I haven't been back here for a while and I've got a lot of work to do as a form of accountability for what I've done by making this thread Cheesy

Although this wallet is not only focused on bitcoin because there are some features that I will not use and of course there are some disadvantages but I will use this wallet for storing my bitcoin assets at this time. But I will probably only use this for a while because I still want something else for my Hardware Wallet.
Sorry for saying this and I don't want to ruin your fun, but Safepal hardware wallet is probably one of the worst hardware wallets you could buy at the moment.
Safepal is closed source black box from China, they stole and altered and violated original source code, and they are doing the same thing like ledger walelt with restore feature, but it's even worse because they are storing it in cloud  Tongue
I wouldn't consider this to be safe device for anything and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, especially when there are much better Open Source alternatives.
Thank you for the warning sir, I too now continue to be cautious but have been using for some time now even though it's only a portion of my assets moreover I feel a little sorry if it's been bought but not used.
On the other hand I am also still trying out some things with the wallet I have which is only 3 weeks old.

I'm also currently trying to find another hard wallet because there are so many warnings and conditions that are said to be not very secure and I'm also looking at some recommendations at the moment. do you have any suggestions for additions?

I think that's the department where they are responsible for parcels coming in and out of the country right? It maybe taxes that prevented your package to be shipped to you or something. It really is hard to trust that anyone who is calling you and asking for money is out there and be seen as a scam etc.

I haven't tried SafePal and I have read good reviews about it too. How are you doing with it OP?
That's the thing, I've never dealt with anything like this before because I rarely buy goods from overseas so I didn't really understand the taxation system that exists regarding overseas purchases so when a call asking for money for the parcel to be sent was made I was suspicious even though it was the truth but still I wasn't explained in detail and made my parcel return to the distributor.

In the last 3 weeks I tried to keep a small portion of my funds in safepal and tried a few times to also send and for the time being I don't really have a problem but when so many people say that this is not very good of course I also have a sense of concern and will probably look for a new wallet that is more secure.
Even though I haven't had any problems for the past 3 weeks, I'm still worried about it.

A big congratulations mate on the purchase of your very first hardware bitcoin wallet, this is very impressive and encouraging to most of us who still very much depend on wallets like electrum and Mycelium for storing our bitcoins, i personally can not wait to make the same move, i will probably have to find out if trezor and safepal both ship to my country, then i weigh the cost and see which to go for..
But now for those of you who are well experienced with this two wallet, and maybe ledger included, which of this is the best aside one being more expensive than the other? asking this because i know that for some products, being expensive does not necessarily mean they are the best.
You have to find out first mate, it's actually possible to send it but you have to pay attention to the regulations in your country in the tax system and others, don't let what happened to me happen to you Cheesy
Even though it is certain that the money is also returned but still there is a feeling that cannot be expressed when the item we want and have bought but does not arrive properly it is our money that returns.

[snip]
I've never used SafePal. Based on your experience using it, is it comfortable and there are no worries?

Worries, of course there are especially many who remind that Safepal is closed source from China, they steal and change and violate the original source code just like @dkbit98 said, obviously this gives me concern.
I also still can't give much experience because I've only been using this for 3 weeks and only a few times I tried to transfer and receive bitcoins although so far it's been fine for me.

I think you have done the right thing in this regard (Using a safe place to store your long term Investment). Because some people even ignore this. And they stick with their hot wallets. But yeah, it's about caution as well as convenience. so as long as you can store your Seed Phrase safely then everything will stay safe.
Among the people on the ignore list that you mean there are those who are too concerned with security to keep their assets. They really care about wallet security even though they can only afford software wallets like the electrum wallet. Those who use the electrum software wallet have also done the right thing.

I agree hardware wallets are more secure to use, but using software wallets like electrum are also very safe as their use is taken care of properly. In terms of age, it can be said that it is short, maybe yes, because in the past two years I have been using electrum, nothing has happened.

Nice op. I'm interested in buying a hardware wallet but haven't bought it yet because I don't have a large amount of money to store. The amount of bitcoins I have can be safely stored in a software wallet.  However, software wallets are very risky. I think you won't have any trouble using it.  I am thinking of ordering one very soon. thanks for sharing this here op. congratulations for your first purchase a hardware wallet

It's great to see you investing in Bitcoin and considering different wallet options to secure your assets. Recognizing your own tendencies and the potential for mistakes is a valuable self-awareness.
At last, despite the challenges and drama, you have ultimately been able to purchase a wallet for your Bitcoin storage. It's a pragmatic decision to prioritize the security of your assets.
I wish you good luck with your new wallet, and I hope it providea you with the security and peace of mind you seek.

