 - Mixer sigs will be affected by the wordfilter on Jan 1. After a few days (ie. not immediately on Jan 1), signatures containing any of the wordfiltered URLs will be blanked. I haven't decided yet whether I'll remove old mixer avatars: if I do, it won't be for at least a few weeks after Jan 1. (New mixer avatars definitely aren't allowed.)
Is this thread an example of how the wordfilter will be implemented later ?
And this is a user who still use signature containing the wordfiltered.
In this example, the word filtered site is replaced wherever it is found with [banned site]. But in the case of mixers, their sites aren't banned, maybe theymos will coin another phrase for the mixers.
Speaking about the signatures, the URL will also be word filtered. But what about the image designs in the ANN thread that are always bold like a billboard?

Fuck I am simply getting too fucking old.  You know I posted hundreds of images in the last 5 months.

As I do post a lot. I guess I will need to check the posts I did since September as some may have Sinbad and some may have tumbler

From the new year, I think moderators will have to go in to overdrive mode to ensure they keep a look out for anything that comes close to contravening the mixers ban. Also, as long as forum members find something that is not allowed (images with URL etc) they/we will have to report them and after that it is up to them how they proceed to sanction the member.

Is this thread an example of how the wordfilter will be implemented later ?
That would be my guess. And it instantly shows a flaw: the URL is still visible in an image. Many ANN topics use images to display the content, so maybe they should be wiped too. Or at least from the OP of locked threads.

@philipma1957  You didn't made any private deals with a certain mixer to post screenshots of your avatar, did you? 😂 the point here is to stop paid promotions of mixers, having certain tactics to slide a mixer ad either in sig, avatar or in a post could result in mass abuse. So nice job by finding various methods to exploit.

I might launch digler.io to sell bibles. 😉

damn that would be a good idea. fuck wish I thought about it.

Since I did not make that deal I will do that img over again.

thanks for catching it.

Yes.

Those threads have all been deleted or locked, and 2 domains have been wordfiltered.

It seems avatar isn't theymos' focus, so he still not take an action against user who wear the old avatar. There was an user who still wear the avatar and signature even though he's active, but he already remove it. The most important thing he's not mentioning the site after theymos wordfiltered the domains, so he's safe.

any good eth mix?  Grin Grin Grin

Ethereum mixers make use of smart contracts, which have support for built-in logging and are potentially even less secure than bitcoin mixers.

Let's assume you will allow old mixer avatars just like you allowed old animated avatars. Then, mixer accounts have pm access, this means someone wearing old mixer avatars can get a nice deal via pm to keep it. Will this mean promotion of the mixer, since the deal is not done publicly and there's no way to show that the person is being paid for wearing the avatar.

I doubt any active accounts will risk being banned for a few dollars after January 1st. In short, any active accounts found with a mixer avatar will be banned.

It seems like any thread about LN both before and after the new year should be fine.

Okay like I said I will be finding non custody LN websites and testing them out then Listing them on that channel.

One coin to rule them all
December 18, 2023, 03:09:23 PM
I support this decision. The majority of the mixers are shady as hell.
I was only scammed once in my entire crypto career and that was a crypto mixer whcih launched the scam from this site.
(I was 100% responsible for sending coins to a mixer, I know, I know, however there was some private factors involved which I dont want to go into here).

But the setup was pretty clever, they had a campain, signatures, giving out free btc for "testers".
When you ran a small amount through all was fine, when you got over a certain size (a few BTC), then would the mixer scam you. Ouch

Lets get them out of here!

After almost a month of debate, I see many users being more radical on this subject than @theymos himself!  Roll Eyes

I think he has already explained and clarified the initial announcement, which was made a little emotional, but was adjusted based on community feedback.
Certainly the moderators will not start on January 1st, banning and blocking everything and anything else that says "mix". As @theymos said, first the automatic word filter and gradually everything will be adjusted.

I believe there will be time for everyone to adapt to the new forum rules, and in the end everything will go well.

Don't try to complicate things any more... we already know the main rule: mixing ads are prohibited. Then, the rest will be adjusted, if necessary, as things evolve. It's not worth complicating things now.

This is contrary to the mixer ban rule. The forum is excluded from any connection with mixer services, but the promotion of mixer creation is allowed. Plus this exception favors Jambler's partners over independent mixers. Indirect presence is provided to them.
Why didn't you mention Wasabi, a link to which is on one of the forum tabs? Or why don't you mention JoinMarket or Samurai?

Obviously, I went too far with the assumption that you have a guarantee from theymos that Jumbler is in compliance with the new ban and above censorship. My assumption is based on the fact that you will not enter such a complex situation without the official approval of the owner of the forum.
This is not an invitation for trolls, given that the whole thing obviously gives new features to the Bitcointalk forum I would like to hear the opinions of reputable members. Also, don't blame me if this annual event loses its sponsor, I'm not the one who introduced the ban. On the contrary, I am expressly against the mixer-ban rule and I give full support to Jambler and its partners. Finally, to all legal mixers/services.

At the end of the day, he made his decision by stating it is borderline when it comes to Jambler. I suspect the fact he decided to ban mixers was not an easy decision and was taken after long deliberations.

He also added the caveat of re-evaluating the situation at a later date to assess whether it is exploiting a loophole. Therefore, since most (if not all) of us have concluded theymos is competent, we should consider leaving the matter as it is for now.

Jambler is not itself a mixer, so it'll be allowed. (It's pretty borderline, though, so I might later reevaluate whether it's exploiting a loophole which should be closed.)
