No offense but someone can confirm that the wallet is safe to use? 
I scanned the wallet in VirusTotal and it gave no hits, which is a good sign. However, it is very easy to attach an undetectable trojan to any file using cheap CrypterFUD software. So you can run the wallet, but you should do so on a dedicated machine, or a virtual machine (look for some for free download), or a sandbox like Sandboxie (there's a free version out there).

That's exactly right-- at this time, there's no guarantee KUC will have value based on the promises in the ANN. So the people choosing to mine it are doing so speculatively, on their assessment of the chances of those promises (and their assumed future value) becoming a reality.
