Man... I'll tell by experience.... and I live in Europe so I know what's the cost of energy.

If you bought miners at this time you would never reach ROI.

If you are really interested in mining you better stay away from it before the next halving. After that, there will also be new hardware coming out. Considering that BTC price will increase, Then you can decide if you want to invest in mining.

Until then, better buy some BTC and hold.

With electricity prices in the EU have no chance to get the ROI. Generally, for individuals the cheapest energy we have in Bulgaria , Romania , Hungary , Croatia , Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland about 0.088-0.144 Euro / kWh. The highest price paid residents in Denmark, Germany , Cyprus and Ireland about 0.294-0.241 Euro / kWh.

I have recently bought an S3 & an S3+ from ebay in the UK, total delivered price was £190 GBP, which was a good price I could easily have paid more.

So 4 would be £380 GBP in Euro that is 540 Euro. So 600 Euro for 4 S4 is about right. There is much less supply in UK / Europe than the USA.

yeah sometimes when I offer advice I forget the europe supplies are far different then usa supplies.

plus s-3's have drifted upwards in price from a low of 85 usd to current usa prices of 125usd

I will try to find a S5 then , thanks guys Smiley

Why when four s-3's should be cheaper and make more money for you?

Really? how and where, are you accounting also for the psu?

you are in europe.  so I assume you are using 220 volt power.

4 s-3's are about 400 to 440 euros.

and the server psu that does  up to 2880 watts is under 200 euros.

I will find the link

Cheapest I can find for 4 s-3's is around 800 eur

could be since I can  find  usa ones one ebay and price has gone up. I got my last 2 for 85 usd shipped they are now over 140 shipped

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bitmine-Antminer-S3-never-overclocked-ASIC-Bitcoin-441-GH-s-SHA-256-/301707363703?hash=item463f290577

below is european seller of 2880watt server psu.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/wts-custom-server-psu-breakout-boards-1200w-1300w-2000w-2880w-4kw-738527

now I went to ebay uk and found the antminer s-3

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ANTMINER-S3-Virtual-Currency-Miner-BitCoin-SHA-256-366W-ASIC-Miner-/371410014463?hash=item5679c310ff

he wants 167 usd shipping included  4x that is 660 usd

but since you may not be in the uk maybe your 200  euro each price is correct

good luck finding a good price.  I wish I could be more helpful but all my sources would be usa based.

you need to maximize your wattage usage, so you need to buy a combination of equipment that let you utilize the whole 1500

you can do some combination like two s5(but i doubt you can find two for less than 500...), which consume 1180 plus a slightly underclocked s3 which is probably less than 340, its maximum voltage without modification

or you can also do 4 x overcloked s3, which will cost you far less than 600, it seems the better option

I would choose s5 . It is loud . If you do overclock it, using the air conditioner it reaches much more than 1.15TH . The trouble is the price. Now, can be purchased for approx. 540 Euro in stock. If ordered from Bitmaintech come out cheaper. It depends on which EU country you live and how high is the VAT . For this example, good ATX power supply Corsair CS750M at a price of approx . 110 Euro . And we have set for one s5 .

Where I live VAT is pretty high, but normally I don't pay for it if I order from another EU country

Marmelo it is true that inside the EU there is the free movement of persons (Schengen only) and goods. But when you import from China by DHL or UPS you would definitely pay VAT. And the amount of this tax varies depending on the country. It can be 19 % or eg . 23%.
You need to calculate whether more profitable to buy from a private person from the EU or company from the EU (EU law allows you to return goods without giving any reason within 14 days probably) or buy in Bitmaintech ( you have 30 days warranty) and do customs clearance and pay larger shipping and VAT.
Bitmain shipping is pretty high, he could probably do better on here with the marketplace and just get a couple used s5 and save some cash.
To EU about $50-60. Must check after login.
In the EU it is hard to buy s5 at a good price . They disappear from the market quickly. There is much more bids to buy , and s5 for sale disappear very quickly.

S3's I would say, you can get them cheaper and can underclock to run quieter .. Tack on the PSU and your set

where would you recommend me to buy them in europe? Also if i buy 2 , can you recommend me a wattage for the psu?
Thanks

I can't really help in relation to the second question, but a good starting point for the first could be inquiring in the "Marketplace > Goods > Computer Hardware" section of the forum (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=75.0) - there are always a few threads from users selling them, and a lot more threads from users buying them. Before to start anything, i would turn them into US-Dollars first. Usd/Eur is getting close to 1 every day.

Hi guys
I have a spare ~600 euros to spend on mining , I have a place where I can use electricity for pretty cheap as long as I don't use more than ~1500W
What would you guys recommend me to spend on (including power supply and accessories) I see a lot of talk about the Antminer S5 but why not get 20 Antimer U3's instead? And what kind of powersupplies would i need for both ?
Thank you all

do not buy u3's they suck they are hard too run you will go crazy with them.

how cheap is your 1500 watts of power?

10 cents usa  is not cheap  6 cents usa is pretty good.

if you are euro base .04 euro = 6 cents usa (last I looked that was exchange rate)

if you can do 1000 watts for  0.04 euros s-5's are really decent.

Well, I got a "special" deal and can use up to about 1500w without paying anything

s-3's are much quieter .  you could run 4 of them and stay under 1500 watts  maybe do  1.8th

s-5's are noisy you could do 2 and stay under 1500 watts maybe hash at 2.3th

s-3's should be a lot cheaper then s-5's so in the short run if you get cheap s-3's that is best.  .

by short run the next 6 months

Hi Philip!
Do you know if there are a web page with asic miner ranked for MHash/watt and decibel at 1THash?
