Thanks for the info @Fuse and @Roel!. I am working on something very interesting, a new revolutionary use for the blockchain technology in remote sensing and image processing.

The biggest factor in the blockchain size is the number of transactions listed per block.  The more the coin is used, the larger the block storage size, and the larger the blockchain size.  With the way this coin is going with adoption, they better have quantum hard drives sometime soon  Wink

Bitcoin's blockchain is that big because there are images of Mandela and others on the chain for some reason, I read that somewhere. If we don't mess with the blockchain it won't be that big, it would and should be easy to store the entire synced wallet on a 4 or 8GB flashdrive.

Does anybody here know what the maximum size of a blockchain can be?, can one be for example 50TB?. Thanks!

Last time I checked the Bitcoin blockchain, it was sitting around 25-27GB.  Litecoin's blockchain is currently just under 4GB according to https://bitinfocharts.com/litecoin/.  I would assume we would follow the storage requirements for LTC, since NLG is based off that codebase.

I'll see if I can find the max for LTC, and that should give us a rough estimate.  /GJ or others would probably be able to give a more definitive answer.

Last time with the mandatory update the seeds where set still one by one. And after the change started up again. It was safe to do.

Now with the high hashrate on the network (15 GH/s-20GH/s), maybe it is the safest way to do it again that way. It is not the simplest way as I understand, but the safest as it seems.

I am not an expert, but I read somewhere (see quote below) that with high hashrate on the network, it maybe is harder to fork in a normal way. Is that true?
Maybe something to talk about by the experts, while there is enough time for that.

(Could be a non-issue, but just bringing it up, so we don't overlook that)

From another forum:
If it has a high diff..... Some people were saying it's harder to later hardfork the blockchain with a new version but I haven't checked into that myself.

yep thats true

The Tier 2 project now has 3 people dedicated to it and we will hopefully have this out in the 1st 1/4 of 2015. Looking forward to seeing the reaction to this one.

Wait a minute... the diff algo does not confirm or reject blocks, it adjusts the difficulty... nothing more or less.

Confirming or rejecting blocks based on time stamp requires fundamental changes to the codebase, not tinkering with the diff algo.

Using time stamps to calculate difficulty is one thing, but to use timestamps to confirm or reject blocks is a hacker's delight... you could open up a massive security hole that lets an attacker use both the codebase and the diff algo to do all sorts of nasty stuff with the network and blockchain.

Changed your post a bit.  No changes like this were made, only discussed.

See what happens when you people get Kilo all fired up... the man is on fire, people.  En fuego.
