The plan was originally to fork NXT and add better features which improve upon the shortcomings of NXT, and to provide fairer distribution.  In the end it was decided to start from scratch as mentioned above.

I think this started off falling when one of the Devs made some comment about not being wise to release Catapult in December.  Price movement was a gradual decline before then.

To truly know what's what it needs a generalised alt pump. 16th place or 23rd or whatever with things as they are doesn't really mean much when everyone and everything's bored out of their minds.

But no one gives a shit about this project and they never have.  Let's see what's in the pipeline leads to but the perception or total lack thereof has always been the problem rather than the tech. It's had five years to attempt to address that. It's failed completely. Can't see it magically turning around now.

Dunno what the cause of that is. Perhaps if it had been open source from the start it would've inspired developers to look closer and if the present leadership had been around back in the day it might have led to more too.

Time to dump this scam into oblivion. 

Despite all the positive facts and news about upcoming (as we all hope) Catapult, our boat is still sinking - now we're on the #27 position on CMC, which is another "low high". Does anybody know some "reasonable reason" ? And no, "all altcoins / whole market is/are falling" isn't argue, I think - as we're falling (among with Lisk) hardest from TOP50 table (-14.09% in 7days chart) ... :-(

1/ NEM Catapult code is ready for testing and stabilisation, Elephant release came out very recently (Sept 2nd).

Latest release of NEM Catapult blockchain is now on github.

2/ IoDLT announced they have a stable NEM Catapult private network operating on IoT devices and are in validation/testing on Elephant release:

5/ Current NEM PublicChain project ProximaX announced their public testnet of Catapult is stable at 400tps over 84 nodes, some nodes were targeted at 5000-9000 tps, overall network not yet pushed to hilt. The code is standing up to load testing well

The Catapult upgrade paves the way for scaling and atomic cross-chain swaps to power private and public blockchains.

Atomic cross-chain swaps will allow companies to run private chains and create new transaction types that can then be reconciled to separate public chains. Potential examples would be patient health data,retail energy trading, and high frequency and log value internal cost movements.

Companies could store that data on private chains, but then reconcile summaries or digests up to public chains for external settlement or record keeping.
