Let's be self-critical here-what are the potential pitfalls? My guess would be that WeChat is Chinese and therefore there could be some government intervention/prohibition.

The Chinese crypto market is crippled. As far as I can tell this is the equivalent of getting something on the Ios or Play store which anyone can do. If it did gain some traction then clearly Wechat is going to do exactly what the government will tell them to do and remove it.
I can only assume the reason it's slipped through is that Wechat or the government doesn't know what NEM is or care enough.
I think this particular news is a fun little development that got horrifically blown out of proportion.
It sounds like other interesting things will come to fruition soon.
Yeah, at the very least this coin seems to be alive again. Though it seems that any new app requires an approval process on WeChat so perhaps this isn’t something that just slipped by. Suppose we’ll see...
