old but best Why not the 3rd? I loved it as much as I did 2nd. Me and my buddy completed last soviet mission on the first try, by crazy suicide tactics with only 2 second till countdown. It was the ultimate coop xperience
Other CnC games like tiberian sun sucked a bit in multiplayer. Storywise they were awesome but multi lacked.
Supreme Commander, the second one sucks though and there's Rome Total War, I think everything Creative Assembly made after that has been crap sadly and DRM infested.
Rise of nations. Old but very good.
Warcraft 3 was a lot of fun a few years back. I'm not sure if people still play it online though. But you did mention your playing with friends so it should be fine.

old but best +1, I love that game... in multiplayer game you have a hope to recover even if you have just 1 building or 1 unit left (you could sell the building and get a unit from it, and then find a chest with MCV).

Yes, if he finds you ) in multiplayer games you often have allies with GAP generators that would help ) and often you pick up many chests with $$$ before you find an MCV, so you can recover really fast. Though you could find a mine as well... But you know, 1 unit or building is just a hope, not a guarantee to win ) At least you can continue playing, unlike warcraft, starcraft and many other games, where you can have a developed base, but if you don't have units and money, then you are done.
