There is trouble abrewing
i have been thinking about this subject for a long time and even studied many of the ICO projects that has existed.

but so far i have not been able to come to a complete conclusion as to what i should consider when speculating about the future of an ICO project. and after reading this topic i see only one or maybe two good points but in the end i say it is not worth investing in any ICO because they are too unpredictable.

and you say things like team, that may be a good criteria but at the same time, an experienced team can easily mean and experienced team in fooling you into a scam.

Eloncoin.org - Mars, here we come!

Those criteria of choosing to invest in ICO as Follows;

- The developer must have a good track record in doing the campaign in the past.
- The project should be realistic and attainable too.
- It must have a good history for the investors before, because if they don't any of it better not joining the ico campaign.
That's the only thing came up into my mind.

The project should also try to solve a real issue and not just look to replace bitcoin or be the next bitcoin.  Altcoin can not replace the Bitcoins, not even in next decade.

Good points. I also feel that the investors should try to avoid projects which have anonymous devs as we have seen a lot of scams
happening in coin with anonymous team members. The other is objectives and goals set up the team and how far can it be achievable.

I think learn about ICO will be long time until i know it is legit or not, but for me it is same with making investment on trading altcoins.
I don't have any specipicly criterias of choosing ICO but the most commons criterias when making investment.
Always use free bitcoin and be ready for lost them on ICO.

Hi,

I am considering, there are so many criterias which can influence a decision to invest or not in current ICO Crowdsale? Are you able to exclude top 5 criterias which are the most important (and why?) for your decision to invest or not? (ROI? Team? Relevance of project? …

After studying their roadmap plus the proposed developments and projects in the future.... play with the risk that's it. That's how risky altcoin investment is.

Aside from that, it's a matter of people's view on a certain ICO if that will be succesful or not. If you have the guts to invest then go on. After all some of the new coins on ICO are offered in cheap price. If you think that you are not comfortable with that then better forget altcoin investment.

More importantly don't believe in a disclaimer like "It will worth billion someday". lol.
I just give once example like ebitz totally they've made the roadmap for clearly but at the end was turning into the scam project. Honestly about the great point for verification about the promises projects, always look at the project was using the trust escrow.

I agree. Dont believe extravagant promises and look for coins with serious potential to disrupt something.

Just don't invest in ICOs and you will be good. You can buy them later on the open markets if the project and the team is true.
This advice would be best to do and im doing the same thing too on which i dont really like to invest on ICO because i would like to see first if a particular coin does have a potential when it launches 1 month after and thats the time i would decide if i have to put or invest on it.Im quiet hesitant now to invest on ICO because of previous scams which causes a lost of huge money.

The problem with these new coins is that almost all the innovation has been tapped out already.

What I mean by that is there are no new ideas that aren't already in the works. There are no new developers that aren't working on projects already. What you have left are hack ideas and hack developers. Id say you should find a coin that is already listed, that you believe in because of what they have already done, not because of what they promise to do in the distant future.

That ICO train has left the station and what you see now is sad to say the least.

I agree, too many coins already invented, some success and anothers failed.
Success on the launch does not mean the coin could last for a long time with high demand and higher price.
The most important thing to consider is, how the coin could compete with another coins, what this coin offered to the people?

I suggest it's better to buy mid coin shows why ico running like that if you buy coins mid-ico walk a lot of people who mine the coin is a coin auctioning it.

I often invest in those ICOs who have a complete currency like if a team have a currency and do not have any purpose for that currency then I know that it will not have a good demand and if a team will have a purpose of the coin like when the coin is used in the market for something then I know that it will have a high demand and will increase in value.

Stoned & Stranged

But there's lost of money to be made flipping ico's if you get in early and out on time. Even holding some long term paid off like with waves and with eth.

There is lots of money to be made playing lottery too but most of the people lose. As for waves and eth and some other legit ICOs, even buying low and selling high when they got on exchanges paid off, only difference is that you didn't have your BTC in developer's hands for months or a year to see profit back.

How much money you want to flush down the toilet.
This exactly.  The size of your bowl.  OP, don't fall for this shit.  Everyone on this forum who 'invests' in ICOs is looking to do the same thing, which is get in early with the hope that the devs of whatever particular coin aren't complete liars.  But they're all complete bullshit coins that have no advantage over bitcoin OR the 1000s of other shitcoins on the market.  Just stay away.  Far, far away.

ESCROW AND RELEASE GOALS!

Exactly,
1. ico has reliable multi-escrow is important, also needs to release partial fund until specific milestone has been done.
2. great team, and publish the team info.
3. innovative idea
4. not overvalued, overvalued ico will be dumped sub ico, would be losses there.

But how do you know if its overvalued? I now know how to value a company.

Honestly i do not trust ICO's maybe after their release but if you want to be safe better to not invest your money in ico.. much better to choose old altcoin that actually good in rankings and high marketcap.. than newly altcoin or ico's
