We thought about allowing instant deposit (not requiring the 1 confirm) and agree it would be a great feature. Unfortunately there is a security issue in doing so that would allow for fraudulent behavior on the site (involves how the Bitcoin protocol works and the double spend problem). So, we elected to require that first confirmation before betting can begin.
Regarding withdrawals, we really have to wait for the full 6 confirms before we disperse funds in order to be certain the deposit was valid. Otherwise, we stand the chance of servicing withdrawals on deposits that end up invalid.
As for the scratch performance, it is related to where you are in the world relative to our server farm. Although we do distribute most page content using internet CDNs and edge technology, certain interactions do require a round trip to our servers. The performance will vary depending on where you are. Unfortunately, not much we can do about that.
