I thought there was a power ledger wallet as when you type power ledger wallet, there is a site called powerledger.io?
Did you look at the website? Huh

By the way, how many of these coins can i install at once?  Example i installed bitcoin and also waves already.  I know there is a limit but i believe that has changed?   Also if i see waves in my nano ledger s when i scroll around it on the ledger screen, that means i have it downloaded right?
There is no "exact" limit... It all depends on specifically which coin apps you install on your device. What changed was Ledger refactored the apps, so that coins which are similar (for instance, BTC, BCH, LTC, DOGE and other coins based on BTC) are able to all be installed together and "share" the BTC coin app code on the device... the end result being that you can install more of them. However, other coins which do not have similar code take up more space and you'll be limited to how many you can install before the device runs out of space:

The number of installable apps varies

  • Apps have different sizes.
  • Apps based on Bitcoin or Ethereum are small. You can install a lot of them at the same time, stacking them. You can install up to 24 apps that are based on Bitcoin.
  • Other apps are independent and cannot be stacked. You can typically install 4 to 5 of those.
  • If you can install less apps than before, reinstall all apps in a different order to reset the storage.

Ledger suggest either simply using "Manager" in Ledger Live to install/uninstall coin apps as required... or buying additional devices Tongue
Quote
Simultaneously use more apps
To avoid uninstalling apps to free storage, you can use another device for different apps. If you restore the recovery phrase from the first device on the second one, both devices manage the same private keys and will access the same accounts

Also are you familiar with powerledger?  I notice that ledger s supports it.  But then it shows you need MEW or mycrypto as the wallet similar to like waves wallet and nano ledger s?  So example if i keep powerledger in my trading account, i can't just send it to nano ledger s.  I need either MEW or mycrypto to use in combination with nano ledger s?  So you cant even use powerledgers own wallet for this?
As far as I can tell, POWR is just another ERC20 token that utilises the ETH network and there is no "Power Ledger wallet"... so I'm not sure what you're talking about? Huh

Like all the other ERC20 tokens, it will require you to use an ETH based wallet that supports tokens, like MEW or MyCrypto, in conjunction with your Nano S.

HCP thanks.  And putting a password is 100 percent recommended right?  I know with electrum, you told me a while back, you 100 percent need to put one for sending btc.  But the other password of seeing its balance, well that is of course recommended but not required but of course someone checking your computer could view it very easily etc.

HCP, when i do the thing with waves, so that would mean all my waves would be transferred to the nano ledger s if i do the transfer?  Thus there would be 0 waves in my waves client?
Do you know what happens to all those airdrops from waves like wave community token and similar coins etc?
No. I have no idea about waves. Go ask on the Waves Community Forums.

Also.  Does this mean i could basically right now check my nano ledger s with either ledger live or that bitcoin ledger app from the chrome store?  Thus i still have 2 options to choose from anytime i want?  Also i notice that when i opened ledgerlive without the ledger connected to it, it still showed the currency balance of btc there.  But that is updated live is that correct?  Like example i sent some btc using the bitcoin ledger wallet from chrome.  Then i unplug it from laptop.  Then i open ledgerlive... but i do not have the ledger connected to my laptop.  It would show the correct updated btc balance?
Yes, the public keys for your Ledger Nano S are "saved" within Ledger Live wallet... so it is a "Watching Only" wallet. So it can show live balance without your device connected. If you receive any coins in the accounts that you have setup with Ledger Live, the balances will be updated accordingly.

This is one of the key benefits of Ledger Live... you can monitor your accounts without the device being attached.

Okay when i installed waves from coin app from manager... i actually had the waves lite client opened.  I did not notice this earlier.  You say you are not suppose to do that.  Is there any effect this had?  I had the waves lite client opened and did not know it would have any affect.
No... I'm saying that if you try to use Waves client... and have Ledger Live open at the same time, it most likely won't work properly as your Ledger Nano S can only communicate with one program at a time.

Nothing "Bad" will happen... it just more than likely won't connect properly.

