Well, what he(laniakea) means is the following: an "attacker" can access NCC=>Settings, enter e.g. 0.0.0.0 as remote server and 123 as port. Boom, NIS offline, and node owner -- unless grasping how the software works -- confused, as Nis can't be relaunched and wallets can't be opened with such setting in place.



In the settings enter 127.0.0.1 and check default port

idk the previous setting. i reinstalled the nem program in a new folder, but still the same problem appear.

Well, to be honest I think there might be proof, but I am in no way involved in the matter, as I have already explained to smaragda.

1) I wouldn't know how you can crash NIS by accessing NCC. Btw: This does NOT mean people can access your wallet! You are using a strong password, so thats not possible even IF you have the port 8989 open!
2) By default all ports are closed in your router. Just don't open port 8989, and you are fine.
3) This is not an issue for the network. This is not even a security issue for anybody. But of course it is annoying, if people can create wallets with your NCC So yes, it IS recommended to close the port which is used for NCC, which usually is 8989.

It is a problem but rather a small one  . Please view this youtube video- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbFiWeeMUDI. And then block the port 8989. This will ensure that nobody can remote access your NCC. Everybody should block the port 8989 in the inbound and outbound rules.
