In a sense... yes Rubies does depend on Moneypot.

Taken from the Rubies announcement thread (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-rubies-rbies-gaming-and-casino-entertainment-currency-1364104):
1.  Players that have already bet on Betterbets through Moneypot have received rubies.
2.  Players currently betting on Betterbets through Moneypot will earn 30 Rubies for every 1 Bitcoin wagered (effectively called the 'Bet-Mining' distribution process).

Moneypot does not depend on Rubies, but it is in our best interest to support a fair and widespread distribution for a much better experience especially when we integrate Rubies into our betting platform (currently estimated to be later this month or early next).

Betterbets currently profits from the success of Rubies because it already has it implemented.  Once Moneypot integrates it into the system, the rest of the app owners will benefit as well especially with the much higher betting speeds and faster withdrawals and sends that are capable from it.

For clarification, Moneypot was not aware of Rubies until it was publicly announced (Bjorn from Betterbets can confirm this).  We did not pre-buy any coins and have no plans on pumping or dumping the rubies.

If we came off as over-promoting something that is vital to Moneypot's growth, we apologize; this was not our intent.

We only aim to better Moneypot, its apps owners and its customers as a whole.

Confirmed, Rubies conceptually was created long before the sale of Moneypot occurred. Due to trying to arrange multiple developer's schedules, it was pushed back until February. On a side note, Moneypot Rubies integration was something I really wanted to occur as it just helps strengthen the currency even further. Many more sites will be coming as well, the main goal of Rubies is the exact inverse of 99.9% of altcoins. Build the framework/foundation for Rubies by giving it a real use-case, then work on the marketing and exchange rates for stability. It's really going even better than my expectations.

To a bright future,

Bjorn

The bet-mining will only apply to Betterbets.

Moneypot is setup in a way that if customers are visiting any Moneypot app, the chances of it bringing attention and traction to the other sites hosted on Moneypot are reasonably higher and benefits the entire Moneypot ecosystem.

Rubies will be part of a short number of alt-coins that we will be implementing into the gambling api amongst but not limited to coins like Ether, Dogecoin, and Litecoin.

Each have their own benefits.  Rubies was built in mind for a betting currency with terms of speed and ease of transfer.  For this reason, we think it's a valuable commodity to Moneypot.

Aaah, I didn't know that Betterbets.io created Rubies. Alright, that explanation helps a lot. So, what happens if Rubies is integrated within MP? Does the 30 Rubies per 1BTC apply for every app?

Its distribution is pretty much based solely on betting on Betterbets/Moneypot
How do you mean that? Does Rubies depend on Moneypot? Does Moneypot depend on Rubies? I don't get what you are trying to say here. Also, how does Betterbets profit from this (and why not the other apps on your website or do they profit from it as well)?

I'm not trying to bash Moneypot in anyway. I'm just trying to wrap my head around a few things.

We hear your thoughts and concerns.

We've since removed some statements.

Please realize though....

Rubies is not just a random alt-coin.

Its distribution is pretty much based solely on betting on Betterbets/Moneypot and we've announced quite a few times that there are plans to fully integrate it into the Moneypot system.

Although it would be nice to eventually be a top coinmarket cap contender with rubies, we're here to help the process of it being a fair and stable coin.

Fair and accessible distribution > Price.

The more people that have access to Rubies, the better... and the best way to do that is to be featured on the currently largest altcoin exchange.

Altcoin integration is a good thing, but the way this is posted makes it look like the MP team is explicitly encouraging a certain altcoin (and I'm not sure if that's a good idea).

It's sad to see moneypot is trying to pump an altcoin in their announcement topic.

Hi, we are not trying to pump an alt-coin, we are just trying to get an alt-coin that a large portion of our users hold onto Poloniex, which is currently the largest alt-coin exchange on the market. We are working on integrating Rubies across MoneyPot, along with a few other alt-coins (ETH, DOGE, LTC etc), we hope to have this process finished within the next couple months.

this seems to be a pretty good service for gamblers. It gives a lot more security to the gambler funds. This way the funds are always on the control of the player and not the sites
Actually the funds are in control of MoneyPot, so you will have to trust MoneyPot with the funds.

(I also do like the MP concept though, but I guess it's important to realize that. If you want control over your money, you need a real wallet where you are the only one with the private keys.)
