You were lucky enough to get a profit of $16 the first day itself while I lost $40 the first day as the price fell by 56%. It was a rare alt coin that I traded in and as it was going high in the first 1-2 months, the market size decreased and the price fell rapidly. Except ETH, I doubt other altcoins as they have a lifetime of just 1-2 months after which they get dumped by the devs mainly. Unlike BTC which is not controlled by one person and mainly depends on the market movement. Nobody can keep dumping bitcoins the way altcoins are dumped.

A couple days ago I transfered enough from my bank account to buy 1 Bit coin.  While waiting for the $ to make it from the bank to the exchange I had $75.00 invested so could use it to practice with.  Keep in mind that I had no experience with bit coin trading and my past day trading did not go well.

Today I saw that SC (Siacoin) was above 10% and volume was above 10,000.  It was also very active pumping up and down.  I did four buy and sell trades, not aiming for much more than 5% profit on each one and increased my $75.00 to $91.00.  It was a great leaning experience.  Also very humbling because on the first trade I made a mistake and lucked out.

Scott

That's a good way to start. Be careful not to panic buy or panic sell and you should do fine.
yes it is too much important to study the different aspect of the market and then decide about to buy or sell, some time the big whale is manipulating the market which really disturb the market. some time they create panic like situation in the market and people start selling while they waiting for the  lower price to  buy it and then hold it for its really price they really making too much profit through this way and making the unexperienced people as fool.

To making traders fool It's a business strategy, not only newbies will sometimes fool the experienced traders also get fool. Some local trading sites will use these type strategies and make them fool. Last time when the price pump in my country all local BTC exchange websites started go gave more than 10% extra money on BTC price. People thought it would go high and high let's wait. And suddenly it the price drops they also started to drop the price with high margin in that time many panic people sold coins. Like this they make us fool so be careful while doing trading.

This is probably one of the reasons why newbies should read recommendations on here that people start trading on a small amount before putting real money.

My first trades were with LTC and I had 500 LTC and sold them for 4,2$ because "normally" they would dip like before, but then they rose to 25$ **** my life. Then I had Ethereum for 15$ and sold them for 23$ and they rose to 50$ again **** my life. But you learn of these mistakes. Now I have some Taas and will hold them, it feels much better when they will share a dividend, so I can think my money works for itself. But yeah, I made some huge ****ups at the beginning. I started at January and now, I think I am a little more professionel. Just give it time.

my first trading was unlucky, I trade xrp on 14.400 but tomorrow xrp dumped to the 11.500. I bet on 0.2 BTC
that was my first horrible trading
Whoe! that was a sad experience of your first trading. For me xrp is just the same only as dash more on hyped
And I don't see any good insight of it. and most often xrp was pump and dump only.

Good for you dude. My first trade, i lost 40% of my btc capital because i panicked when i saw that the altcoin i purchased went on a steep dump. it only took around 10mins before i sold my altcoin way below the price that i purchased it. Eventually the price bounced back later that day and i could've earned 20% if i just waited and didn't lose composure

It's very good you got started, welcome aboard! This train will be bumpy and there will be many dips and many rises. Volatility is the NORM.

Don't let it scare you though, the trend has been upwards and most people are bullish on the market. I would suggest also looking into the altcoin market in order to diversify. Bitcoin has gone up by x2 since I started myself....but other altcoins have gone up x10 or even x100 =/ Look at the rise of Ethereum. Look at the rise of Ripple...look at all the coins, and see which one appeals most to you.

Read about the tech. Read about the team behind the tech. Try not to get involved in get rich quick coins that tell you tomorrow it will be a dollar. I bought POSW at 28 cents after people said its an easy $1 coin...and then it fell to pennies. I'm still holding though, hopefully it will recover.

The best thing you can do, is read. Investing in yourself, in your knowledge of the market, will be the biggest investment you can make, and learn all the side stuff.

You are in a good way.. and i think you will learn something while you are losing and lucky if you are making profit..
Well for me much better to check this https://coinmarketcap.com and choose some altcoin in top 20 rankings because those altcoin can be stay for too long unlike for new coin that we don't know if they can stay for a longer time..
If you choose any altcoin in top 20 possible you can gain a good profit while the price of bitcoin is increasing so it can double your profit and you can hold them for a long time once the price still not increase or if its going down you can be still holding them and wait for the price that actually making you profit..

Maybe you bought your xrp while it was pumping. You should wait for the dip and then buy... But in case it will dump more you can hold it for awhile and wait for the next pump. I think you need to study more about trading and try to trade little amount of money first since you are still new in trading to avoid losing more money.

great scott, i think you made big profit for this. i hope you can study more about trading so your profit will be increase more than that. so you have the best trade so far and if you made a mistake in your first trade, i think its natural because not all traders is very lucky in their first time trading so if you are really serious, you can research more coins to trying to trade more so you can make another profit with another coins.

Well, I would say that you got a scholarship while learning to trade. This is the best way I know to learn how to trade. It helps us to analyse and understand the market conditions and price movements and at the same time, it helps us to control our investment portfolio. Make sure you are trading more frequently with lesser amounts so that you will come to know about the price movements and how to react in such conditions. Don't expect that every time you will come up with profits but yes I appreciate your performance in the first trade.

Very good start Scott! Always set reachable goals to avoid getting stuck in a trade and lose time. When you've received your full bitcoin try to build up a diverse portfolio. And never go all in on something.

That's what I'm talking about.

Some people advise that you should learn first or study the coin. But for me, what you do is what I also did when I first started, I get my hands dirty one day on trading never really learn, although just some basics to begin with. And as I journey through it, I learn a lot of valuable lesson not taught if you are going just to study it. And just like you, I felt satisfied seeing my first profit even though small, is considered a profit. So just continue on your journey and take note of every methods you used a long the way because for sure you will go back to the drawing back and see what went wrong, what strategy is working / not working. Just don't be frustrated and disappointed if you lost. Just think of it as part of you learning experience. And only invest what you can afford to lose to mitigate risk. Goodluck.

Goodjob, i also make my first trade few weeks ago with ethereum, get some profit and considered good for the first time trading. I also manage to ride the rise of waves recently.

Etherum smart contracts are nowadays famous and this altcoin is becoming grow like bitcoin. You can start trading in localbitcoins whether you are a newbie or experienced in the site.
As you said wavescoin similarly move up like yobit trading site. I know that is coin and this is trading site, I just comparatively says as popularity.

Thanks for all the advise and thoughts to heed.  The reason I used 10,000+ volume and 10% market activity as a starting point to choose good coins to look at was because I watched a youtube made by High Altitude Investing.  He gave some great training.  Part of what I like most about developing new ways of making money is that I really like to learn.  This forum has helped.  Yesterday somebody in the forum advised holding back 50% of your trading capital in the event a coin seriously bottoms out while you are trading it...it gives you the ability to "double down" by purchasing more when it stops going down in order to take try to recoup when it goes back up.  That would be a risky venture but could be useful.

Could anybody give me the website of a good trainer that I could learn further?
