Chinese people don't know about NLG. I will ask about getting coin onto Chinese exchange and that will help with more mining from China.

https://gulden.com/zh/ and https://timeline.gulden.com/ can help maybe.

What's going on with the blockchain ?   It seems to be stalling and then spurting.  A pattern of no blocks being found for 1/2 hour or 40 minutes, then a string of blocks all within the next couple minutes, then again no blocks for 40 minutes or so.

Welcome to the world of big hashrate jump pools that selfishly solve low difficulty blocks with a lot of hash rate in a few seconds then go away for a while until the diff drops back below their jump in threshold creating this bunching of blocks you describe.  There are some visualizations of this at nlgstats.nl under charts tab

Indeed selfish... destroying their way of income. If I harvest my land to grow corn I will take care for it to last forever. Not taking out all resources and leave a dead landscape. This is actually exactly what these jumping pools are doing. Destroying themselves... What a waste of energy, hardware and resources.... unbelievable stupid.

It's not the jump pools that are selfish but the miners using those jump pools. Jump pools owners are most likely in touch with human nature of instant gratification and greed, they are trying to ROI as quickly as possible to get their initial purchase funds returned.
Indirectly these miners have caused a whole lot of scrypt coins to switch algorithms or merge mine with litecoin. Luckily for them Gulden has stuck with scrypt and will be a big player in the currency markets, it really is a matter of time.

Those dedicated miners staying on the Gulden blockchain will lose profits today but will gain much more down the road then those jump pool miners looking to limit their losses at current rates.

Latest dedicated community hashing session has stopped a few days ago. That is why multipools have more influence at the moment. When a lot of blocks are found in short time, multipools jumped in just before that and jump out again after that. No worry though. Also maybe a new communty mining session will be started again soon. https://community.gulden.com/t/community-mining-ipo-sg-follow-up/1252/96

With base dedicated hash of about 1 GH/s multipools have almost no effect with current algoritm Delta, so only a little bit more individual dedicated hash would be good as well. Maybe it can be promoted to mine again individually as well.

Until Gulden passes litecoin in marketcap this will be a problem as multipools come in for the easy difficulty blocks and then leave for the harder blocks. Gulden is at stage in time where it's profitable for multipools to mine but not good enough to stay on the chain. The only solution is to beat litecoin or to change algorithms. DELTA has made things much better as there used to be 500 minute block times.

Other scrypt coins are experiencing over 9hr block times. The ones that haven't resorted to merge mining.

Yesterday I made a add coin request at Shapeshift. Lets see if they like to add us. Please retweet -> https://twitter.com/Gulden_Web/status/664832564532785153

---

Also this month we have a nice surpise from the Dutch Gulden newssite GuldenWeb. More soon  Cool

Adding Gulden would be a smart play for shapeshift as those people holding coins that aren't going to progress much from where they are can trade into a currency with a growing community base and bright future.

Gulden is now supported in the Ercinee PriceAPI: http://ercinee.eu/ and https://github.com/BioMike/PriceAPI
People are free to use the API in their projects.

Ercinee can be followed on twitter for updates regarding this: @EcineeCrypto

Thanks Bio, this will definitely come in handy for future developments.

Gulden won't be affected by the consensus bug that has just recently struck Peercoin as per the below.

https://github.com/ppcoin/ppcoin/issues/100

I have made an official statement regarding this on our development blog.

https://developer.gulden.com/blog/

Thanks for the update Waterloo, it brings great comfort and peace of mind that the team is on top of things and keeping things up to date. It must be quite embarrassing for a coin with such a high value as Peercoin to have been caught out like this.

Scary!
