I think the thread is not really a bad Idea, i believe most of those accounts are accounts invading ban, some are invading negative trust and also accounts created just to cheat in bounty campaigns, I believe this thread will be very useful to detect altcoin accounts. I just hope the OP will make sure he keeps updating the thread so that the thread will be active.

Easy to find this information so there's no use for posting this kind of information because newbies cannot learn something on this post. But anyways still considering your efforts on compiling those registered names but maybe consider also that there are people are not comfortable to be list down on nonsense thing to them.

So same as other opinion that this post is not really helpful so I suggest that you should lock this thread to avoid any confusion on intention of this post.

It is only those who understands the important of this thread will appreciate it. Like today I was looking for a user in the forum and I couldn't see the user so what I did was, I just came to this thread and found  out the username. Even "The Waste Land" Poem by T. S  Elliot became useful in the world.

I don't understand. You couldn't find the user on the forum, so you found his name in the thread you created? It does not make sense.
Are you aware that it is possible to search this forum and all posts? You can even use third-party tools, such as ninjastic.space and bpip.org.

In less than six months of joining the forum, I think OP has found something he’s good at, collecting statistics seems to be his thing and his own way of contributing his part to the good of the forum. I think we will see more of your statistics in the future, and it will be more organized than how you started. Keep improving and take all this as motivation

Appreciate your efforts and won't say you wasted your time because you put in some efforts and mind to have this list but you also come to know so many other resources which members like @DdmrDdmr has mentioned in this thread that can help you lot more while compiling these stats.

See you have collected the list from 1-18thpage of B&H section only but there are lot more in local boards and other main sections of the forum who don't contribute to different boards so you are missing them. Moreover you can't update the full stats manually to update the thread because it's time consuming while the results will also be misleading as you selection criteria is limited and not covering each section of the forum.

Like this post by @Ratimov tells us the registration till 2021 and see he has used charts to make this data and might have used https://ninjastic.space/ for fetching this data.So use them and it's good you are curious to do these things but go the right way.

A lot of those accounts are bots or alts. This is not the correct data in my opinion. I also do not understand the need for creating this topic as it doesn't provide any important information to newbies. Everyone knows here that BTT is one of the biggest forum for Bitcoin. Try to create some useful topic from next time.

Goodnight, o_e_l_e_o 🌹
Dear Agbe,
I understand that you have this love for statistics. I came to this conclusion after seeing a topic of yours saying about quarterly achievements of bitcoin talk users. You did your best and yet recieved some backslashes. This is another thread where you put much effort and yet it's not appreciated by the community. If you feel compiling statistics is the way you want to impact the community, I have these two advice for you:
  • Spend time and learn from other senior users doing statistics. There are tons of topics from LoyceV, DdmrDdmr, Fillippone, Ratimov and lots more. Just quote their posts and copy the syntax, the tabular methods and fonts.
  • Determine if the statistics you want to share will be beneficial to the community or not. A topic filtering the newbies that receives most merits is good because it will tell
the future of bitcointalk. But a topic filtering newbies that only posts in beginners and Help will not impact the community.

In any case, in order to do it yourself, you’d need to play around with the User IDs on the profile URLs to find the Ids that correspond to the first and last users created on a given month (i.e. April 22 (*): https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/oswanio-3462332 .. https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/daniel3112-3472054). Trial and error. It took 2 minutes for me to find the prior Ids for accounts created during April 22.

A bitcoin talk account near the beginninng of this year is this profile: https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/amdr0meda-3428980
A bitcoin talk account that is about this point in time is this this profile: https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/ship000811-3480680

There is an approximately 50,000 numbers difference in the profile numbers at the end of those links, which means about 50k accounts have been created. As DdmrDdmr says, you can vary the number, and they always increment with new profiles. Most of these have zero posts.

LoyceV had created a list with all bitcointalk  accounts up to Nov 2019, so that may be useful: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/loycevs-complete-list-of-all-bitcointalk-usernames-5202231

Data were collected from beginners & help and from page 1 to page 18

Even though i appreciate your efforts in putting this little up together but i will ad well like to advise you in this manner, whenever there is a need for the collection of data in this regards then it should be properly done, this will bring out the beauty in it, if you take a look at @loyceV thread on The future of Bitcointalk: Low Ranking Top Merit earners in the past 30 days the data were accurate and updated, this could not just be done anyhow but the beauty is in the organization and quality efforts put together in creating it, i will as well advise if OP can get to develop himself more in learning how to extract data with the help of the experience users on the forum so as to do more better on this aspect in the nearest future.

The official forum stats that counted the number of new users per month (amongst other things) stopped being updated halfway through December 2017. Some people kept track for a while longer, but I don’t recall anyone tracing  the numbers currently.

Nevertheless:
-   The number of Bitcointalk created accounts per se is not really that representative of too much: many seem to be bot created and stay forever with 0 posts (more than those accounts that do post).

-   You were targeting those created and participating in B&H, so having the total global amount isn’t really the goal on this thread (unless you want to contrast the ratio between the two sets).

<…> I am also writing a project in University on Bitcoin so the demographic analysis needs the population of bitcoin users in this year. <…>
That’s quite a chimera. Obviously you’d be using sources outside the scope of the forum itself. I’ve seen various attempts here and there to estimate the population of bitcoin (not Bitcointalk) users per year, and logically they all resort to a wide range of hypothesis to try to estimate the figure one way or another.

(*) Exact IDs for the begining and end of a given month may vary in different timezones.

There have been ~50,000 users who registered on this forum during 2022, so about 10k / month.

Thanks you very much, but where is the source of your information? Because if I used that figure without source  it will affect my analysis

I am not lier. I collected the data in randomly. I didn't follow first come and first serve. Any user that I saw at the time of collecting the data, I used it. Please cross check the months again.
Lol it's more worse since you collected the data randomly, if you have worked on big data or data science major, you would get kicked for doing that since you're messing the data.

I mean, I will wait the next month about your update since you said you will update the new registered users every month and I will wait for the update for 6 months consecutive, you're the one who promise to update it every month, not me.

If you are doing a research on the number of bitcoin users in 2022, then you shouldn’t even be using this method for data collection. The research topic is too broad imo, you should be more specific and limit your research to a city or country. Your data will not be accurate if you only use the number of newly registered users in bitcointalk. The accounts you recorded may be bots, alts of old members, bounty hunters, spammers, e.t.c these categories are not new bitcoin users (remember bounty hunters concern themselves with mostly altcoins section of the forum) and their reasons for being here may not be genuine. You will need to collect data from other websites that have done similar research and so on.
I am pretty sure that not all users of Bitcoin are even registered here in Bitcointalk. They could be just reading around here as a Guest but do not really want to participate.
If OP is aiming to conduct such analysis, it would be a better to specify a specific area (e.g his/her local area) just like what you said.

...you didn’t signify the purpose of the thread, your deductions and observations of the new members, that would be something I hope you update. Well done!

For information purpose. So users can easily find other users here. I am also writing a project in University on Bitcoin so the demographic analysis needs the population of bitcoin users in this year. Abd I also thank those who sent Ninjastic bot and LoyceV bot to me through this thread.

There have been ~50,000 users who registered on this forum during 2022, so about 10k / month.

So, I think you may be falling a little short here with your numbers.

However, what is interesting is discerning what the new users are after. For example, what percentage of new users who are asking about their ancient unproven bitcoin who have < 5 posts? How many claim to be Satoshi? How many ask questions that actually appear legitimate (and not fishing for information to scam users)? How many move onto having signature campaigns?

There are interesting questions here if you are willing to look for them, and perhaps you are doing so but it is not evident yet. If you ask questions on this forum, I'm certain experienced users may have be able to recommend additional tools.

Good luck

2. Alright now I know @3rek0s3 is the first user created on 2022 and @MetaHusk is the last user created on May 2022, what's next? it's really something we need to know every accounts created in this forum?

For a moment I thought my screen broke, the lines you drew almost gave me an heart attack  Cheesy Now on a serious note, I can tell you put a lot of effort into this long post, collecting this data manually wouldn’t have been easy. Did you try using Ninjastic bot or LoyceV bot to see if they already have the data you’re looking for or a feature that can make your search easier. To conclude your research, you didn’t signify the purpose of the thread, your deductions and observations of the new members, that would be something I hope you update. Well done!
