So can I install it on a ThreadRipper running Android and mine all the blocks ;-)
https://www.android-x86.org/

-Dave

If you can install UserLand, and run 64 bits x64, yes,  android-x86 on ThreadRipper  should work too.

x86 32 bits are available on UserLand app, but NENG wallet does not support 32 bits on x86.  You might be able to compile yourself from source, but no one has test that, and it won't be supported by dev.

But on a serious note, old crappy Android phones are all over the place for just about nothing.
I wonder how difficult it would be to put together a stupid large pile of old Android phones running Cheetah miner and just dominate for almost no investment.

Just thought of it because I saw an auction of old gen phones got for almost nothing. (100+ working phones for something like $40)

-Dave

In theory, old phone might work. But in practice,  the NENG mining on CPU is quite competitive. Months ago old anroid phone was profitable, but somehow phone mining profitability dropped dramatically on v1.4.x release, and only minable for regular PCs, Macs or chromebooks.  Arm CPUs have issues.

With the coming v1.5.x releases, yes, the anroid phone mining NENG could be again quite profitable.  I can not promise on anything. NENG CPU mining is mainly for average regular users, those who want to mass mining NENG on big pile of phones run risk of own.

Final Testnet Testing Result before the v1.5.x Launch
The final testnet testing is completed for about 5 hours and 15 minutes. CPU mining only, no GPU, no ASIC.

Total minining time: 315 minutes

Cheetah difficulty = 0.00244 or 10x larger than current mainnet.

Cheetah_Cpuminer on Testnet wallet, miners:
4 core android phone, --interval 10 --cpu 6, result: 15 blocks
3 cpu linux in virtualbox, --interval 10 --cpu 3, result: 8 blocks

Total blocks mined: 23 blocks.

Average minutes per block: 13.7 minutes per blockAverage minutes per block excluding 2 minutes cheetah waiting time: 11.7 minutes per block mining time.

Just summarize the same setup (4 core phone + 3 cpu linux in VB) with different cheetah diff, mining time per block excluding 2 minutes wait:

cheetah diff = 0.000244, 2.39 minutes per block mining time, phone get 22%

Cheetah diff = 0.0078, 44.7 minutes per block mining time, phone get 56%

Cheetah diff = 0.0024, 11.7 minutes per block mining time , phone get 65%

Conclusion

Success. This cheetah diff to be raised 10 times larger will go into v1.5.0 release launch under the new name "Nengcoin" soon.

2nd Testnet Testing on Cheetah Diff at 10x
Final version of testnet testing with cheetah diff = 0.00244 is ongoing. The code can be checked out at:
https://github.com/ShorelineCrypto/nengcoin

The testnet cheetah difficulty is raised 10 times to 0.00244. If the testnet testing is passed on this, the code base will go into v1.5.x release for this cheetah diff level.

The mainnet code has been implemented, but the actual hard fork block number has not been finalized.

@everyone ANNOUNCEMENT

Hello Everyone we are doing a soft name change from NewEnglandCoin to Nengcoin with the same symbol NENG. Before we can commence on doing so we would like some feedback from the community. or  on this post to vote for the change or not. It would be awesome if we can get full participation on this as  this is a  community decision.

Big ASIC 91% of hashrate only at 46% reward

For this findblocks pool big ASIC rig point of view, the hashrate is 91% of total network, but only obtained 46% of total reward. This is because randomSpike is still in full force, penalize the big ASIC rigs/Pools and reward more for solo miners and smaller pools.

See details of screen shot and explanation:

v1.5.0 release timetime and short update

Update from discord dev channel:

honglu69Today at 9:36 PM
u/RedRaider10 u/Sefia u/will777 Let me know you guys feel the vote count on name soft change should be counted and finalized. I plan to do big push on dev coding on holiday week. Hopefully to have one final test and release the v1.5.0 by end of this month. It will have several weeks of sharing the code with v1.4.x branch, but will hard fork in Jan 2021 and after that the old wallet won't work.(edited)

v1.5.0 is major change and hard fork on NENG. One is the soft name change. Another is hard fork cheetah diff change to scale up android phone mining issue.

Observing the recent spike events. I now gravitate toward  conservative side to raise the cheetah diff. 32x or 16x is probably too much because one impact is the slowing down of hours/days after a spike block is mined. 10x raise to cheetah diff= 0.00244 seemed to be more conservative and reasonable.

Another way to think of this issue is, 10 times increase of NENG trading price, means that profit of miners rise 10 times, therefore, cheetah difficulty rise 10 times correspondingly. A more conservative hard fork using trading price as another guide line.

Alert for GPU solo miners, reset tomorrow morning
Latest projection: in about 7.5 hours from now, most likely there will be a reset to 0.000244 base difficulty at around early morning 5:30 am U.S. eastern time tomorrow.

This will be another boom for solo miners on GPU or USB ASIC. GPU solo miners can mine millions of NENG within one day on reset.

Spike Block Mined, CPU miners dominating
A spike block (diff = 244k) was mined about 7 hours ago.

Because of cheetah effect, NENG currently is only minable to CPU miners on Cheetah_Cpuminer software only. Effectively until next reset, CPU miners dominate the mining rewards close to 100%.