Wow! This is interesting. Trezor would have been the best for the hardware wallet but every disappointment is a blessing, you have been blessed with multifunction hardware wallet to use any coins for of your choice. You are saying, you want to use it for the main time but I advise you to keep it for further uses of other coins that have been listed in the wallet. Who knows whether you will use or invest in other coins which you want to add it to bitcoin investment because diversity is good.
And also, this your thread will be very suitable for wallet software and in the wallet software you go to hardware wallet https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=261.0 and place it there. Congrats for purchasing hardware wallet for the first time. This has been my dream for some time.

When people feel comfortable about hardware wallets I always laugh, do you know think that you are hack proof? Don't fool yourselves, you still need to be extremely careful how you use that hardware wallet and you still need to worry about the maker themselves, hopefully they don't mess thing up through software updates and other.

If anything beats offline wallet like paper wallet I will like to know what it is, even if it's airgapped or whatever, your worries isn't the end because where you are going to keep your seed is very important, talk less about owning crypto in the public too to avoid dangerous attention.

Believe me, after a hardware wallet it's not over still, it's the beginning,  the beginning of your cautiousness.
You seem to care about keeping your seeds safe. That is, you care about protecting the cryptographic information that your hardware wallet stores. This is an important issue and yes, you should.

However, with a proper hardware wallet and the right security measures, it proves to be one of the safest methods to store and manage your cryptocurrency. Although no system is completely secure and impenetrable. Therefore, it may be wise to do it correctly and limit the publicity of information about owning cryptocurrencies to avoid the attention of those with malicious intent.

Among all the wallets nowadays, I recommend trying the one from the XGo platform. The XGo mobile app is a solid choice for crypto enthusiasts looking for a simple and reliable platform. It offers a range of cryptocurrencies, seamless transactions, and real-time market data. Worth checking out.
It requires email to sign up. A noncustodial wallet will not require email and nothing like signup or sign in. Is XGo a custodial wallet? I was unable to sign up to know if it is a custodial wallet, but I do not like the wallet at all.

Among bitcoin wallet, I can not point more than Electrum, Sparrow, Bluewallet, Passport and Trezor. There are other better ones too, but XGO is not among but to give convenience.

Good lord. I thought XGo shills have stopped, looks like I'm wrong. Thanks for quoting, I somehow missed their post.

For everyone's information, XGo is a custodial exchange and @polar.bear824 is likely one of their shills. We spotted couple of their shill accounts last time, see: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/xgo-5448660

A lot of XGo shill posts are off-topic like this one - this thread is about wallets and they bring up an exchange, I would suggest reporting as well next time you see another one. Anyhow, I've reported their post this time.

Your hardware wallet purchase seems like a rollercoaster, so I know your suffering. I smile thinking about your gift stalled in customs. However, these situations happen to everyone, especially in overseas transactions.

For years, I've used bitcoin and swore by hardware wallets. As you stated, electrum can be dangerous if you're not careful with seed preservation.

Its smart to obtain a hardware wallet. Crypto security's gold standard. That extra protection will benefit your bitcoin investments. Remember, its more than bitcoin. A wallet that supports various coins is beneficial. Diversify your portfolio whenever you desire.

Sorry guys, even hardware wallets need some updates from now and then, haven't you heard about glitches in updates? That scares me the most because I have seen new crypto wallet companies go wrong because of this, it was the same mistake that happened with Binanace Trust wallet plugin on PC, lucky they pay all those affected back, if it was a new one that's the end.

Somehow I still prefer the old version way of storing Bitcoin, creating offline wallet or using the old Bitcoin wallet like Electrum gives me better feelings than all these new hardware wallet companies.

Electrum wallet over everything else, my asset my choice.
It's okay for people with hardware wallets as they would already know that they will need an update. This is also the same with people who use other applications because updating is something that developers must do to anticipate fraud or hacks from hackers or scammers.

Whatever the wallet, we can choose what suits us and our choices will be different. We are also free to choose what wallet we will use because the convenience factor in using it is what we want and are looking for.

And we can also see lists of wallets for Bitcoin on the bitcoin.org site. There are already instructions for what wallet you might be looking for. All you have to do is follow it.

Since you are unable to find an official reseller for Trezor/Ledger in your country yet, it is always better to purchase them straight from the official website instead of trusting Amazon where the fake sellers deliver us with malicious products which can be risky for storing larger amount of funds. With regards to storing the seedphrase, one viable solution for storing them safely is to engrave them in simple metal washers and to load them onto a screw and locking them with a nut at the bottom.
Ledger is no more a good wallet. The company do not care about their customers privacy at all and they support users to backup their seed phrase with third parties.

