Brand new to this - trying to understand it as we speak.
I'm testing the water running Asteroid to mine litecoin and altcoins on OSX on my imac.
It's working, but very slow - clearly I need GPU rigs if I'm serious about trying this.

I'm really just trying to understand the whole economy/ecology of bitcoin/altcoins better and this seems like a good place to start.

Hi All,

Running three smaller rigs here in a dodgy-ish DIY tower configuration(similar to the milk crates)... Will be running 4 once I get my Sapphire R9 280X back from RMA.

Miner 1(740kh/s);
Intel Core I3 3120, 4gb ram, MSI BF4 Edition R9 280X

Miner 2(1.4-1.5MH/s);
AMD FX-8130(Surprise, it actually chews less power when mining than an '09 model Athlon x2 AM3 by about 30-40w!... but don't CPU mine on it...) 8gb ram
1x Sapphire R9 280X
1x Gigabyte R9 280X

Miner3(430kh/s);
Intel Core I3 3120, 4gb ram, ASUS R9 270X

Then a really old smaller file server with a GTX 650Ti in it that gets about 100kh/s, I leave that just mining multipool for doge.

At the moment getting around 0.06-0.08BTC per day, with electricity and a decent(over $650) exchange rate I'm making about $25 after electricity per day.

I mine because I'm on holidays and it's a challenge, once the ride is over I'll sell all but 1 of the R9 280X's which will be excellent for gaming :-)

Regards,

Matt

New to mining here as well.  I've only been at it for about a week.

My old gaming rig is as follows:
EVGA x58 FTW
i7 930 @ 4.05
EVGA 580gtx @ 850/1700/2050 mining @ 260ish
12gig of DDR3 @ 1500 (underclocked)

New rig I'm building, assuming TigerDirect ever ships me the stuff I paid for

Asus Hero VI
i7 4770k w/c
(2) r9 290 w/c
ax 1200i PSU
Astro A40 headphones
16gigs of DDR3

Considering a mining rig of 3x R9 280x........now to find them

Hi,

I am running 2 "Case"-Rigs.

The first one is a system consisting of an amd HD 6850 and a HD 5870 (650 kh/s)
The second one is my main system:
GPU: r9 280x Gigabyte rev. 2
CPU (but not mining): i5 2500K
Mainboard: Asrock Pro3 Gen3

Despite of many forum posts I´ve managed to get the GPU of my second system to 730 kh/s max. If you have any questions of how I managed that, please feel free to ask Smiley

Just 1x lonely 7870 for now. I'm new to this obviously so no reason to tax my CPU (1055T... waiting for the 4770k to arrive in the mail for the last part of my upgrade...) for the marginal gains I could get from it. Performance sure is better than the last time I tried mining a couple years ago on my own without a pool and with just my CPU. I just remember it was frustrating lol.

I do have a couple older 67xx cards laying around somewhere I guess I could throw in there...

Hi, this is my current setup.

2x Asus Radeon r9 280X
MB Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 with 6 PCIe (for future upgrades)
CPU AMD FX-6300 3.5 GHz
8 GB RAM

I have stable avg. 1515 kH/s (761+754) in CGminer with these two cards.
Under volt at 1.150
GPU engine 1095 and 1090 Mhz
thread at 8192
-I 13

I had issues with running MSI afterburner and GPU tweak at the same time, seems like tweaking SW that access the cards will mess up the performance.
Best is to leave the PC and don't touch it to get stable rates.

1 x 7970
4 x 7870
1 x R9 280x

running on multiple configs of machines. getting around 2.5mhash mining scrypt.

I'd be interested to know what you're getting from your single 280x and what config you're using if you'll be happy to post it ?

I've got a small set of rigs going :

2x 7950's
4x 7970's
2x 7990's
4x R9 290's

All based on an ASRock 970 Extreme 4 mobo (yeah yeah I know) with 4Gb ram and a AMD X3 445 CPU. They run steady as a rock and I get around 10Mh/s from the lot. I'm sure I can push the 290's further, but they only arrived today. Something I look forward to tweaking, if anyone has a decent config for them (I've seen a few already) ?

Sure the room is noisy, but it's also music to my ears Wink
