Watched Leon for the first time in forever last night. It held up pretty well!

Which version did you watch? Apparently one is more paedo-y.

Think that I saw the extended version, was a pretty good film.

I haven't seen the nonce version haha. Both cuts are on the blu ray which I've got though.

Yeah, the International version's better than the American "cut" version.

Watched Rush. Being an F1 fan, that was a fantastic picture,
as well as some great all round.
Just surprised why was it ignored for the Oscars.

Rush was really good, and I am not even an F1 fan really.  I think because F1 is not all that popular in the United States it got overlooked for a lot of the major awards...

If you want to scare people off drugs or w/e without goverment propaganda the movie reindeerspotting is one of the best drug documentaries I've ever seen. It's in Soumi tho, and the only subtitles I could find were Swedish. Very close up shots of junkies shooting up, stealing, accidents - it's a very raw documentary. The main person hung himself a while after the movie was released, there are pictures on him hanging on the internet.

Speaking of prisons anyone seen Oz? Used to love that back in the day, but I never saw it all as I just used to catch episodes every now and again when it was on late night TV.

Used to be on HBO...loved that show.

Now I gotta download all the seasons...thanks!

Send me a bit of Bitcoin and I'll burn them to a blu ray for ya  Wink. HBO is pretty consistent for Dramas. They've made a lot of the best ones.

If we are talking HBO series... The Wire is always a classic

The majority of people say it's a classic but I'm not a massive fan of it, but I only watched the first two seasons. I'll give the series another go sometime though.

I think because watching it now, it seems so old because a lot of shows have copied it (and maybe improved on it), so watching it now it seems so outdated.   While it was originally airing, it was like better than anything ever before.

Kinda like when you watch a movie that was scary when you were young, and if you watch it again now it is almost ridiculous...

What shows have copied it? I don't think it has to do with how old it is, but it's just a bit slow to get in to. People say it gets better with every watch, but I don't have time to watch 5-6 seasons of a show several times to see if it's true  Cheesy.

I wouldn't say that they copied it literally, but a lot of police and detective shows have similar themes with the so-called heroes and villains.  It is definitely a slow watch, but it is something easy to get into if you have a bunch of time to burn on a rainy day or something.   Another show that people rave about that I haven't really gotten into at all is Sons of Anarchy..

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, is funny as hell

I think that's how all cops shows work  Cheesy.

Seen the first season of Sunny and wasn't a fan of it at all. I very rarely like American sitcoms.

so did you dislike Donnie Darko too, or just Southland Tales?  Is it just not your type of movie, or did you think it was bad in general?

I thought Donnie Darko was the shit about 10 years ago. It hasn't aged all too well... Richard Kelly hasn't done anything of note since then, either. So yeah, I didn't think Southland Tales was all that good, though it was a bit interesting. I don't car enough to re-visit it, though.

He's only done The Box since Southland, and I haven't seen that.

You might as well skip it... He's written a few screenplays, but nothing of note.

The Box?   Was that the movie where the person receives a box, and if they push the button they get a bunch of money, but someone around the world dies because of it?   I remember seeing that movie and being into it, but then it went off on this weird tangent and lost my interest...
