they got rid of listing assets on the home page due to all the scams.. so it forces you to find the correct asset and therefore minimizes risk! its a pain if you know exactly what your looking for but it will save allot of people allot of money so im all for it! its not reasonable to search through 1000's of assets ether which is what would have happened had it been left the way it was!
That makes sense in some way. Although I think people should do some research before buying any asset/coin - sounds like not showing any products on amazon because the quality of some are shitty Wink

First time I'm running a NXT wallet and wondering how the exchange is working (receiving BTC - where do I put my BTC address etc?).
So has someone an example Assed ID for me so I can have a look at it? Frome the changelog of NXT client it seems like just the latest version doen't list available assets anymore :/

What will the ID of NEM assets be - just NEM?

Thanks in advance  Cheesy

what do you mean by where do i put my btc address? do you want to send btc to nxt client? that wont be available until multigateway is available.

nem hasnt been listed on nxt AE yet so there is no asset ID.

have all the blocks downloaded? the AE wont show until block 135k. assets will start popping up from then on. how many characters in your password? make sure you use a strong password. ie. 40 characters plus. and dont use a common phrase.

is you want to send your address to utopian in order to receive your stake, look top left.. you will a string of characters like xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx

hover over or click it, and click copy... thats what you send utopian
Thanks!
My password has > 50 characters (Keepass!). NXT client 1.1.4 doesn't list assets anymore. You have to directy enter either an asset ID or account number.

I thought I read somewhere it would be already possible to trade assets for BTC, $, € or anything else. Can't find the source, though. So currently you can trade only with NXT?

It is up to the asset issuer how many digits after decimals point to allow (max 8). Internally, all amounts and prices are of course handled as integers (java longs), in the smallest possible unit. That "decimals" parameter is for convenience only when displaying assets like US dollar and Bitcoin in the UI, so that USD can be defined with decimals=2, and BTC with decimals=8. But internally, those will be handled in cents and satoshis.

So if you want to express quantities down to one millionth of a stake, it is certainly possible, just define the asset with decimals=6. Or, you can indeed define one asset unit equal to one NEM, then everybody who has 1 stake gets to have 1,000,000 asset units.

The only limitation is, the cost of a bid order (the amount you can trade in one transaction) needs to fit in a java long. But as the total available amount of NXT, expressed in NQT (our equivalent of satoshi), fits, unless NEM gets really really expensive, this should not be a problem.

Try it on our testnet first if you find all that fractional amounts definitions confusing.

3. Conversion of NEMstake tokens to NEM: Owners of NEMstake tokens need to send the total amount of tokens he owns back to the issuer with a message (use the message function within Nxt asset exchange) in the form: (Quantity of the tokens) space (NEM receiving address) in order to receive the corresponding amount of NEM in the receiving address.

This can be simplified even more. Our Asset Transfer transaction also has a "comment" field where you can put arbitrary text (1000 chars limit). So the token owners can put only their NEM address in the asset transfer comment, no need for separate message. Then, after you (the issuer) send them the actual NEM, you can destroy the token by transferring it to the Genesis account, and in the comment of that asset transfer put the NEM transaction id, as a record that the NEM has been issued and sent.

Thanks @Jean-Luc. I did not notice that. I will check and edit the rules.

all listed on  , or non.
it is not fair to list partly accounts.

I doubt 1000 will ask for it so "1000" limit won't even be a problem...
