For being a successfull coin, a couple of thinghs need to be done, preferably in the right, I think.
1. Technical point of view ( looks like digishield makes NLG more solid ).
2. All applications on all mobile phones must be fully functioning ( at least, not ready for iPhone, I found out last week). Merchant require to have things ready so people can use there mobile apps for paying with NLG.
3. Marketing, getting the world (The Netherlands) to know NLG. On the marketing/merchant part NLG is doing excellent. We have some Merchants, https://www.litebit.eu/coin/nlg/nl/, http://guldencoin.startpagina.nl/, http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guldencoin...etc.
4.The airdrop, every dutch citizen getting 100 NLG, is something we cannot exploit at the moment. 100 NLG-= € 0,1. Noone will get excited.

For me it's totally unclear if and how much fiat crap is needed to get all plans running. I can imagine that it might be interesting for the NLG team to have some money availlable to invest in marketing.

Hi,

Being a NLG fan and investor, I of course followed the clevermiming/digishield discussion.
I am absolutely non technical, but do understand that it is prolly better for a coin when the mining is not done by one big company.
But from an economical point of view, I don't expect the NLG/BTC price to change much after digishield implemention.
As far as I can see there are only 2 factors that make the price; supply and demand.
Supply of NLG will stay the same and I don't see a reason that digishield will lead to much more demand.
In my opinion it's irrelevant that now clevermining is mining the coins and selling and in 3 weeks more smaller miners will mine the coins and prolly sell if they mine more than they like. But the future will tell.
More important for all altcoins is to see a bottom in BTC price. I hope and think we are getting close after a bad 2014.
It's all about the number of merchants accepting the coins. And not less important is what the merchants do with the NLG or BTC they get when they recieve. At the moment over 90% of merchants change right away to "fiat crap". But this is going to change when we see a bottom in BTC. From the moment BTC Bottoms, the number of Merchants accepting BTC and NLG will go grow quickly and a bigger percentage of them will not change right away for fiat as well.
Actually, I see a bright future for NLG. For more than 2 months wee see a bottom around 450 sat. Digishield will make NLG safer and hopefully BTC bottoms soon. Things can go really quick, I think.
Lets calculate a bit. The coming year we will still face big inflation, but then for the years after, supply will diminsh percantage wise. At the end of the year there will be 455,000,000 NLG ( now 196,000,000 ). The number of NLG out there will grow by 130% in 2015.
I think, at the moment we are in the basement regarding faith in digital currency. Normal people laugh about us, the hardcore cryptofans. But, things will change radically, when BTC Bottoms.
Taking the number of Merchants as a guide regarding interest in NLG ( not sure how exactly you can say that the number of merchants accepting NLG reflects total demand of NLG), I would guess that we need 150 accepting NLG-merchants by the end of the year to keep at least the price at 450 satoshi. Noticing the economical/social chaos this world is in, I don't think 150 Merchants is a lot, it's nothing, when prices go up, everyone is going to accept NLG and people are NOT selling anymore.
Digishield is ready. When every one can pay with NLG by any kind of mobile device, NLG can fully concentrate on the merchants. When things turn around, I wouldn't be surprised to see, a year from now, NLG interest being more than 10 times higher as it is now.
I am really optimistic, but every hard core fan sees the future like he wants it to be.
I am going to look if I have some other shitty coins left to change them into NLG.

Good luck to the NLG team!

Have you ideas to make guldencoin better?, better than 99% of all the (shit)coins?
maybe a investor to make the bottom better? marketing, more app.....
i now the price is up but, i think not this year
i love this coin, it is the FIRST coin, more than 100m coins stable around the 450 sat for months
its a good idea to thinking about projects on paper and how to spread the word guldencoin in the netherlands

this is just the begin of cryptocurrency, Guldencoin is a big part of this!

Maybe when point 2. is fully working we can set up some marketing campaign. I would say target on young people ( I myself, am one of the very few "old" people interested in crypto). Lets ask ourselves what does the youth like and how can we give them this thing. For instance, we have subway as a merchant. Maybe we can get subway to advertise the price of some sandwich in NLG and at the same time we start a faucet where anyone can get this amount NLG for free, so he/she can buy such a sandwich ( just brainstorming a bit).

For me it's totally unclear if and how much fiat crap is needed to get all plans running. I can imagine that it might be interesting for the NLG team to have some money availlable to invest in marketing.

Good call icebear. For future reference to other users out there: Never click links in quoted posts. Only use the links in the OP.

I'll update the pools wallet on hardcoreminers when i get back home tonight.

I think most users already updated their wallets earlier so I really hope no harm has been done in this short time span.
Lets hope so..  Smiley

Get a local popular coffee house or pizza place in Palo Alto or San Francisco city, LA or NYC to accept NLG and I will fly out for that and make a nerdy fan video with you as promo goof for both us and them lol.

What do they need? Cash register with internet access OR an ipod, iphone, tablet or other smartphone hooked to their Guldenpay.com with the Litepaid API. I think Litepaid paysout Dollars through PayPal, but I am not sure. Fuse can probably confirm that, if it's true.

That would be legendary.

Sadly, no.  It needs to be an IBAN bank account to do cash payouts.  You could get one of those anonymous Visa cards that are found in the goods subforum here.  They are tied to an IBAN number and allow decent deposit/withdrawal amounts.

The US is crazy with money exchange laws.  I was going to see if I could use Bitpay to take BTC payments and they wanted everything from a business license to a blood sample.  Joking on the blood sample, but they really did want paperwork out the wazoo.

It would be pretty slick to get you to fly out here for a promo "US groundbreaking" event.  I wish I was still in NY, I've got a friend that owns a bar that would do it in a heartbeat if I was there to help her.

Too bad, "oh let's use this decentralized payment and ask for passports, licenses and fingerprints just to be safe". Jeez. Grin

And then there's the NYDFS and Ben Lawsky. He's gone silent, but maybe because he's pushing to pass laws on the down-low. Who knows, only time will tell.

I checked out the laws in Canada some for a project I was considering back in the Coino days.  I tried to get them to make me do paperwork... but after a few days the response from the Feds was "we don't have any paperwork for this bitcoin stuff, just give us your phone number so we can call you when we get some someday".  End of story.

Basically here you just have to follow the know your customer law if you are dealing over certain amounts.  Nothing as scary as the USA.

If you go to the Gov directly thats all youre going to get, but as far as I know Canada is one of the countries that have a good level of adoption so instead of going to the Gov why not getting advice from real Bitcoin businesses that are already set up in your country
