1. Why does Mooncoin need a new logo at all? I have not read a single really valid reason.
2. Since when has been Discord - or whatever it is called - an official outlet of information for MOON? It seems a group of newbies tries to pull the interest over to that channel. For whatever reason, we don't know.
3. It seems that Discord needs a registration only to read. A no-go, to be accepted as an official source of information.
4. It looks like a small group of MOON-newbies is trying to see a "logo-contest" as what is needed for MOON "to survive". Think about what really can be done for MOON, instead of that logo-kindergarten.

In my opinion the original MOON-logo created by deaconboogie is the one and only logo that is needed, which may be optimized slightly, OK, but not now. Regarding this, I'm of the same opinion as another long-term contributor: agswinner. Other serious long-term supporters have expressed their opinion about this needless logo-rave also. There are really more important things to do, than a new logo.

Can you pop onto the Discord for just a second to see the channel for yourself and how it's laid out?
We're not voting on a just one or two things, it will be many submissions.

It should help to show how organized and simple it is. We've disabled commenting in the poll channel,
and only designers can post their submissions. All we have to do is add voting reactions once the deadline
is up and count them once the voting period is over. Simple!

In the case of one logo submission last time, the votes went up 60+ just hours before the voting period was over.
We were able to see via the logs that is was a botnet that submitted all those votes which made removing
them and getting an *accurate* count an easy matter.

Please understand that until you see it for yourself, you can't understand why we are adamant on using
the Discord for all important voting matters until something better comes along.

It's OUR Discord channel. It's open for all Mooncoin holders and enthusiasts. No one person owns it; we ALL do.

If you actually think of the process of posting 20+ designs/logos and their descriptions on a forum, and try to integrate a
voting system into it as well, you would quickly realize how convoluted and time consuming that would be. Imagine:

LOGO POST

LOGO POST

Random post; user asking for help, etc.

A person voting

LOGO POST

A person voting

The first person changing their vote by making a new post instead of editing their original post

LOGO POST

Random post; user asking for help, etc.

Random post; user asking for help, etc.

A person voting

It would be hundreds of posts to scour over and a logistical nightmare. Seriously; click the link for the Discord (https://discord.gg/Hhbmdjd) and go
there to view and vote unless you can propose a simpler way that is already established.

Incidentally, getting people to sign up for the Discord and get involved isn't a bad thing. Just a
quick look through this ANN from beginning to end should tell you that it was only the few doing anything until
the Discord was formed.

Ah...IC.

I didn't mean to see the design 1 by 1 here.  I was asking for if that would be hard to upload all designs somewhere with descriptions and post 1 link here to see.

I just don't understand why people can see all designs at Discord but not here...

I thought voting will be placed on top of the messages like...
,

not like people posting their votes by commenting messages.

People will register Discord account by using email address, right?  So...what would be the difference opening account here by using email address?  Both can create multiple account, right?

I am not disagreeing...just don't understand why Discord must be the only option to see designs / votes, not here.

Regarding the logo contest:
Discord is great, but why not to post all proposals and accept votes also here? Here, in this ANN + at Discord?
Many people read this thread, it's transparent, you even don't have to be a registered user to read it.
If to vote everything at Discord only, it will be more centralized anyway.

And better to post not only a pic for a logo proposal, but also a short description, its concept, what does it symbolise etc.
It would help people make a good decision and would not affect MOON.
That would not work because people would be able to place multiple votes then. Discord is just as transparent and getting in there is a 1 min job. And if a user wanted to vote here, he/she has to sign up as well.

A decentralized vote simply does not work because it cannot be verified.

Simply put; because it would be cumbersome as hell.

It's already a requirement to post a short description of a logo submission.

It takes literally 10 seconds to sign up for an account to vote. People will do it and have their voices heard, or they won't.

Have you been onto the Discord at all? Check out the #moon_polls channel wayyy at the top to see the original contest outline.

The new logo contest poll has now been posted in the #moon_polls channel on the Discord.

Those wishing to submit their logos please do so within 7 days before the deadline is up.
Voting will then occur over 3 days. Please take a few minutes to register with the Discord
ASAP in order to vote. Link here: https://discord.gg/Hhbmdjd

- If you CHOOSE not to vote, you have no recourse... you have ZERO right to complain.

Is it that that that that that hard to post the link that uploaded all designs and make a vote here?

It's kind like if we don't register YOUR Discord Channel, that's your problem, and you don't have a right to see the designs & don't have right to vote & don't have a right to complain.

Anyway, I think it is great to see all logos created in public like here.   Grin

- If you MISS the contest entirely, you have ZERO right to complain as it means you were
not active for 10 days in the Community; only in an extreme case would someone be without
the Internet for such a period of time. The contest will be posted in every single social media
outlet we have available to us.

- If you dislike, hate, or generally disagree with this logo contest, that is fine and your opinion
is valid. The vote will show what the Community wants.

In other words... if all you do is hold MOON and only show your face to complain or bitch about things
rather than join the Community in the many different ways available to you to engage in conversation,
project brainstorming or offer help with your specific talents, then you have ZERO right to complain.

DO SOMETHING. BE ACTIVE. GET INVOLVED. Smiley

Who is an admin of Discord channel (just asking for his moniker at Bitcointalk?)
Is the Discord channel moderated by an admin?

The original maker of the Discord and current Admin is Zareeth. There are currently 6 other Admins as well:

Littlestan, Alex, Evangelo, Redectro, Jasper, and Simon (Big).

