Why is my account, but also registered a replacement computer? Huh Shocked

I have no clue what this means. Sorry but the two of us will never ever understand each other it seems Smiley

Honestly, I hope machine translation gets better in the near future so I have an excuse to be unemployed and also so that the world can communicate more easily. Tongue

I have read a couple of last pages as well. My opinion, stop feeding the trolls! There are couple of them and we all know what their intentions are. Let's set deadlines and concentrate on us. Honestly, whatever the DEVs decide, there will always be a handful of people unhappy. Concentrate on NEM guys and ignore the wrong-thinkers and wrong-doers.

Followed instructions, downloaded and installed the client, created the "real account data", copied/verified but when I open a wallet using this created private key it shows a different address to the "real account data" created one!

When the NEM is sent to this "real account data" created account how do you access them?

The address is different because we are running the beta test network right now. After launch the main network will be up. Then you can import your real private key and the address will be as seen when the real data was created.

Thanks for the support everyone! If there are enough of us here working to actually make the world (and these forums) a better place, I think we can really make a difference. There are always going to be trolls, but they do not have to set the tone for our movement. Smiley

It is really a waste of time being vexed by a couple trolls. I will just ignore them and continue interacting with countless more who are positive about NEM.

Channel your positive energies to positive things and NEM will emerge ahead from the rest.

Agreed. Smiley

It is still better not to sieze stakes. Look at those people who bought in BTC early and forgot about if for years. they still have them if they kept the private keys.

I believe everyone heard you loud and clear. BTC case was similar, albeit it had one more step to the problem, i.e. it was a 2 step problem. One gets the BTC, put in the wallet and forget about it until one day in the future. However, who is to be blamed if one loses the key? BTC? No, the person himself or herself. In any case, it is more than likely this person would have lost the key anyway. Really, there is no difference. Only a small minority will ever recover. The world won't care. Like I said, if you attempt to please them all, there are some who will not be pleased.

In the case of NEM it is one step. There is almost a one year's grace for one to claim it (from start of the initiative to after roll out) and if one forgets, it is not as if NEM wasn't fair. After one year if one forgets, the person deserves to lose it anyway. In the end one ends up the same as one who had some BTCs, kept somewhere, but forgotten the key.

Now, please tell the forum here your solution for perpetual validity of a claim. You keep ranting about having them kept in perpetuity but you never tell us how. You assume there are volunteers here who will live forever to serve everyone. Tell us how claims can be made valid in perpetuity taking into consideration:

  • Nobody should be entrusted to keep these coins in the long run and forever
  • No one is going to be around forever
  • BTT accounts are subject to some hackers who will continually try to break into the account and get hold of these tokens.

Have you thought about that before you even want to talk about keeping unclaimed funds in perpetuity? Please enlighten the forum here before we should discuss about what you have been ranting about.

Otherwise, your argument is a waste of everyone's time including your time. It has no action plan even if we agree to it. Don't expect the volunteers to think. They have bigger fish to fry in making NEM work. If you have a strong action plan then table it out for all to consider and agree.

This thread has made me sad to see the past few days which is why I have not posted. I think it is just an inevitable part of the redemption process that all this fighting will occur. Once this is behind us everyone will forget about it and we can move on and start to really try and do what NEM has set out to do.

I'll really be glad to just get this over with. People are acting like it is an easy thing to manually redeem 3000+ stakes and distribute coins for them for a small handful of volunteers. The main thing I don't understand is those who are getting so riled up over unclaimed stakes which, if you are here getting riled up about it, should not even be a problem for you. There are going to be unclaimed stakes, just face it. There are plenty of people who paid the fee to join NEM and forgot about it or just do not care. Forget about them. What have they even done to deserve 1 million NEM other than paying an insignificant fee? If they want to get some NEM later when they realize its true potential and value then they can buy in and/or harvest like everyone else. In these early days of NEM, we need people who are dedicated to making NEM something used by every single person on the planet, not a bunch of people sitting around waiting on the rest of us to make them millionaires or billionaires. Of course, this entire movement is about financial freedom, but nobody ever said it was the "sit around and do nothing and get rich movement", particularly for us initial stakeholders.

I really wanted to try and make this the one crypto community that was friendly, nice, and free of all the bickering and drama of literally every other crypto community out there (something even Dogecoin could not manage to maintain). But, now I see that once money is involved, greed takes over as part of human nature and the fighting begins. That's a very sad fact for me to face, but I suppose I have to realize I can't expect everyone that comes here to be friendly and that trolls are an inevitable nature of the anonymity of the Internet. I'm still going to try and do whatever I can to keep this a friendly place though, even if a lot of you who are suddenly appearing over the past few days are completely undermining everything I've been trying to do over the past few months to keep this a civil place of friendly discussion and forward thinking.

Honestly, if we sit around here fighting about unclaimed stakes forever what kind of change are we making in the world? We should be sitting here talking about new and interesting ways that we can use NEM and its blockchain technology to help the other billions of people in the world live a better life, instead of trying to make sure sockpuppet1234 gets his or her unclaimed stake. Try to open your eyes and look at the bigger picture, because fighting for one random person who happened to invest a miniscule amount into NEM on BTT months ago and who obviously does not care about anything related to this movement get his or her 1 million NEM is extremely short-sighted and is not helping ANYONE.

Everyone gets distressed sometimes, however, the trolls come and go.  NEM has made a ton of progress. No need to be disappointed.  You are a great member of this community Amy.

I am not Dorian Nakamoto.
Thanks for the help, Amy Smiley

Some people just like to create problems where none exists.

Two points I would everyone to be clear with:

1. NEM is not the anti-NXT. We are writing code from scratch and have very different technology and design philosophy. There is no reason for both not to exist. The users should decide which project better suits their sensibilities.

2. I like the idea of having people voting on many decisions, but it is too hard to coordinate this in a way that can't be spammed until we get our blockchain up. After launch we hope to set up a voting system based on the NEM blockchain where things are decided on.

We are making a lot of progress on improving the beta and by launch we hope that the user experience will be a lot better.

DON'T FALL INTO A TRAP
DON'T FEED TROLLS!

Please note if anyone is intelligent enough there are trolls around to bring down the price of NEM so that these trolls can pick up  NEM Stakes for a song. The trolls and whales are the same people. Things cannot happen coincidentally. Just look at the buy and sell walls and you will soon conclude there is some monkey business going on.

Please be smart.
