Interesting idea, it would be better to setup a miner on a reservation then just give currency.  Teach a man to fish and all that.
The whole crypto thing is still an unfolding mystery so managing to spread that word at all would be a real big thing to do also smart because possibly you are establishing a valid user base for your currency much like bigger crypto coins are used internationally to transcend borders and cultures to aid comparative advantage

European traders and politicians, using beads and trinkets, often exploited gift exchange to gain Native American favor or territory. With the scarcity of metal coins in New England, Wampum quickly evolved into a formal currency after European/Native contact, it's production greatly facilitated by slender European metal drill bits. Wampum was mass produced in coastal southern New England. The Narragansetts and Pequots monopolized the manufacture and exchange of wampum in this area.

"Strung money was known as wampumpeage, or merely peage. Customarily arranged in lengths of one fathom (6 feet), which contained anywhere from 240 to 360 individual beads, depending not only on the size of the beads but on their current worth, for "fathom" soon came to denote a specific monetary value. Individual strands were then worked into bands from one to five inches wide, to be worn on the wrist, waist, or over the shoulder, ... Occasionally the Indians fashioned great belts containing over ten thousand beads" (Vaughan 1979: 120 124).

With the increased manufacture after European contact, these beads were carried inland along indigenous trade routes as far as the Great Plains and as far south as Virginia. By the 1700's the Dutch Europeans began to fabricate vast quantities in factories such as the Campbell wampum factory New York.

"The use of wampum as money, even among the English, continued until the American Revolution. Important matters such as treaty agreements were likely to be marked by an exchange of Wampum belts, with designs in two colors, which thereafter served as visual reminders of the event itself, and to call to memory the arrangements agreed on" (Russel 1980: 185

you opinion is not based on historical facts.
Much of the copy from the wampumcoin.com website is taken directly from wikipedia.

If you read a book about wampum, you will find that it was never a currency. People did not buy their wife, did not buy peace.
Wampum is a covenant... A contract. It was the white settlers who tried to buy wampum with money.

By stealing from the native people, and not giving back to them, the cycle of injustice continues.

I've never read the "copy from the wampumcoin.com website" or its supposed source on Wikipedia. I have however, been to Foxwoods casino, where their "money" is called Wampum. (Or, at least was -- I haven't been there in years). Which is all I said in my post. Who needs to read...?

Oh, and not to get too picky, but every time you walk into a store, there is a "covenant" or "contract". You want those skittles? The store is willing to trade you for a green piece of paper. If you negotiate, maybe you can swap cigarettes for them or clean the rest rooms for them, but most people decide to contract with the store for a piece of green paper.

...or either of you could read a book.

Oh my goodness! Did you insult me? I can't really tell as I can barely read. I'm pretty sure that was an insult though...

wampum is not currency. Do your research. Wampum is an "oath" or a "word" but mostly a covenant.
Where in your plan are you giving back to the First Nation people? GIVE THE PREMINE TO THE RESERVATIONS

That's odd, because the Indian-owned casino, Foxwoods in Connecticut uses Wampum as their "money". I think you better write them immediately and have them get "researching'!

What is Wampum?

Wampum are traditional shell beads of the Eastern Woodlands tribes of the indigenous people of North America. Wampum include the white shell beads fashioned from the North Atlantic channeled whelk shell; and the white and purple beads made from the quahog, or Western North Atlantic hard-shelled clam. Wampum were used as money, and were kept on strings like Chinese cash. Strings of wampum were also used instead of writing, and were created to record treaties or historical events. European colonists used wampum for trading with Native Americans, and adopted it as their own currency.

Launch date is Feb 22, 2014

Wallets will be coming shortly, along with a lot more info.  Sign up to the newsletter for fast updates leading up to the launch.

Website: www.wampumcoin.com

Pools: are coming soon also but we are definitely going to use livechains as one of the miner pools.

Exchanges:  We are talking to some well know exchanges, but we have to launch before we are listed.  So this will be updated as well.

Faucets:  Of course we will have these, this coin is all about trading!

Other issues that I would like to talk about

Pre-mine--There was a pre-mine for one reason only, and that was to be able to pay sales reps.  At WampumCoin we have a bigger picture in mind than most coins out there right now.  We are currently establishing relationships with online and offline businesses to see if they are willing to accept Wampum as payment for goods and services!  If you google wampum there are a lot of businesses that already use the name wampum and know all about it.  So getting established with certain businesses will not be hard to do.  I want to see this coin thrive  and grow.  This is the reason for the pre-mine.  The reps I hired were willing to take payment in wampum instead of dollars.  These reps will go out and introduce this coin and establish relationships that will last a long time.  This pre-mine will not be dumped on the exchanges for a profit but, will be used instead in exchange for services to grow the coin as fast as possible in the market place!
So if you have a skill that would help wampum grow send me a PM or even better go onto the facebook page and like it and post your skill and what you can do for wampum.  In exchange for your skill you will be paid wampum at the time of launch!

The pre-mine was not to benefit myself it was just to grow the wampum community and be able to pay for labor in Wampum.  It just makes sense as that was Wampums orignial purpose!  I want this coin to be around for a long time and for that to happen there needs to be a community.