Actually there are several reasons because for some hard wallets such as Ledger or Trezor I still haven't found an official reseller in my country it makes me a little hesitant if I buy in some e-commerce that I see here Ledger Reseller and Trezor Reseller while Safepal already exists.
for the second reason maybe because I have failed when buying trezor before so I want to try to anticipate the same thing happening actually.
and the last one is from the actual price Cheesy My condition is not good in finance these few months but I still want a Hardwere wallet. Although I realise when the price is cheap there will definitely be some weaknesses but for now I still feel it is still good enough.

1. I would suggest looking into reputable package forwarders in your place. For instance, if you wanna buy smth in the USA but they don't ship to your place, you can use the address of the package forwarder in the USA. After your parcel arrives at their warehouse, the package forwarder can now ship them to you.

2. Try to look into https://wallets.thebitcoinhole.com/ for discounts. In addition, a couple of months from now, black friday sale comes and we can expect another wave of discounts.

Honestly maybe it's about taxes to enter a country but I'm not too sure about this kind of thing and indeed to make some purchases for another hardwere wallet in the future (not too sure about the time but will definitely look for a new hardwere wallet) especially if it comes from an official site maybe I will learn about taxes or customs in my country so as not to be too surprised and know systematically about shipping from abroad.

Better to learn it I'd say. I'm not sure about your place but in my hometown, there are people who overcharge so they can keep a portion of the fee  Sad

otherwise maybe check if your item price was wrongly declared.

OP it would have been better you verified to know exactly if the call that came in informing you of the arrival of your parcel was a genuine one either by you going to their office with your wife to verify or other means as well because the initial is far much better the later.

I saw the wallet you purchased is a safepal wallet which does not really guarantee any thing Safety and they are not as sophisticated as you assume they are mate. Your Crypto assets is not really secured mate.

But a few weeks later there was a call from my country's Customs saying that my package had been delayed and that I had to pay approximately $35 for my package to be sent immediately.
I also bought Trezor on the official website at the beginning thinking that I would not be asked for shipping by the sender but after the goods arrived I was confirmed that I had to pay approximately $35 for this item to be sent immediately, I was forced to pay and the goods arrived at my home, but I was also surprised to have to pay a large customs fee, maybe that has become a regulation.

But strangely when I bought goods from GazetaBitcoin at a more expensive price that I bought on the Trezor site only asked for $2 to redeem it, I was a little strange how come the goods were cheaper the customs bill than the big price?

Is buying from individuals and companies different? Ah well.

But congrats on the first wallet my friend. Cheesy
Hey man, we're having the same problem, it's just that I'm not paying for it and you're paying for it, which makes the results different. But with things like this then it does mean that the person calling me is genuine from customs not a scam and it has been validated.

Though Safepal has never open-sourced their software, they are planning to do so in the near future but the backing from Binance is one of the biggest selling point for them. On the other hand, the first wallet which you have purchased (Trezor) is completely open source including it's hardware and software which allows us to verify the code rather than trusting the makers blindly in storing our assets.

@fillippone has written a great detailed thread on Securing Your Seed Phrase with Washers and it has helped really a lot of people in storing the seeds safely in a secure location. You can purchase a Blockmit Jig from cryptocloaks for $8 instead of 3D printing them on your own as well. The maximum cost for creating such a secure way of seed storing would cost no more than $25 for you and probably you can reuse the Jigs and Metal stamps for recreating your seeds indefinitely.
True, this is one of my considerations to buy on the official website directly rather than having to buy on E-commerce which in the end this is not too sure in security because the price is also not too much different even better directly on the official website if there are no resellers. I thought about this only that I did not know about the taxation system on goods coming in from abroad which surprised me before but indeed when I find out about this I will probably try to buy again.

Btw thanks for the link you provided I will see that as new teaching material again for me.

After the unsuccessful and canceled purchase of trezor, you had to choose hardware wallet among the many other ([BIG LIST] Hardware wallets (80+)) that currently exist. So what was the reason for the choice in favor of SafePal? What advantages did you see in this device?

I know almost nothing about this device, so you could share your opinion, after your personal experience of using it: what you like and what you don't like.

This topic is best placed in section Hardware wallets.
It turns out there's still a lot I haven't explored on this forum because there are so many new links I've received as good references now.

The reason I've answered that in my previous post although it might not satisfy you too much because that reason is purely from my conditions.
For reviews I may still not be able to provide reviews for now because there must be some experiments first but it does not rule out the possibility that I will review this after I use this wallet for some time.