There are also 16 moderators besides Admin to help out with questions and etc.

There are lots of competitors, can we be sure that you are not from them, with a brand new account?
Or did you just join crypto? Please PM with your skills and other details,
also would be great to confirm that you own a good amount of MOON and have a good motivation before joining the work.

Commands allowed to use ML even without a wallet at all (miners could record a command onto the blockchain, while common users could just input a command on their websites or even at their forum pages),
however there were some big disadvantages:
a) the idea was so uncommon that people simply didn't understand that at all,
b) archive services, even if we use several independent services for saving a single webpage with a command, like it was implemented, is not a 100% decentralised solution and some web archive services are not available in some countries.
It worked anyway though via web forms, but people didn't use it,
c) some old members (e.g. coinflow) criticised the idea, citing difficulties for common users, the whole idea of inputting Linux-like commands, and potential bloating of the blockchain (obviously in case of decentralised archiving), also citing that if people don't understand the uncommon crypto concept, it looks like a scam for them, and that can affect a classic coin - of course, all these arguments are valid and should be taken into account,
d) ML was assumed to be not for sale, not for exchanges, and people were absolutely not interested in using and receiving it,
e) people wanted the wallet, they wanted to see their tokens in the wallet, not just in block explorers, at websites.

The test versions of ML which were launched before - technically they worked, but they couldn't receive real usage due to disadvantages, described above.
People were not motivated to use those versions and didn't use them.
That's why it doesn't make any sense to try to promote or develop these old test versions.

ML (Smart Likes) are being redesigned and will be announced very likely in this July and in several variants (modes),
however as many things depend on barrysty1e's work, no 100% guarantee on ETA.

There will be no Linux-like commands and no web archiving any longer, it will be simplier to use,
you will not be able to use it with no wallets/clients though (like it was designed initially, please see above).

Then it probably will depend on the community: people will test it and say what they consider as the best mode, the most interesting and comfortable one - for using on a daily basis. Anyway the project can add some potential/or immediate usage to MOON, even if some old members consider it as a thing related to useless "gimmicks".

Very happy to hear about the smart future improvements/features. Is there a git where we can follow the progress? Is there any way developers in the community can help, im a developer myself and I'd love to help with the smart likes features if that's possible.

Can you please post here all logo proposals that participate in the contest?

You'd like me to link every image that is submitted to be voted on here in the ANN?

I'll link the Discord; anyone interested in voting or seeing the images can simply click on it to view.

Not everyone want to use Discord.

Why you want and demand to change the CURRENT logo? What is wrong with it? Is it mandatory and necessary at this point?
Is this the most important thing about Mooncoin at the moment? Logo contest?
Better logo suggestion can appear at any moment and if embraced by the community to replace the current one.
I did not saw any better logo so far from the previous "contest".

Shouldn't we look for building real economy behind Mooncoin instead?

It looks like few people make decisions on behalf of the Mooncoin community and their true intentions are not clear.

I was here mining Mooncoin on the first night of its very existence. Currently, I am working on Mooncoin based project.

It's not about ME. The same way it's not about YOU. It's about the MAJORITY of active Mooncoin holders wanting a logo change.

Would you like to hold a poll to see which active Community members would like to see a logo change? Because we already
did that previous to the original logo contest... and guess what the result was?

I'm seriously tired of fighting you guys here; the vote is happening, the result will be conclusive, your *single* or *few* opinions do
not matter unless a majority of people in the Community also agree. You don't HAVE to use the Discord, but it's a damn sight better
way to communicate than a forum where posts happen so rarely. If it seems FEW people make the decisions on behalf of Mooncoin
then you don't understand what a poll is and I don't have the energy to explain to you why the democratic process is the complete opposite
of what you're suggesting.

To everyone here; STOP COMPLAINING. Vote for the original logo if you enjoy it and think 'everyone' else does too. Vote for something
else if you would prefer to see a change.

This logo thing wasn't SUPPOSED to be a big deal, but the few whiners here made it that way, so that is why we're doing it again. Blame them.

And about the SmartLikes platform:
very likely old members remember that the first ML test version was announced in early 2016, it was a completely new idea then, not sure, if a bit later STEEM was inspired by this idea or it was just a coincidence,
anyway even if they modified the idea, it was not just a copy-paste.

Then there were several absolutely different ML test versions (some people contributed their time, ideas, labour to work on it, thanks for that),
some of test versions used commands which users could input at their personal pages, wherever on the web,
then to save it via web archives (like webcitation.org etc.), and then onto the Mooncoin blockchain, even there was an idea of decentralized archiving...

We have a good community here, it's important.
Crypto is interesting and can surprise.
MOON is not just one of 1000, it's a known coin with a lot of supporters,
and one of quite few coins which are truly decentralized.

MOON already survived thousands Altcoins, so it's a good sign.
As for real use, currently your projects (thank you people for working on them) matter,
if projects are interesting and use MOON, if other people join the projects, use these services etc, it will automatically lead to real usage of MOON.
Will live and see, MOON has some great advantages over other coins, it was discussed many times.

The same applies to the other near 1000 altcoins out there...

You seem a good guy, someone with a vested interest in MOON because you wish for it to succeed, I sense no greed on your part at all.

I wish you success, I really do. MOON was one of the coins that was around when I was frequenting the crypto world years ago so would like for it to succeed but it will not be easy.
