Hey KingCaper,

Is it possible to reduce the stake rewards soon, rather than later? I mean, it would be good to start building up the MoinMovement / development fund again. So, maybe the stake reward could be reduced to 1.5 MOIN and the project keeps 0.38 MOIN or the reward? At least that is a source of income. Is this difficult to do?

Wow, good to see so many of you here. Warm feelings

Yeah mobile app wouldn't be bad. And I agree desktop wallet always blew me away when I compared it to wallets of more known projects

Hey Ferdo!

Are you a member of the MOIN discord? There is usually a lot more happening there.

https://discord.gg/sMZV8n

I occasionaly read some chats on telegram.

But nice to see people here as well. Always liked this forum format. Kinda old schoolย  Smiley

I'm the same as I have always preferred the forum then Discord and Telegram as this is where it all started for me. I sometimes check out the MOIN Discord to see if there is anything new but I always come on here.

Its great to see more people posting in here and some old members of the community as MOIN has always been about community and that's what attracted me into this coin a few years ago now. Still here and staking and look forward to the future of MOIN what ever KingCapper decides to do with the project.

Haha, yeah, pretty old school for sure. I had to re-create my account here as I lost my previous password and turns out I never confirmed my email, so no reset. Good to see you are keeping up with the goings-on via telegram!

The current MOIN wallet is amazing compared to some others. I guess there is the option to include an upgraded desktop chat client within the desktop wallet. This would be compatible with the mobile wallet, there could even be the ability to link apps to wallets and sync chats / MOIN balance.

I did a little bit of spring cleaning over the weekend (Naomi9000 says 'hi!' Wink).

The explorer now supports SSL: https://explorer.discovermoin.com/
[Fixed] The nodelist was empty: https://discovermoin.com/nodes.txt
OP: updated dead image links and tidied up a bit: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/moin-its-not-dead-its-resting-1237881

If anyone has any other housekeeping requests or suggestions for how the OP could be updated/improved, please drop them here.

Hey KingCaper,

Hope everything is well during this time of global uncertainty. Do you think the future direction of MOIN would maintain its privacy roots? As in, where ever the project ends up, would it still have a privacy focus?

In regard to financing the project, I think ilog had a good idea about taxing the staking rewards. It just would give the project constant source of revenue, while a business model is established.

In regard to the MOIN project itself, I like the path that Brave has taken with their browser, leveraging blockchain as method of advertising obfuscation, and when ads are viewed the rewards are given to the brave project. Maybe something similar could be done with MOIN, but with mobile encrypted instant messaging or emails?

Taxing the stake rewards might be the way to go as we see many masternode projects do this and it has helped in a big way with most projects so I'm all for this if KingCapper decides to go in that direction. The thing with MOIN that a lot of people don't know about is that MOIN has anonymous chat built into the wallet, I think if we can get the word out there then maybe it could attract more people into using MOIN. But I do like your idea about mobile encrypted messaging.

I think mobile is the way to go, especially for a chat application, as no one really uses desktop based messengers. I have been chatting to Treegoat (from the discord) about it for ages. haha. I think a hybrid mobile wallet / chat (or email) application would be a perfect direction. This could be supported by a staking capability within the mobile (which would be taxed). If this is a direction we want to go, I could do the numbers of a financial models that would work for the project. Just let me know.

True, well maybe we can get a MOIN mobile wallet developed and uploaded to the app stores. I think there is a lot to work with the current wallet as it has been working perfectly and so has the chat but as you said to have a mobile chat service with staking it would be awesome. I'm all for this if KingCapper decides to go down this path.

Hello all! long time no see ย Cheesy

My input:

I would argue to increase supply of MOIN to 1:1000 and keep Particl structure of Staking with TAX on Saking rewards to support DEVELOPMENT OF MOIN.

Is there a scheme on how FUNDs for DEVELOPMENT will be managed. I feel Particl decentralized native proposal engine could be used for the management. But who will hold the keys to the wallet? Multisig seems appropriate. ย

Lets make MOIN a dogecoin alternative to Particl Smiley)

Could MOIN become a MEME coin like DOGE? I doubt, but it could become a favorite coin for people that want to feel rich and trade BIG.

