The Wolf of Wall Street try watching the uncensored version its bloody brilliant one of my best recommendation being a movies lover worth a watch !!! Smiley

So I finally bought the movie and watched it.
It wasn't too bad, but it wouldn't have to be 3 hours of screenplay. Also, in my opinion all the nudity and drugs were a bit over the top.

Had they shot all of the scenes in the original book, the film would've easily been 4+ hours. And there's even more drugs and whatnot in the book... I feel like they might've toned it down a little if anything.

I didn't know that, haven't read the book.
Would you recommend reading the book after having watched the movie?

I think watching the film before you read the book just spoils the novel. A good book will paint the vision for you, but once you've seen the film you already have the images in your head. I usually try put off watching films until I've read the book.

I watched American Hustle earlier. David O. Russell was definitely trying to emulate Scorsese here. The trailer made it look funnier than it was. I found it so-so overall.

I think I should re-watch Wolf of Wall Street...

Otherwise, I went to see Need for Speed and it was exactly what I thought it would be: Predictable and stupid, but fun nonetheless. The car scenes are pretty amazing since they had zero CGI.

Watched Wolf of Wall Street. Thought it was decent; a few laughs but quite dull in places. They could've cut a lot out and made it much more digestible. Was impressed with Hill's performance though.

That punch to the face that he took in the middle of the movie was real.   Scorcese thought that the choreographed punch didn't look authentic enough.   Jonah said that he got punched so hard that it broke his fake teeth

i love movies, especially hollywood movie, japan & korean movie, and thai movie too (especially horror genre)
I just figured it'd be fun to start a thread to recommend movies to one another. With that said, feel free to share the good (and bad) stuff you've seen lately and if you want a recommendation, ask away!

As for me, I watched Prisoners recently and was pleasantly surprised. It's a very heavy film, but both Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal were amazing in their performances. Very well-written script, too.

Have at it!
prisoner's actor are amazing, agree with you.
jackman and jake performance are exceptional
but some of my friends don't like the ending, hmm..

Ask your friends how they would've ended it. I thought it ended exactly where it should have.

After Jackman would be found, he'd simply be sent to prison.. Doesn't make for a great ending. As it stands, it's a tad ambiguous, but still.

If you like documentaries, I watched "Narco Cultura" last night and it was pretty well made.   It is about the Narcos and the Mexican Cartels.   Really graphic, and a lot of parts are hard to watch (because it is real footage), but it is one of the better documentaries I have seen in a while...

The Best movie ever is, Barbie Princesses 2.

I prefer the first one, but they're both criminally underrated.

Has anyone watched "The Man From Earth"?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0756683/

I saw it a few years back and just remembered now; what an awesome concept! The whole movie takes place inside a room with a bunch of people discussing on an interesting topic.
My description may sound a bit uninteresting but you'll thank me once you've watched the movie, believe me!

Recently for the first time in my life I've watched Forrest Gump... Jeez this movie is really inspirational. 10/10tothemoon etc. No wonder it's in IMDB top.

Forrest Gump is in the ranks of probably the best 20 movies of all time...

I've never seen Forest Gump.

I watched Sharknado yesterday. It was shit, but not worst film of all time bad, but it wasn't one of those it's so bad it's good films either. I need to start watching some good films haha. Wolf of Wall Street & American Hustle will probably be up next.

sharknado...lol!  I didn't watch it, but I heard it was sooo bad.   I think it made a lot of money though so they are making a sequel.  It has the actors that had a few decent movies but didn't quite make it to the big leagues...

The only "big" actors it had was John Heard and Tara Reid, but neither were in it for long. The sequel is out in July.
