Bump, it's that time of the year!  Smiley
We are back! Yes! This will be an exciting year.
I am glad AD is playing very healthy and let the Lakers fan have a peek of how he will do it this year. Lakers is truly scary and we haven't even seen WB and LBJ.
Sadly, I forgot to put my bets and Stake.com doesn't offer bets for the preseason. (or did I miss it.)
Checked Sportsbet and I also don't see anything listed for tomorrow but just for October 20 games. Anyone have an idea if they input it before the games or they just don't?
Sportsbet offered a line for the Lakers vs Nets, maybe you miss the game because it's too early.

We have plenty of games tomorrow, and there are lines that are already available.
You can check, https://sportsbet.io/sports/basketball/usa/nba-preseason/matches

Congrats @viscore for the win.

Bookies should come up with odds/markets an hour or two before the game, or soon as they get clarity on who is going to play and who is not.

Anyways, i'm super excited! The NBA is back!  Smiley

Odds are now available, we only have one game in the opening of NBA preseason.

Los Angeles Lakers -3.5 vs Brooklyn Nets +3.5.

Hard to tell since this is just a preseason game, but I think the value here is on the underdog team, so I'll not go for the spread, instead I'm talking the Nets moneyline at 2.35.

Good luck on that, no Westbrook and Lebron for the Lakers, while no KD, Irving, and Harden on the Nets.

This is a good match-up, who knows Nets would win this game and the good thing also that Aldrige is back and has been playing really well in this game.
ML is worth it, I guess.  Smiley

If you bet for the Nets as an underdog  the result favors you, without the trio Nets managed to win.

The second squad of Nets shows good jive together they win the game with a very decent leads,
It's just first game and only in pre-season nothing affects the overall performance of the team.

In the side of Nets, Aldridge is playing and even in lesser minutes it shows that he still have it
and he look like healthy.

Bump, it's that time of the year!  Smiley

The NBA preseason kicks off today (3rd Oct) at 3:30 pm ET with Nets @ Lakers!

Most teams will have between 4 and 6 preseason games to get ready for the regular season which starts in about two and a half weeks from now.

source: https://nypost.com/2021/10/02/nets-joining-lakers-in-sitting-stars-for-preseason-opener/
Quote
The Lakers announced they will sit LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony and Trevor Ariza for the preseason opener. Nets head coach Steve Nash effectively replied, hold my beer, and confirmed his team will rest no fewer than seven players.

The Big 3 of Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving will all sit for the Nets, as will incumbent starters Joe Harris and Blake Griffin and veterans Patty Mills and James Johnson. That will provide an opportunity for youngsters, such as rookie Cam Thomas, and newcomers, such as Jevon Carter.

^...both teams will sit their stars, but we might see Anthony Davis who is the only high-profile name that is expected to get some minutes, probably a quarter.

Bookies should come up with odds/markets an hour or two before the game, or soon as they get clarity on who is going to play and who is not.

Well , I had no idea about summer league until I saw this post so cheers to you.

One question tho. Are teams really playing with at least some of the main players that will play in the regular season ? because I can't find who is playing for who but I might take a peak to find some streams and wait for tomorrow game of Bulls against Pelicans.

As far as I know, no, they are not playing with their superstars in the summer league. Usually it's more on of a rookie and sophomore and some prospects from the D-League and unrestricted free agents. They are given the opportunity to play with their teams and show their talents. Specially for D-League and unrestricted free agents, maybe the NBA teams will show interest on them if they show something in this tournament.

Sometimes they'll play their main players just to warm them up a bit, but they only played with very limited minutes, it's the initiative of the coach not to play them so they can avoid injury, this is a nonbearing game, it's not part of the tally in the regular season, so no need to risk them on the floor. you know superstars are valuable investments, the management can't afford to see their main players injured after getting them to sign with a huge amount.

It's better for the coach not to bring their A players in this league for me. They have pre-season NBA games and that's where you put your players and see how they are going to fit.

I'm not betting though, much better to watch this young guys, specially rookies (high draft picks). Some highlights of fellow Pinoy Jalen Green and he is really that good, hope he can live on the hype when regular seasons come. Kudos though to @morvillz7z for bringing this up and putting a bet.

Yes, he is good, but unfortunately, he was injured, and this is the latest report of his injury.

Jalen Green injury: Rockets rookie expected to miss rest of Summer League due to sore hamstring, per report

Quote
Houston Rockets guard Jalen Green, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, is expected to miss the remainder of the Las Vegas Summer League due to a sore hamstring, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports. While the injury is not expected to be serious, he will undergo an MRI as a precaution, ESPN's Tim MacMahon added.

Maybe I'll start betting in the preseason.  Here's the preseason schedule.