Don't worry about increased supply trading volatility. IT will find its ground over time and will get stable. ย

LOOK INTO VERGE ITS BADLY DEVELOPED BROKEN BLOCKCHAIN STILL IN TOP 10. I feel MOIN could kill XVG shady ass. Do more Partnerships than Bitcoin. ย Lets get a little more competitive. Could MOIN become a HYPE coin?

Regards

Long time indeed ilog! ย  Shocked

Making sure that development is properly funded is definitely something we will have to give proper thought to next time around. As regards your other ideas, it's not the direction I personally want to go with my own future contributions to the project, but as I've said before, I'm happy to support the community if they decide to take the existing MOIN in a different direction for now. The Discord channel seems to be where the majority of holders hang out these days, I'm sure they'd be interested to hear your ideas.

*Sakura*, Rumbles, ilog, vella85 - We just need Jookly, axllht and crz in here and it'd be like a proper family reunion! ย Cheesy ย
It's good to see you all. Hope you're all healthy and staying safe.

@KingCaper

I was thinking that maybe cold staking could be implemented into the MOIN wallet? I don't mind having the wallet run all the time however cold staking is a good way to go as the wallet doesn't need to stay opened all the time, just like a MN but its staking. I think it could also attract more people into MOIN so it could be something to think about moving forward with the project.

Hey vella, sorry it's taken me an age to reply. I like cold staking too. I won't extend the current codebase, but maybe try floating the idea in the Discord channel. If enough people are interested maybe we could offer a bounty for its implementation.

I, personally, like staking as is. I think one needs to do at least something to earn the coins, so having the wallet running as a requirement is something I'd prefer. But - that's just my opinion. Anyway happy to see you guys are still all here and hope KingCaper will one day surprise us with something. Hope it won't take too long and really hope we manage to get listed on more exchanges because that is, in the end, what decides whether we're perceived dead or not. Hodler & staker since 2017. The only coin I have held throughout.

Thanks for sticking with us johbtc. With cold staking you still need to have a node online, it's just that the staked coins can be on another device. There's more info on the Particl wiki: https://particl.wiki/learn/staking It's a nice feature, I'd be willing to put some MOIN towards a feature bounty myself if others are interested.

I agree with you, MOIN is still here and going strong compared to a lot of coins launched around the same time as MOIN. Staking has been great from the day I got into this coin and I haven't stopped staking MOIN as I enjoy the rewards increasing little by little each week. I remember staking MOIN and earning just over 1 MOIN coin per stake and now we are earning 1.86 MOIN coin per stake and soon it will be 1.87. I agree that MOIN needs a viable use case and I'm sure that KingCaper is working on something behind the scenes.

Yeah, I enjoy the staking aspect of the coin and that there is such a low circulating supply, not to mention still at least 10 years worth of staking until we hit the total supply. I'm sure KingCaper has an idea of what they would like to achieve.

Afternoon all,

I lost my previous login for this forum, so had to create a new account. Specially to revive this Moin thread actually. I'm pretty active on Moin's discord though.

Much like Vella, I have been staking Moin for a number of years, and I believe that Moin is in a pretty strong position versus other long established chains. The rich list distribution isn't outrageously weighted towards the Top 10 holders, the overall supply is low, the network itself is strong and the community seems to be very passionate about the project and willing to contribute their skill sets where possible.

All we need is a viable use case to move us forward, ideally, not one that is just a copy of another project.

Anyone want to throw some ideas out there?

Like you I have been staking MOIN for a long time now, I've been staking since late 2016 and continue to stake daily. I too would like to see MOIN listed on more exchanges but not sure about this ataix exchange. Unnamed exchange seems like a good exchange or maybe we can try and get listed on StakeCube which is a staking/masternode platform staking pool and also exchange. We can also vote on there using SCC coins so it can be worth a shot if the community gets on board and votes.
