MacOS Catalina - Workaround Possible

Incorrect statement below.  Just found that NENG was considered 64 bits software in macOS Mojave, so it is possible to find a workaround
for NENG in Catalina.  Work is ongoing.

How to run NENG in MacOS Catalina

NENG is 32 bits software.  Apple decided to stop supporting 32 bits in Catalina.  In comparison, we have tested
recently that NENG v1.3.0.1 windows software compiled in windows 10 (64 bits) can still be run in Windows XP professional, a very old 32 bits OS from Microsoft.

Here is useful link found on this topic:

There was some confusion created by recent android mining release v1.4.0

Please follow this youtube video from Gary:

Is Android really just Linux? - Gary explains

Not trying to create a flaming war.  Understanding the relationship between android vs linux, then you will clearly know what we
did on NENG android mining through UserLand app inside a linux terminal at almost native OS speed.

Hi,

I installed your new wallet from February today, it added blocks, but numbers of the NENG-explorer differ.
I am at block 1388205 but wallet says its only 5 hours left to being synchronized.
Otherwise, since these 5 hours it doesn't sync any further, and if I open the wallet, number of connections first rises to about 6, but then again it drops step by step to zero. Strange behaviour, despite I added the nodes from the explorer-site.
Funny also, I already mined three blocks, as I forgot to set gen=0 in the beginning, they are confirmed already up to three times, but it doesn't go on, as the wallet has connections but doesn't sync.
My question is: Why connections rise and then fall to zero, why the low chain number versus the higher in the explorer, and why is no sync possible, despite connections?

Greez,
n.

Feb version (v1.3.0) was reported to have node connection problem. Two issues with that version, one was upnp was not enabled by default for linux etc, second is seed ip was not good.

Try to download and use latest version at (released on Mar 15), keep the old data and wallet, just a software change:

base diff just reset to very low level. boom for GPU or USB ASIC solo miners.

2 days ago base diff already reset. 2nd time in couple of days.

Is there any documentation, other then reading though everything in github about the requirements for the difficulty reset to the low numbers?
I just did a quick look through the thread and did not see anything see anything about it.

-Dave

Base Difficulty reset is controlled by  big ASIC rigs.  You can predict that base diff reset will come soon as soon as the difficulty level rose to a high level, say diff=10,  then suddenly big ASIC rigs left.  Then CPU Cheetah usually only dominate for 1 to 2 days, then reset.

I found explorer is the easiest way to know what is going on because explorer report base difficulty.  Some times the current difficulty is only
0.000244 created by CPU cheetah miner, you can go back to the link of the prior blocks to find the base diff.  You will need a desktop computer to find base diff, I found cell phone mobile page skip those info on explorer:
http://nengexplorer.mooo.com:3001/

In GUI or CLI wallet,  "getmininginfo"  command report the base difficulty level.

Documentation is on the github code and my explanation of prior white paper and reports.  CPU Cheetah runs around 3 to 4 minutes per block, the target time desired by NENG algorithm is 1 minute per block.  CPU cheetah domination means reset is coming soon because 3 minutes is way longer than desired 1 minute target.

Another math factor is every 1440 blocks reset.  You can divide the current block number divided by this 1440 to know the left over blocks and times.  The explorer provide this information there but you have to do the math your self to know the left over time.

When I say big ASIC controlling this reset, they are truly controlling. If big ASIC rigs keep mining even on high base diff, the reset will not come soon.  In history, the longest reset comes after two weeks in stead of every 1 week.  But we got some times two three reset in one week, controlled too by big ASICs, some times big GPU solo miners control this too when the base diff is low range (~ 1) and reset from there.

I think CPU cheetah solo miners do not control this because CPU solo miners are mining NENG for profit.  For sure GPU/ASIC left, CPU cheetah will pound on mining for sure, but their domination is doomed to have reset because of every 1440 reset, verses long block time by CPUs.

Has the core security evaluation part been completed? It is my honest conviction that there was nothing in this coin to remotely seem like security. I doubt there was any evaluation in the first place. Coin just scrabbles around in your backyard like a dwarf in diapers and does nothing besides that. Betwixt this coins life and its death is a hair-think edge about to be broken.

Not sure what you are referring to on "security evaluation".  We are evaluating ourselves too on the randomSpike results.  So far is very good for couple of past months operation.

In terms of code, it is open source start with exact clone of litecoin at version v0.8.7.5.  Later changes are in github. here is summary of major version changes and features on README front page:
https://github.com/ShorelineCrypto/NewEnglandCoin/tree/v1.4.x_MobileMining

The feature of protection against 51% attack through decentralized mining rigs is still experimental.  But for sure is that NENG is the only scrypt coin that diversified miners on CPUs, GPUs, ASICs are on it, and soon on Android Phones.  Potentially there are billions of android phone users in the world, hopefully the new features will attract a lot more user bases into NENG.

I am now a NENG billionaire
NSr8vGT6guHGWg1ya7quiFFd7VyHzP8HW2 is mine http://nengexplorer.mooo.com:3001/richlist

Thank you honglu69 for making a nice CPU mining coin and keeping it alive and doing something with it.
Now it's time for me to try to get the #2 position.

Side note, in addition to the 2 node / 1 node & 1 pool solution for the Moonlander mining issue. You can also set BFGminer to output to a log.
Then with a bit of programming scan the log once a minute and restart BFG if you see the dead pool message.

Took a bit of tweaking and still not working 100% but I am guessing someone with more time & better skills could do it in under a hour.

-Dave

Congratulations for NENG billionaires!  I mined a lot myself with GPU/Moonlander2 and a billionaire too on NENG.

Before I found the rotate method on Futurebit Moonlander2, I was doing a hard way, every hour kill the bfgminer and restart.  Not fun.  Some times my MLD2 missed one hour during
reset day, a lot of coins missed.  Rotate method actually is easy.   Wallet data files folder can be copied over from one node to another, no syncing issue too.
