Testnet Bitcoin is now active on the faucet!

From what I see the faucet is already dry. This means that you either were too generous, either somebody has already abused your faucet.
Quite sad...

Testnet Bitcoin is now active on the faucet! I don't even have a whole tBTC, so please feel free to donate some to the faucet (I'm going to try and mine some)!

Claim tBTC: https://testnet-faucet.com/btc-testnet

If you wan't a tbtc donation it would be great (for you) to provide the address here,
so all can donate to you with tbtc.

 Wink

and yes, I would donate you a bit

You brought up a good point, the systems I have to prevent abuse are: recaptcha2, IP address logging, and address logging. I make it so the user can only claim once per hour. Yes, you might say, what if I opened up Tor and browsed? Fair point, but I'm going to allow tor IPs for now as I like decentralization and I know some devs like their anonymity, but if people like you said, start to abuse the faucet and I see the IPs are tor endpoints. Then I will block access to the site from tor IPs.

Hopefully there aren't any abuser, but if there are any, i doubt blocking IP will do much due to amount of Tor exit node and free VPN.

If you have any other suggestions or advice on how I can prevent abuse, please let me know!

I doubt regular users like me can offer suggestion or advice that could outperform reCAPTCHA. At most i only can suggest you create your own anti-bot (such as math problem written with human language such as "two + 2 + y = twenty 1", which annoy the abuser for short time since they need to create script to solve it automatically.

That's a good idea! I've seen many self made math captchas before and that can work as my handwriting is not excellent (it's bad lol), it will surly be hard for a script to solve it!

Glad to see more tbtc faucets Smiley

I wanted to check it out, but it's not only the faucet that's down, but your complete host (or so it seems).
Thank you for letting me know! The httpd server crashes from an overload and causes the whole server to temporally freeze.

As for preventing abuse, i use a combination on my faucet:
  • A captcha (not recaptcha)
  • an ip blocklist
  • a "smart" payout script.... I bulk send payouts once per hour, and the script handling the payouts checks for a limited amount of parameters before adding payment to the bulk list. If abuse is detected, the user's ip is added to the blocklist and the payment is deleted without payout
Thank you for your tips! I'm thinking about doing some IP blocks on IPs that are known to abuse services. I will also take a look at sending the payments in bulk as that will help lower the amount of transactions sent which will lower the stress and memory consumption on the mempool.

The faucet goes offline every now and then and that's because I'm downloading 3 blockchains at once. I apologize about this, but in a few hours, it should all be finished!

Edit: The faucet is down temporally as I'm speedily downloading all the blockchains for the other coins on the faucet. Please give me about 6 hours to get it all downloaded!

The testnet Dogecoin faucet is online and I sent about 9000 tDOGE to the faucet to test it. It's still syncing, but will be usable soon! https://testnet-faucet.com/doge-testnet/

On a side note, do you have any mechanism to prevent abuse? According to https://kuttler.eu/en/post/detecting-fraudulent-activity-bitcoin-testnet-faucet/, there are people who actively abuse testnet faucet

On a side note, I created a testnet mining pool too! https://testnetpool.com Here is the Bitcoin Talk thread for the pool if you're interested: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/closed-multi-coin-testnet-mining-pool-5258017

Sorry I am newbie in this regard.

Keep in mind that this is a TESTNET faucet. This means it delivers worthless coins.
The coins are useful only for people and developers testing various features.

Since you are newbie you could for example test the features of a certain wallet (but you have to start in a special mode, for testnet). There's nothing else you could use those coins for and it's nice to send them back after you've finished with the tests.

Maybe this is the wrong category of this forum for a faucet?

Since the testnet faucets are most useful for developers this is a very good place for a testnet faucet to be announced.

TL;DR: if you are into faucets to gather coins hoping they'll make you rich someday (which is something you'll find out later it doesn't worth your time), this is not a faucet for you.

Hi Tech1k!

Can you please explain what a faucet is? Sorry I am newbie in this regard.

Maybe this is the wrong category of this forum for a faucet?

Thx and best regards

Don't be sorry - we were all newbies at one point  Wink

A faucet is a website that gives out usually small amounts of crypto to users (satoshi amounts) every hour. The crypto is usually stored in the faucet until you reach the minimum withdraw amount set by the faucet. Fun fact: the first faucet gave out 5 BTC per claim!

I posted this here as I created a faucet for the testnet and the testnet is usually used by developers to test their projects without using real Bitcoin that's worth money (testnet coins are not worth anything).

Take care and best wishes,
Tech1k Cool

Hello crypto lovers and developers!

I created this faucet as I've noticed that there are only a few faucets where you can get testnet coins and most are only Bitcoin, so I wanted to create an all-in-one testnet faucet that has practically every coin with a testnet and is in demand!

If you would like to see a new coin or if you created a coin that you would like to see here on the faucet, please feel free to contact me or post it in the thread!

List of coins on the faucet:
