This has happend many times with MyEtherwallet. In my opinion they should implement some security measures on its website like some other exchanges google authenticator. I never heard other exchanges has been hacked everytime I heard about MEW. Admin should seriously think about making it more secure so that nobody will fear to login. I am always afraid to login my MEW Ac because I have seen many people lost their coins without sharing their keys. I usually avoid to login my Ac I always use etherscan or ethplorer to check my coins. Only thing we can do is always login carefully check the website address twice before using your keys. I would say use UTC file to login your Ac that is more secure. Try to secure your coins in Trezor wallet that is the best way to secure your coins.

They always warned that Keystore and seed phrase was not a secure way to access the wallets so I don't think this is a big surprise. If you accessed with a TREZOR or Ledger you should be okay.
The hardware wallet is recommended than the online wallet

It was very painful and disheartening that alot of money where lost as a result of this DNS attack. Alot of check mate need to be done to prevent this from happening again someone close to me lost some Eth as well due to this. For all those that lost money due to this I pray that they should recover soon.

No one will be a millionaire here, only scammers/hackers will. That's why we need to check our accounts from time to time. And make sure that we put our 2FAs. These people wants easy money so this kind of activity is just a piece of cake for them.
Crypto industry is the best place for hackers/scammers. Crypto haven't control and all hackers/scammers come here. It's very big problem for industry. Crypto-community needs more protection from this.

There are always hacks and people are always losing money to these hacks which means that a lot of people get scared about investing due to the fear that they might lose their coins. Although Myetherwallet seem to be dealing with the hack accordingly, I am not yet able to log into my wallet to see if my coins were stolen

When i learned about this development yesterday, i am disappointed because i'm also a victim of wallet hacking and i knew how it feels that your hard earned money will get lost to criminals. I hope they will caught the hackers and brought to justice.

Wow, it's already 17mln$, I read about it but it was absolutely another amount, if I don't mistake only about 150.000$.
I heard the same thing that around 212 ETH was stolen or something, but this is insane. 17 freaking million dollars is a humongous amount and I seriously feel bad for the people who lost their funds. I usually tend to check my funds through ethplorer and rarely ever access my wallet which helped me out in this case. I advise everyone not to access their wallet if they simply wish to check their funds and instead depend on websites like ethplorer etc which will minimize the risk to a big degree. Also, I still consider MEW relatively safe even after this attack since this is the most reliable ETH wallet at the moment. Jump to:
