Presale is live!
I have an "unconfirmed" Multibit transaction with over 50,000 confirmations on the network. I just gave up trying to recover it since it is only worth $15 or so. The funny (or not so funny) part is if Bitcoin becomes worth $1,000,000 someday that transaction will be worth over $5,000. It is crazy to think how much money will be "lost" if Bitcoin price ever reaches that point. Literally billions of dollars worth just gone.

You mean you want to sweep them into Litecoin core? or you already have them in Litecoin Core and want to send them somewhere else? Huh

If you already have your coins in Litecoin Core... why would you want to change? It isn't that bad to sync up the blockchain on Litecoin... it isn't as big as the BTC blockchain Tongue

But if you want a lightweight LTC wallet, I believe there is a version of Electrum for LTC that is actively developed. I cannot comment on whether or not it is any good though.

ok. thank s. i will read up and use the electum . so by exporting  and sweeping , i will get back the 1 bitcoin already sent ?

Yes, you should do. If you sweep you only have to backup a string of words that you are given when you create a standard electrum wallet. They are called its seed words and are all you need to recover from a disaster. If you import your multibit private key into electrum you need to save a backup of it in case your wallet gets corrupted.

i have exported the private keys as described. downloaded electrum and tried to sweep but tit is not working. i also saw about 5 lines of private key and i choose the most recent dated one and inputed in electron wallet under wallet  - private keys - sweep ...   and it says no transaction. I a, lost . How do i just get back my 1 bitcoin pls ?

Anybody can you help ?

Try importing them into electrum instead. Copy them as a list into electrum as shown in this screenshot.

This linked webpage explains how to import private keys into electrum.

I was suspecting maybe it was the old version. so how do i get back the 1 bitcoin send when i upgrade to either of them ?
thanks

First you should back up your private key from your multibit wallet. You can use these instructions to do that.

Start multibit, select the wallet containing your coins, then click "tools", then select "export private keys" as shown in the screenshot.

A new tab should open like the one below. Select "do not password protect export file" at the bottom of the window, then click the "export private keys button".

Click the windows start button, then copy and paste the line of text below into the search box that appears, then press the enter key to open the hidden folder containing your multibit wallet files.

%appdata%\Multibit

This is what your search box should look like after you have copied and pasted the line above into it.

Inside the folder that opens there should be a file with an extension ending in ".key". Open it in notepad and copy your wallet's private key. In the example file below the private key is the bit in red.

Quote
# KEEP YOUR PRIVATE KEYS SAFE !
# Anyone who can read this file can spend your bitcoin.
#
# Format:
#   [[]]
#
#   The Base58 encoded private keys are the same format as
#   produced by the Satoshi client/ sipa dumpprivkey utility.
#
#   Key createdAt is in UTC format as specified by ISO 8601
#   e.g: 2011-12-31T16:42:00Z . The century, 'T' and 'Z' are mandatory
#

# End of private keys

After backing up your private key you can use these instructions to either sweep, or import your coins into electrum. Sweeping's probably the best choice.

Even the latest version of multibit classic is out of date. It's better to use electrum because it has an active dev.

..I use multibit wallet version.5.16 and i sent 1 Bitcoin on Saturday  to my localbitcoin wallet address and today is Monday and it has not been received

i assume you mean you are using multibit classic version 5.16. It's out of date and can send a type of transaction the network no longer accepts.

You can choose to upgrade to the latest version of multibit classic, but the maximum fee it can pay is often too low to get fast confirmations if the network's overloaded. The devs aren't likely to fix that problem, so you are better off switching to using the electrum wallet.

The latest version of multibit classic is available here.

We cannot give you solid advice without the transaction id or something to work with. How much did you pay for the transaction fee? If you made

this tx in the last week or so, it will not be the tx fee that are giving you the problems. I have done tx's with the minimum fee and it still went

through, because the MemPool is virtually empty, compared with the last month or so.  Wink Give more info, just blank out the personal info.  Roll Eyes

Dear All ,

I would need some help with my bitcoin transaction.  I use multibit wallet version.5.16 and i sent 1 Bitcoin on Saturday  to my localbitcoin

wallet address and today is Monday and it has not been received . I am guessing it has to do with the fees but i dont know how to adjust the

fees or what to do o get my bitcoin back . it is frustrating. Can some help me redress this issue Huh thanks
Once you send a transaction with low fees, you must wait for it to be confirmed and when not confirmed p, they return the bitcoin back to your wallet, there is no way to adjust transaction fee after being sent.
