minergate which using our computing power to mining the cryptocurrency. This will bring good news for the cryptocurrency and people will see that cryptocurrency can be used for good things like to save the children and the others.
I do not want to do that, and donate my FIAT for the purpose - maybe that's just me, but that's my opinion on this topic. The legal sound as it was posted in various online news channels like cointelegraph and news.bitcoin. The only difference is Unicef Australia announced that they are using Coinhive to make money from their website, unlike Showtime and Pirate Bay, users do not know.
Oh I love the idea. I mean, as other members have said, it pretty much helps the goodwill of cryptocurrency after all the reputation it had for being used for money laundering, buying drugs etc.

This is a good cause. Aleast bitcoin will have another good use. This will be a good image for bitcoin. And most especially this is good for these children that will be helped. This will encourage more people to get interrsted in bitcoin and the eventually invest in bitcoin.

It's unfortunate the virtual mining link you added is sending virus alert to my system however if your news information is real then it's a welcome development for the poor people all over the world to benefit from this amazing gesture.
It would be interesting to see if there was a virus going around that didn't send money to a hacker account but it went to unicef instead! A kind of goodwill hacker, that would be a great way to get funds although not legal I'm sure

A lot of money has been developed thanks to the trust of the big investors, so many people are joining Bitcoin to get a lot of profit but there are risks that many people are facing. investment process and business, I think in the future there will be many rich people and their money to do charity.
I am all in for charities and I have always said that it is much better using Bitcoin and Crypto currencies for donations to charities, because a much bigger percentage of the money donated actually go to the charity. Not like when you use remittance or Bank services, where a lot of the donated money goes towards fees.
It is strange that they chose mining as a method to generate income, but I guess offering your idle CPU/GPU power and electricity, is just as good as donating money.

I guess this is very great initiative taken by the UNICEF Australia to fund bitcoin for charity and i also think that we should also help these children atleast once in our life and should be thankful to the god who have made us capable to this extent that we can afford our home and even bitcointalk.org has also provided a column of donate to help these children and i would also like to donate and help such people when i become capable for donationbut yes transparency is very much necessary for donation because there are some orphanage who not uses charity money for good cause and they themselves use that money for their personal benefit. the biggest problem with charities these days is that they are not transparent enough and usually you see that the amount of money wasted in their processes is a lot more than it should be. and in some cases you don't even know if they are actually using your money for good or not!
there is BitGive foundation which is the most transparent in my opinion and it is using bitcoin and its technology to stay transparent and everything can be monitored because of it. if i wanted to donate someday i would choose them instead.
