Could this be a rare case of a faulty GPU ? If all else fails, I think the steps are these :

- start with an ever fresher copy of Win, a whole new copy of Win 7. Different version, like Home instead of Professional
- install everything all over again
- if all else fails, try a different GPU, send that one back.

I got 2 cards surely they both cant be rooted. I removed one card and tried that as well, no go

will try setting from magnet

Sorry, I missed the part that you had 2 cards.

OK, what have you NOT ruled out yet ? It can be a really silly thing you know. After years of building my own systems I still forget to make sure every cable is plugged in 100% all the way, for example.

Sometimes the only way to find these things is to literallly take everything apart, wipe clean the HD and start again.

And use GPU_Z to check if you GPU / Memory is running at correct speed!

I am using the latest cgminer (3.1.?) and I installed AMD SDK 2.8 separately.  And I have 12 gb of RAM, corsair vengeance.  It matters for scrypt...

Which reminds me, did you try mining a SHA coin, like BTC or TRC?  Were you able to get over 700 mh?  If so then it's clear mem clock speed is the issue.

I had the exact same problem with the exact same cards....and none of the guides out there gave me anything more than 10kh difference.  But...the settings that hope2907 gave you were what I was going to suggest as well...cuz when I finally found those settings posted somewhere I jumped up to about 725 per card.  Mine are pretty much identical but I don't use temp-target....also I don't know if it is true or not but somebody on the boards here somewhere said that he didn't get any change in hashrate unless he put --thread-concurrency as the last setting.

This is how one of my bat files looks, for scrypt mining (pool stuff removed)

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
cgminer --scrypt --failover-only --intensity 13 -s 1 -g 2 --worksize 256 --auto-fan --gpu-engine 1044 --gpu-memclock 1500 --thread-concurrency 8192

These were the ONLY settings that made any difference at all to my hashrate.

-auto-fan --temp-target 79 --gpu-engine 1044 --gpu-memclock 1500 --thread-concurrency 8192 -I 13 -g 2 -w 256

it should get you 730

And the Winnder is "WhiteDragon"" tried those exact same settings AGAIN but this time with 13.3Beta_3 drivers and BAMM 700-720kh

WTF!!!

I got these cards and I got 750+ kh on cgminer and oddly enough, 760+ kh on guiminer-scrypt.  my settings are nothing fancy, but here's what I do:

I use Sapphire trixx to oc.
set core clock to 1085
mem clock to 1500
leave voltage alone at 1170

and command line arguments are:

--thread-concurrency 8192 -w 256 -v 1 -g 2 -I 13

make sure to use stock bios.

Note that I get 750+ kh with one or two gpu rig....as soon as I add a third, because of psu or mobo bandwidth (i really don't know), my hash rate drop to about 740 kh for each card....I have five running on one rig.
Also note, these cards get HOT.  And that's because they vent hot air from the top and bottom and not through the sides.  So if you have your gpus in a case (ie. not open air or on a rack/crate) your rates will suffer because of temps.  Let me know how it goes.

I forgot to mention, I am runnin cata 13.1, AMD SDK 2.8, on Win8 64bit

I downloaded trixx and tried these settings just for fun...speed dropped from 725 down to around 575 (my old range).  Seems every card is different.  But then again...different catalyst version and OS.

Thats is crazy, I've got 8 PC's right here, 5770,6850,5870,6950,6970,5970,5830 and 2 x 6990 and all those cards were configured within 2 minutes and running withing 5% of max speed according to the HW comparison websote, but these 7970's are fucked to put it mildly..

My two Gigabyte 7970 OC cards run with the following settings:

Code:
start /D "C:\cgminer" cgminer.exe --scrypt -o poolname:port -u username -p password --thread-concurrency 8192 -I 13 --lookup-gap 2 --worksize 256 -g 2 -d 0 -d 1 --gpu-memclock 1500,1500 --shaders 2048 --gpu-engine 1080,1080 --gpu-fan 70,70

@ 743 Khash/s.

Tips:
- check real GPU and MEM speed with GPU_Z, maybe memory is not running at right speed
- use the latest CGMiner available

I guess I should mention I'm running 13.4 on fresh install of Win 7 64bit with 4gb ram.  My card bios version shows as 015.025.000.007

I'm running the same bios as you, fresh copy of win 7 64bit and also tried win 8 64bit as well.

Will try 13.1, 13.3beta and 13.4 as well.

cgminer 2.11.4, 3.1.10 & 3.1.1 also tried as well

I tried those settings and overclocked with trixx and increased 20kh to 585kh now.

I will uninstall my drivers and try 13.1

do you use those sdk that comes with 13.1 or install skd 2.8 separately?

I will shutdown and see what rev of card I got

I've spent 2 days on this and can't get it....

I went desperate and flashed my giga bios over to a sapphire and nothing > https://forum.litecoin.net/index.php?topic=2963.0

Just to mention, thank you all forhelping me out

I pasted your settings and nothing changed, still 560-565

GPU load according to GPU-Z is 98%

Another thing you can try that I found posted here somewhere if the 1044/1500 settings don't work...is to start there, then leave memory at 1500 and change engine (within cgminer) one notch at a time and see if it makes any difference.  Each card might have a slightly different "sweet spot"...so try moving engine speed up or down a couple (1045,1046,1043)  and see if any of those help.

1044/1500 worked great for me, but maybe yours need 1043/1500 or 1045/1500...

Good luck!

Oh ya...and I wanted to add...I feel your pain.  I spent like 18 hours messing with those cards without seeing so much as 10kh variance (580-590).  I just bought mine like two weeks ago.
