It's been a while. Is Nem launching soon?
Early December, we hope !!!
We hope yes. If not then not. I'm not too worried about WHEN we launch. For me it's important HOW we launch. Launching a stable network that is absoutely bullet-proof and well tested is much more important to me than launching next month or even this year.
Only few coins that have released recently have been written from scratch and they are facing serious issues. I don't know how Crypti is doing but NODE had some outages recently...again. This can't and won't happen to us because we won't release until we're absolutely ready for it.
I don't mean to say we're taking things slow - hell no. We're going as fast as possible but as slow as neccessary. People will be able to be confident in our software and network from day 1 and that is worth a lot more than launching before some imaginary deadline.
Other things - beside devlopment - also take time but as xtester said those things will be announce soon
When I did research into the
Map of Coins I found that there were dozens of people claiming to launch new coins from new codes. Of those, only three of note have live blockchains. They are Node, Crypti, and Qora and all three of those are suffering badly. NEM in beta is already better than they are by far.
The reality is that NXT is the only new code that has been able to become successful. (If you can call NXT successful. It has definitely met a lot of resistance in the community) Another argument can be made for Bitshares or Ripple or CounterParty, which are independent codes, but differ quite a bit in substance. For instance none of these looks to be a real competitor with Bitcoin and try to replace it, in fact just the opposite, they kind of need Bitcoin. Where as NEM won't need Bitcoin at all, it will stand on its own, and there is a chance could even someday displace Bitcoin. Yes, that day would be far off, but NEM does have better tech, just not sure how that will hold up to Bitcoin's head start.
That's right Jabo. In fact, I have been telling the devs and the rest of the team members that if we should launch in January, let it be. We have to be fair to the devs. They are not only coding. They have to work out the documentation, make our NEM exchange ready, test the codes, answer to Beta problems, solve Beta problems, finish up multisig, work on their day jobs and meet the target forced upon by many of us here who just don't know and understand what it takes to do this project. It is a monumental task that most don't appreciate.
They are world class coders to say the least!
I hope they don't need to spend Christmas coding for us instead. But I will not be taken aback if that happens. Multisig must happen at launch, like it or not. Too much at stake and NEM stakes literally!
