As well you don't aim for second place.
...

This is axactly what sets NEM apart. Most players in the crypto space go for releasing a coin making some money hit a few exchanges and that it.
Only ver few want to go big and actually change something. NEM is one of those.

Dot.com in the late 1990s was around 130 million users and had a capitalization up to $7 trillion.

Paypal is 150 million users and some think it's $40 billion market cap..  but Paypal is a payment processor..   As in that capitalization is determined by them taking your $Fiat and slapping on fees and processing your payments and making revenue and then net profit.

If a digital currency had 150 million users then the capitalization would be in the trillions due to the commodity characteristics of digital currencies.   * * *

Currently Bitcoin right now is estimated to be 500K-2M and it had a peak capitalization of 18 billion.  Take a number like 2 million users and times it by 100 (200 million users) and you get $1.8 trillion.  Of course if Bitcoin ever got that big then more private funds, wall street and banks would go in pushing the capitalization up several more trillion.  Then you would also get those people like real estate flippers going into coins too.

What NEM is and what it becomes is the critical question here.  If NEM is the front runner of cryptos then you could see up to $700 NEM someday.   Otherwise NEM could be one of the runner ups within the context of a $1-$8 trillion digital currency market some day and yes probably attain a price up to $50 as one of the secondary currencies.

When you enter into a race you don't aim for second place or third place - you aim for first place with the intention of winning.

China blocked access to BTT a week or two ago, so we could have some NEM stakeholders who can't even access this thread and may not be aware of the official NEM forum.

That is a very good point.  Facebook and Twitter will be blocked there too 100%.  I am guessing Reddit too.  So basically all our normal modes of communication will be cut off.

All the more reason to get that QQ set up.

This really is going to mess somethings up.  A lot of Nemsters are Chinese. (and maybe a lot of sock puppets too)

Sure, we can setup QQ but how are you going to tell them about it if all channels are blocked Smiley

I've close ties to some Europeans living in China and some Chinese people too. No idea if and how they could help. And if they would do so.
Any suggestions?
May be I can ask for some support.

Would be good if you swarm the local blog/forum sites and tell them about NEM's upcoming distribution effort. Tell them about the technical challenges that they may face and prepare them to scale the Great Firewall.

I am not Dorian Nakamoto.

Then why don't we. I think it's important to get more media attention. Can't we make a list of people of people like Max Keiser for example?

Please feel free to tell others about NEM Cheesy

Does anyone know if gold/silver coin crowdsale is an IPO or not?

Is there speculation thread on nem forum?

It is a crowdsale. It is not an IPO. IPO is illegal if not done properly.

There are "exclusive privileges," however.

Speaking of censorship, America has imposed censorship on certain words.

The block as far as I know only effected Bitcointalk.  People reported that Litecointalk was unaffected.  Maybe the BTC38 and BTER forum (in Chinese) is still available to people within China?

That's a desperate attempt but maybe the only way to get a hold of them.  Redirect them to the NEM forum and you would ask them to confirm their identity with the Bitcoin or NXT wallet they used for registration.

Most technologically affine folks in China (i.e. those who're into Bitcoin and/or NEM) are used to using VPNs. Most of them won't have issues accessing Bitcointalk or other blocked channels.

Perhaps our chinese nemsters have problems to open btt.  Sad

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/now-we-chinese-cant-visit-btt-forum-in-a-normal-way-794472

Should we think about an alternative way to give them information about NEM?

Maybe in a couple of weeks the chinese government decide to close the access to our forum.

Censorship is a serious problem in china: http://cointelegraph.com/news/112603/the-strange-case-of-bitcointalks-chinese-ban

Thanks for the link.

“To Chinese government officials, they don’t care about Bitcoin but they care about a group of people gathering together to protest.”

Maybe the Chinese government is afraid of that scenario.

Yes, this was indeed a serious problem. When I was in China recently, I could not get on to Google and BTT access was sporadic. VPN won't work either. They will track you down like a cat and mouse game and disrupt your connectivity. I had a few VPNs and had to rotate using it. It is so counter productive.

I think we should communicate with fellow Nemsters via a chinese website. Anyone here from China who happened to scaled the Great Firewall?

We should write some articles on QQ. QQ is the chinese version of Twitter. It doesn't matter if some party official read it, too.

+1 for QQ.  It is the main way things there are done

Have we some chinese nemsters living in HongKong?

HongKong is a special area of china. People from HongKong can also use Twitter, Youtube, Facebook, Bitcointalk... without being afraid of censorship and they can use QQ, too.

Therefore they could participate on btt and communicate the newest information on QQ to the whole chinese mainland.

A long time ago (back when UP was in charge) there was a Chinese guy on the Trello forum.  He said that when NEM was launching he wanted to make a QQ page.  I don't recall his name now though.

Michael8888

Is he coming from HongKong?
He needs free access to bitcointalk and only there is almost no censorship.
Otherwise when he comes from outside china he can be directly on a watch.

He is in China I think.
