I'm adore how bitcoin are but this may be the side effect of bitcoin that being use for negative purpose.  Undecided

Anyway my local mall also being extort by noob terrorist recently that will blow up it's toilet. He asked for 10 BTC ransom.
But at the end , he being captured by police on his place. When police asked why he did that , he answered that he want to make some money.
What a shame that person was a IT officer !

this is just spam email or you can consider like that, paying 25 bitcoin for them who don't even have a proof that they can make a DDOS attack with 1TB/s,better use that money for upgrading server with higher specification + pay DDOS protection from the server provider rather than paying those low life scum
and using free email address is not cool while they got a 1TB/s DDOS attack

I believe the reason behing those message is just to make people buy their service, otherwise you would warn no one that you will hack the website, think on the other side ,this people will be scared easy and will improve their protection soo we will be selling something in the past were hard to sell..Meaning they will get a up on sales from this moment.Sure some would like to pay,to avoid the attack but honesty online are very hard,i know anonymous group can organize a huge attack but they wont act against someone without the proof that they are damaging the people.

The real question is why do people still find this surprising? There are probably a lot of fiat demands as well but the media does not focus on those individual stories ...

Sure. The difference being you gotta reveal identity/leave Mom's basement to extort fiat. Bitcoin? Not so much.

The companies who receives emails like these should just ignore it, if they pay the ransom some other group will target them again. taking backup of whole system is absolute necessary and also implementation of protection against ddos.

Ok, So you pay and a month from now, they do the same thing and ask for more.... what is stopping them to do the same? Nothing... I would rather spend that money on a security specialist and get

stronger security precautions in place to stop these kinds of attacks. You have to weigh up the risks and determine what options would render the best possible result and stop continues attacks in the

future.  Sad

The other attacks that i had info about, they first doosed the company and after that asked for bitcoin payment to stop. They never asked before, i think that this one is from someone that try to earn fast money spamming e-mails. They provably will not attack any of the companys, only try to earn fast money.

The real question is why do people still find this surprising? There are probably a lot of fiat demands as well but the media does not focus on those individual stories. Keep in mind that two days ago hackers almost managed to steal $1 Billion from the banks, but ended up stealing $81 Million. This just tells us that people need to stop ignoring security and hire really good experts to protect their services/systems.

You must not give in to the demands though. As soon as you do that it is highly likely that they will keep asking for more.

Every little "hacker" is now trying to get some bitcoins this way and companies need to tighten up their IT Security and start taking backups on regular basis, because this is unstoppable. Precaution is only way to fight this.

This was to be expected after all the recent ransom demands.. It is very unfortunate and I really hope these companies will never cave to these types of demands, especially if there is no proof at all of the capabilities of the attackers.

We will likely see more of these type of demands from people claiming to be part of some kind of group. Best to just ignore it.

Lmao. This is coming straight from bunch of losers who probably learnt the meaning of Ddos like 24 hours back.Someone please tell the company not to pay this fools a penny ,they can't harm you at all.I think these are the same twats who sent Bomb threat to an Indian Airport.Rather the company should take an strict action and trace them.

EDIT : They're not related to Armada Collective at all. After a little bit of research,I found out Armada Collective totally have a different style of attacking.

All your servers will be DDoS-ed starting Monday (March 14) if you
don't pay protection - 25 Bitcoins @
17j7onEtLgS2pd6qLekKQCteqTrnAFXZVS
If you don't pay by Monday, attack will start, price to stop will
increase to 50 BTC and will go up 20 BTC for every day of attack.

This is not a joke.
Our attacks are extremely powerful - sometimes over 1 Tbps per second.
So, no cheap protection will help.

Prevent it all with just 25 BTC @ 17j7onEtLgS2pd6qLekKQCteqTrnAFXZVS

Do not reply, we will not read. Pay and we will know its you. AND YOU
WILL NEVER AGAIN HEAR FROM US!
Bitcoin is anonymous, nobody will ever know you cooperated.
