All others are just additional benefits of been on the forum and not what the forum is. The forum isn't some platforms to generate income for yourself although it offers such benefits and that isn't to be abuse. The moment you start thinking of the forum as a money making ground you begin to lose focus  trust me I have been there.

I will not agree less to this sir,
Many people already has lost focus from inception, they do not add anything to the forum, they only gain much of monetary than knowledge.  As stated by you, the forum has only an unbiased aim of discussing bitcoin, that we shall continue to do. Maybe these other factors are carrots on donkey. I have digested your advice and will not be distracted. Thank you.

Thanks so much for all the vital information thus given.
Because just like a popular saying people always say "That the level of information is what differentiate a rich man from a poor man". And you have just given it for free to us all. May God bless you Sir.
When it comes to information, one need not be stingy with it. It is same information that brought me here few months ago, yet this forum is about a decade old. This should show you the power of information. Infact I am tempted to say that "wrong information is better than no information". Because a wrong information will lead you to research or investigate, in the process you know the truth but no information will leave you stagnant for life.

Because sometimes, when I sit down and think, I just wonder what have I been doing online all this while and never knew about this awesome forum Bitcoin talk.org, because I just can't compare the level of knowledge I have been able to apprehend just within this few months of my stay here on this forum.

And just like you said, that if anyone could devote the same 4years they do for a Bachelor degree in the university here on this forum, such person will be a professor in cryptocurrency. And that's my aim and goal here Sir.

Bitcointalk forum is a place where collection of ideas and discussions are held, discussed, and argued out.
It is also a place where individuals give their ideas to topics or threads that are in the forum already.
Bitcointalk forum is the center of group discussion that allows the members of the group see each other's opinion on a particular thread, and give their own personal opinion on the thread that has been given.

Bitcointallk is a forum meant for discussing Bitcoin but has evolved into discussion for altcoins and other things. Basically it has been a forum where enthusiast of the Bitcoin/altcoins innovation meet to discuss any topic making wave in the society with focused on those that mainly affect Bitcoin or altcoins directly. That's what I'll say is the forum's definition.

All others are just additional benefits of been on the forum and not what the forum is. The forum isn't some platforms to generate income for yourself although it offers such benefits and that isn't to be abuse. The moment you start thinking of the forum as a money making ground you begin to lose focus  trust me I have been there.

The forum was created to teach and be taught on issue surrounding bitcoin and just hangout with like minds.

That is why I am not always pleased when some older members tackle newbies by asking them if they cannot just use an ordinary Google search.
A Google (or other search engine) search helps in many cases, but if that is not something the user prefers he still has a few other options:

  • Use the forum's search feature.
  • Use the search bar in the top right corner which you can see in every thread and sub-board.
  • Instead of a standard Google search, search with the code site:bitcointalk.org insert search term.
  • Use Ninjastic.space to search for content according to the specified search parameters.

Well said Sir,
That is why I am not always pleased when some older members tackle newbies by asking them if they cannot just use an ordinary Google search.  Google answers are always static, if you do not understand, you have to re-search with other keywords. But in this forum, you will get your answers in different versions (technical and less technical). Learning while interacting is a good way to learn. No matter how often the questions appear, we should be willing to answer, or at most ignore instead of discouraging the poster.
The main reason is Google articles cannot be authenticated like if there is article which have some misleading information then there is no comments under it that will correct the mistake but here on the forum you can have detailed as well as authentic information provided by members. If there is any wrong information in the post the members who are aware about it will quote it to correct you and others can simply learn from it.You can always use in built forum search options with your keywords and have all the relevant posts about it filtered with different factors like tim and date also. Moreover you can google about it also but always remember what you read online may or may not be true so it's your responsibility to gain knowledge and verify it from other sources.

Forum is great teacher but only for the students who are willing to gain knowledge about it as still many are following the same old rat race in that trap so come out of it and explore different article and read all the guides on forum to have efficient knowledge about them.

Google answers are always static,

It's the actual opposite, Google really helps in over 90% of my queries.

While the answers could be the same, the results are more often displayed with their dates so we get to know if they are still relevant.

Bitcointalk forum is such a great platform for every beginner who is willing to learn cryptocurrency, there is a lot of knowledge here that is related to crypto, that's why this is good for gaining and sharing knowledge. It really helps me some basics about security, using of wallet and avoiding getting scammed, which can also be searched on the internet but here is different because you are having your own conversation with other members that may help you.

Indeed bitcointalk.org is more than a forum, it is indeed a place where one can gain more than enough. In terms of education, bitcointalk.org is more than an institution that people from different locations in the entire world can come and gain knowledge for free without paying a fee, the common fee is time, dedication and contribution. Once someone will be dedicated to gain and give his or her own contribution, this forum is savior and it has save many people from poverty and improve their trading skills and yield more profit.
You can say whatever your opinion is about bitcointalk forum but everyone have their own definition of bitcointalk. Some may say it is more than just a forum and some think bitcointalk is a community, as I have posted before bitcointalk can be called or considered as anything that the person think. Let's just be thankful thta because of bitcointalk we are who we are today.

Updated accordingly, many thanks!

There are already many guides for newbies from senior members and forum moderators, so I don't think it is necessary to further confuse them with topics like this...
Once again, expressing your personal opinion is fine, but this one has nothing to do with newbies so I suggest you edit the title of the topic.

The topic is not contradicting any existing topics. It is also not giving directions or instructions to newbies. It is my personal definition of Bitcointalk.org answering the common newbies questions "What is this forum about", "How do I earn here". However, I have edited the subject and removed newbies as other members can also learn from the thread.

This is privacy centred forum. Your privacy and privacy of your wallets or whatsoever is in your hands. You can choose how you handle them.
PMs are not guaranteed private; you see this when viewing the PM page:

"Note: PM privacy is not guaranteed. Encrypt sensitive messages."
Good to know. Thanks.

6. Privacy:
This is privacy centred forum. Your privacy and privacy of your wallets or whatsoever is in your hands. You can choose how you handle them.
It's possible to use bitcointalk.org without submitting any personal info. Use Tor + a throwaway email + a new pseudonym, etc. If you care about preventing personal information from being collected on bitcointalk.org, then preventing this collection is your responsibility.

Terms and condition apply,
1. This forum use CloudFlare. Read Mixers using cloudflare's SSL certificates to know why it's bad for privacy.
2. If you register using Tor, you need to pay "evil unit fee" or contact someone to whitelist you (where they might ask few personal question to prevent abuser).
3. If you use throwaway email and later forget your password, the recovery process is takes more time (usually create new account, then provide proof that you're owner of the account).
This is great. Especially number 3. I have thought about account recovery processes of the forum. I'll read up the link from number 1, there's a lot to learn from it.
Thanks for sharing!

OP, there's nothing wrong with having your own opinion on this forum. Someone will agree with you, someone will disagree, but why do you address newbies in the title of your topic? One might mistakenly think that this is an instruction or guide. I know how it feels to join a forum you know little/nothing about. I often see newbies ask questions like "What is bitcointalk all about ", "how do I earn here"

They asked such questions been (newbie's) because they want to know what is strange to them, and i understand that asking a question is another measure that really helps to redirect someone to depart from novice, because its obvious that when someone is not informed is total deformed, i think one of the major factors while people violates the protocols of forum is that they are not acclimatized with the forum principles initially and before they would know it has accumulate and also escalate and the fault will be detected when they secure a higher position, and it happens because of their ignorant of asking a vital question at initial or early stage when joined Forum.

Small correction: It should be BTCitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
Thank you! You are very correct.

You might want to talk about escrow providers as well [this might look like self-promotion, but it's not].

Again, do not allow the forum to impact you negatively. If you aren't an asshole in the real life, don't play it here. You can be nice to everyone even when you don't get it back.
There are always people like that. It's up to you if you allow it to hurt your feelings. I am once like that where it made me angry but later on it made me realise that people like that could also make you strong and those negativity won't bring you down. Some of those people's replies even help when there is something you do that needs correction. Copying and pasted someone's work is allowed as long as you provide the link of where you get it or won't post it as your own work or else face the consequence of getting banned permanently (some cases are given second chance).

Hello! Welcome to Bitcointalk.org.

In the forum, you have alot of freedom, but you do not have the freedom to Copy/Paste someone's work in or outside the forum. You will be banned if found in such an act. If you have need for someone's work, kindly site the original author.
Again, do not allow the forum to impact you negatively. If you aren't an asshole in the real life, don't play it here. You can be nice to everyone even when you don't get it back.

I have realized that coming into a platform such as Bitcointalk.org is an opportunity for someone to be able to articulate works
and word for one's self and know how to make more meanings
, elaborate explanations from what has been read from a source,
this made the forum more interesting. This copy and paste rule is of immense benefit and delivers the enabling environment to
Help members make sense without giving words Bumber-Bumber and for one to be aware that plagiarism is not accepted in any
an endeavour that wants to have tremendous success.

1. Free Education:
Bitcointalk.org is a free education forum: If your mission here is to learn, you will learn what is not taught in the universities for no fee. The users here are so generous with knowledge. Unlike the universities, you can be in the first year(newbie) and join the class of final year(legendary). This fosters learning. There is no limit to what you can learn and which board you can visit. Just as you commit 4yrs to learning in the universities for Bsc, if you commit same here, in 4yrs time, you will become a PhD in Cryptocurrencies.

Isn't B.sc a 2-3 years course anymore?  Smiley
It does not mean that someone must spend 4 years on the forum; people learn at their own pace, and people come here for a variety of reasons; some came to learn how to buy bitcoin, and those people are long gone; others came to learn about blockchain and private keys; and then there's BaDecker, who only cares about politics.
Quote
Again, do not allow the forum to impact you negatively. If you aren't an asshole in the real life, don't play it here. You can be nice to everyone even when you don't get it back.

Nobody cares about personal feelings here; the Internet is a bizarre environment in which you must have a thick skin or become a parishioner. The F word is very welcoming.

Hello! Welcome to Bitcointalk.org.

I know how it feels to join a forum you know little/nothing about. I often see newbies ask questions like "What is bitcointalk all about ", "how do I earn here" etc. Already existing members are always willing to answer such questions, no matter how often and irrelevant they appear, kudos!

I believe after reading this thread, an honest newbie can successfully decide where to gain from the forum and also how to help the forum.

Below are my personal definitions of bitcointalk forum;

2: Empowerment Forum:

Bitcointalk.org is a forum that offers lots of opportunities ranging from learning to earning. Learning, seizing genuine opportunities and earning some BTC weekly through campaign or bounty can empower you in the real life if you are focused.
It will interest you to know that you can get a loan here too.

3. Market:
Bitcointalk.org is a forum where you can buy or sell goods and services. So, if you have a good skill, here is a great market for you. You can do all kinds of legal businesses here. Remember to Trade with caution.
If you are to involve in buying and selling, lending and borrowing, these threads is a must see for you.

a Prevention is better than a cure. Please escrow.
b.₿ LIST ₿ Bitcointalk's ESCROW providers: Ranking & Blacklist ☠ Avoid Scam ☠[/sup]
c. [EDU] The Rule of "No Collateral, No Loan" - IGNORE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

4. Freedom:
In the words of LoyceV
It's possible to use bitcointalk.org without submitting any personal info. Use Tor + a throwaway email + a new pseudonym, etc. If you care about preventing personal information from being collected on bitcointalk.org, then preventing this collection is your responsibility.

In conclusion, it's like an adventure here, many succeed, many give up. Keep developing yourself, the forum users are awesome, if you choose to be resourceful, many people are ready to help you. If you choose otherwise, same people will also facilitate your failure.

Thank you and Welcome!.