Summer league I basically Rookies and second year guys.  Established players and vets don't play.  It's basically a showcase and for some guys on the outside looking in at making rosters to show their game off.  And for the drafted Rookies it gets them time with the team to run plays they will be running during the season.  Either way it's a fun watch

This is the opportunity for the rookies and the bench players in the regular season to earn good minutes as they will only be used in the regular season when their team will have a very comfortable lead or when they are losing and the team has a very little chance to win anymore.

Long time no see... Grin

Who else will be watching and betting on the NBA Summer League which kicks off today at 4pm Eastern (August 8-17 in Las Vegas)?

Almost all of the top drafted rookies will be there and playing, as well as some second and third year guys. Day 1, better matchups to look for are Mobley vs. J. Green at 6:30 p.m. ET and Cade Cunningham vs. Josh Giddey at 8:30 p.m. ET. I'm actually super excited to see that Australian youngster OKC drafted so high in the draft, i know very little to nothing about, but most people are raving about him.  You can check teams' full rosters and schedule here:

https://www.nba.com/summer-league/2021/vegas/team-rosters

https://www.nba.com/summer-league/2021/vegas/schedule

I have a small bet on the Pistons vs. OKC game, picking up Detroit's moneyline because they have one of the best rosters in Las Vegas: Killian Hayes, Isaiah Stewart, Saben Lee, Saddiq Bey <— these dudes played huge minutes for Detroit the last third of the season, not to mention Pistons also have Luka Garza, who was pretty dominant in NCAA last season, not sure why he went so low in the draft at 52, maybe because the NBA doesn't care about skilled big men anymore, sad...

Hehe that is a good strategy. How much would it work on team betting against the spread? If the Lakers are -5 versus the Clippers, how much would the odds increase for you to win if instead you bet -4? I might try this next season hehehe.
There's not much of a difference with how much the profits will be like if -5 is equal to 1.98 then -4 will be just below a little bit 1.70 - 1.85. But in game, that 1 point saves you sometimes. Like how Giannis saved my bet after Pat Connaughton missed both freethrow. I was madly screaming that time because he can lock the win and make me win my bet too. Grin Luckily, it still worked out at the end.

The point spread is where you will feel the excitement of game, whether you'll bet on the favorites on the underdog, 1 point could change the outcome of your bet, so you have to hope also that you will be lucky so you'll win. In the series, Bucks all covered the spread when they are listed as favorites.

I am quite certain everyone who bets on sports reads the news about injuries, team news and studies the statistics to make a prediction. I am not asking for predicitions but I am asking what are the best websites being used by the NBA experts in the thread to collect all information about the teams and their statistics.
There are always off nights and good nights with players so it's hard to predict. For me though, I just use the betting spreads for analysis.
Then, just put the bet 1 shy away like if x2 is 200 total score then I'll go 199 or even lower for a higher chance of win.
When it comes to winning teams, they always put the obvious with favoritism. We cannot escape the losing part though like one time I took a bet for 220+ total score Nets vs Bucks playoffs Game 3 and it end up a low scoring game 86-83.
Betting sites predictions are almost alike so you will just have to use average numbers and history of a team winning percentage against the team they are up to.

Hehe that is a good strategy. How much would it work on team betting against the spread? If the Lakers are -5 versus the Clippers, how much would the odds increase for you to win if instead you bet -4? I might try this next season hehehe.

Since there will be no available NBA games to bet for several months, is there anything aside from games that can be bet to keep this thread alive? Betting futures is common and I think not a good time to bet for it.

Are there any sportsbooks that offer a bet for let's say Lebron will be traded to a team, YES or NO? Something like that but of course not in Lebron if anyone will start a discussion for that lol.

This is a very cool idea. Trading bets, if I am not mistaken in NFL there are specials like this where people can bet on drafts and trades. I am not very sure though. But it is something I feel that would give edge to players or to those who fix the game. Say, a sportsbook would make this special: say Lebron to be traded. If a lot of bets would favor a trade, who would stop Lebron or his agents to bet on their favor.

Trading bets? Ooohh that will be fun. Sadly I don't know any sports book who does that. Let's wait if some of our members here have an idea about it.
I hate to see this thread close too and I want to keep myself updated with every movement that will happen with teams and players. That way, I won't be shocked to see Giannis in Charlotte Hornets for example.  Grin
Any sites taking bets on who will be the NBA Finals winner next year? I’d like to take a look at the odds. I’d probably be willing to place bets on the Lakers winning the west and the Nets winning the east at this point. I think they’ll both get their injury issues taken care of with this longer offseason and come back next year ready to go for a ring.
How about GSW? Klay Thompson will be back and this time they will be sure to let him play 100 percent rather than injure himself again after healing.