Right now i closed the waves lite client.  But where is that page where i could choose to download all those apps?  I cannot find this on ledger live at the moment.

Yes, you can install the Waves coin app to your device... but you cannot use Waves from within Ledger Live. It does not show in the list of currencies available when you got to add an account.

The only way to interact with Waves using the Ledger Live is via the Waves Web or Desktop Client.

Okay this is strange.  Is there a reason why i can't go back to that page where it shows the manager and all the coins i could install like waves and every other coin?
Click "Manager" within Ledger Live to find the coin apps.

Because when i click on accounts and the plus sign, there is only a small number of coins i could add from there.  Like i don't see an option to add powerledger for example.  I cannot find this page anymore.
Exactly... you CANNOT add an "Account" for Waves (and lots of the other altcoins) directly within Ledger Live. They need to use their own interfaces... Waves needs the Waves Web or Desktop Client.

Also, seriously, learn how to use the "Edit" button Roll Eyes

You are massively overcomplicating a VERY simple process...

1. Install whatever coin apps you want on the device using "Manager" within Ledger Live
2. Create "Accounts" for the coins you want to view within Ledger Live

NOTE: You CANNOT add Waves to Ledger Live at this time, you need to connect your device to the waves webclient as per the instructions: https://docs.wavesplatform.com/en/waves-client/account-management/ledger-nano.html

It is like using MyEtherWallet... make sure Ledger Live is NOT running when you try to connect to the waves web client, as it might interfere with browser->device connection.

So right before this, i had installed the waves from the app catalog.  When i did this, the waves is available on my nano ledger s when you browse through it.  But i did not do the waves client with nano ledger s connection yet.

But as of now, i don't have bitcoin when i scroll left to right.  It is only waves.

So right now follow the instructions i posted right before this post?

Install bitcoin version 1.3.1.  Then once i do this.  Click on Accounts and click on add and put in bitcoin and continue?  And what do i name it?

Thanks man.

Okay so right now with bitcoin.  I first click on install next to bitcoin version 1.3.1.

Then once i do that, click on accounts, add and click on bitcoin and call it bitcoin 1?

Then once i do that, click on portfolio and i could view my btc?  If i don't do the 2nd part, then when i click on portfolio, there is nothing there?

So when i add bitcoin to it, do i need to do both things here?  Thus click on install bitcoin.  And then Click on that plus next to the add accounts to add accounts to this portfolio?  Im confused why there are like 2 options here?
You have to add "accounts" within Ledger Live, so that Ledger Live knows what coins you "have", or at least, are interested in viewing in Ledger Live.

NOTE: If you don't have the coin app installed on the device, you won't be able to add an account for it.

You have to add the coin app on the device itself, so that the device can communicate the correct info to/from Ledger Live. Remember, the device really just holds a "seed"... ALL the coins use the same seed. The coin app on the device, is responsible for converting from the seed to the coin specific addresses etc.

Okay this is another thing that confuses me.  So i have to install the bitcoin app from that app catalog right?  So example i could just install bitcoin, waves right now and once i do that, then its installed.  But there is this option on the bottom left where it ask you to add account.  I saw in video the guy would add bitcoin and then name it bitcoin 1.

So when i add bitcoin to it, do i need to do both things here?  Thus click on install bitcoin.  And then Click on that plus next to the add accounts to add accounts to this portfolio?  Im confused why there are like 2 options here?

Firstly... STOP multi posting... just edit the post and add to it. There is no need to make 4 posts in a row. Roll Eyes

Generally, that "download" logo and update indicates that it is trying to transfer the new firmware to the ledger device. However it is has been stuck like that for a while, then it might mean that something has not quite gone right.

Personally, I would disconnect the Ledger Device. Shut down Ledger Live and start from the beginning.

- Open Ledger Live
- Enter password
- Connect your device when prompted
- Unlock it
- Start the Firmware update again.

For reference, this video shows the process using Ledger Live: https://youtu.be/aewV2HmppzM?t=47

He seemed to have some issues with the "identifier" not being displayed on his device. Not sure if this has since been fixed.
