MythMyEtherWallet warns users of the hacked Hola application
Hola is a free VPN service with over 8 million installs and a 4.9 star rating.

Specifically, the MEW side posted the following on their Twitter:

"URGENT! If you have installed the Hola extension on a Chrome browser and have used your MEW wallet for the last 24 hours, please immediately transfer your funds to a brand new account!

We have received reports that Hola has been hacked for about 5 hours and this attack is to record your activity on MEW. "

I think myetherwallet is not safe, because recently MEW was frequently visited by hackers and the incident four months ago had total 216 ETH stolen after some DNS servers were taken over and controlled. That leads the user to a fake website

I don't understand, it is Hola extension that has been exploited to steal your MEW account? So its more of a problem on Hola extension as far as I know. MEW is safe if you know how to protect your account. That's why you have to be very careful and it seems that they are very active in giving us warning. If you are not comfortable using it, then you might want to give other wallets a try. But thanks for the warning though. I don't used Hola extension, btw.
Yes, I also agree with you that if you know how to protect your myetheraccount, then your funds are safe in the wallet but if you don't, you can keep them in some other wallets but the fact that they gave a very good warning is also very good to prevent loss of funds.
What warning your are talking about?
There is nothing wrong with MEW in this case the third part freeware named hola has copied all the credentibles from chrome browser,so if you were used MEW on chrome with hola installed in less than 24 hours then your funds maybe already transferred so don't trust someone's freeware all the time but the problem is only with chrome browser, other users were safe.

I already switched to the https://mycrypto.com 2 months ago. This one created by same MEW team with better support than MEW after this team split.
So I suggest you should use it too

This is sort of like saying Bitcoin is not safe because people keep getting their Bitcoins stolen. Bitcoin, and actually MEW, have themselves never been hacked. And that's blockchain for you, at least when it is properly secured by enough nodes.

Every hack you read about is because of people's carelessness or centralized systems getting breached.

MEW is safe, as long as YOU keep safe.

If you are always cautious when opening a site then you can secure your funds. Just like what happen to the MEW users months ago when there is a warning that it is not secure because users are being redirected to a site but then they ignore the warning and just proceeded that's why their funds/tokens are stolen. In crypto, we should always secure the coins we have and do not blame the site but blame yourself for the carelessness. If you don't like the platform you are using then find others that make you feel secure.
Even we are very cautious while using MEW still it is not completely safe because recently I read that Hola VPN expetension on chrome browser hacked the MEW wallets so these kind of this are unavoidable at many times but that is we are kept saying by experts that never trust the third part applications.

You know people that can easily blame things when they do lose out money
Just like this one
Myetherwallet is not safe. I lost 2 ETH by using it.

Or simply the dude above me is an example, blaming MEW because he do low up 2 ETH without even asking himself why he do lost it? Most common issue that his wallet being compromised because either he got phished or any other way on attaining his private keys.

Its not totally MEW is unsafe because there are several kind of attacks like indirection to users or malware or phishing or any other just like extension. Those are the things we should keep an eye on because if you arent aware on the security on what you are using like browsers or having an infected PC. You would most likely lose up tokens or coins inside your MEW. I cant say MEW is unsafe wallet it would just be compromise once your private keys would be exposed into other people or simply on hackers.

Myetherwallet is very safe to me. It is obvious that because of how strong their security is and the safety they want for their provider or customers that is why they have alerted us on this. You know everything on the internet has a threat and is a matter of you the user to be careful and know how to protect your account. Unnecessary adds should be avoided and we should not expose our private keys to anyone.
one of these wallets I think is safe enough even very difficult to be hacked because MEW because when we create an account at myehterwallet.com we generate a collection of cryptographic numbers: private key and your public key us. and most importantly that must be kept secret and security is our Private Key, do not be given to others, lest anyone know besides our own and do not get lost.

For only once I’ve used this wallet for a very rare reason and that is because I can’t view a certain token in my IMToken wallet. So with this accusation and hacking incidents, I’d rather take the safest actions and that is to contact my service support representative to address any issue within the provider itself. Won’t used anymore unreliable wallet or VPN extension services.

Despite of the hacking incident from the past months of myetherwallet, I have been very aware that such wallets are not that really safe. But then, I still use myetherwallet since I have been using private keys only for opening it for security purposes.

MyEtherWallet is very secure. Not secure are those sites on which you leave your Ethereum purse and the extensions that you use. Next time before you give someone your wallet, think carefully.
I Think differently from other traders. I use to scatter all my coins not in just One wallet. I have cold storage wallet and hardware wallet which i use to fund my coins. Well the next time you got alot of coins you should keep and store it!

It's very sad that myetherwallet users are so unprotected from hackers. I have already heard many cases when these purses break. We all need to go to the hardware wallets, because it's safe and convenient.

How did you know that it's not really safe? Maybe you gave your private key to someone or somebody compromised your private key. But i suggest to buy hardware wallets for you to store of Ethereum and ERC-20 token.

It depends on yourself.

It can be safe. Always check the https/SSL/whatever.  Don't put your private key there, use safer ways too, like metamask. I really like the wallet though and find it strange Bitcoin doesn't have a similar thing.

Myetherwallet is really safe! that's why I chose that from the other wallet! and is proven by many, MEW is not the problem, as long as you keep your all info in private and must know that there's no safe in this kind of business, so be careful always.
