Im suggesting to bring back the old type of ranking system but this time the posts of every members of the forum should be monitored first before it can be converted into "ACTIVITY"
Im just suggesting. Long live bitcointalk.org God bless to all and thanks
Mod doesn't have much time about this, what's important is your goal and just follow the rules that already exist, all matters finished.

The big question is who will monitor the post?

Most likely the moderators will monitor it.  The great disadvantage of this suggestion is that this is very taxing to the moderators.  The moderators are busy in so many things already (e.g. approving application of merit sources, recovery of hacked account, reviewing the report for ban/temporary ban, etc).  If you will add another work for them, I think they will die of fatigue or over exhausting themselves.

The merit system is really working and yes there are so many things that need to improve.  Just give it time because it is only in the incubation period.

Sooner or later, there will be more merit sources to help the circulation of merit.  As I browse the Meta, there are so many high-ranked members contributing to the discussion and the improvement of the said system.

So let us just be patient and soon the system will be perfected.

I've just quickly checked the OP's post history. It worths no merit yet, but it seems OP has already received 1 merit from someone, and it's just enough to become a Jr. member to be able to participate in the campaigns, so mission has been accomplished for OP.
I think OP can lock the topic before it becomes a spamfest...

The big question is who will monitor the post? by the way do you know how many members we have in this forum? and How many post been made per day? your suggestion is no way near possible because mods won't have time to monitor post here. The best option is what the mods have taken so far by implementing a merit system, I believe they have thought about it for a long while before implementing it. And meriting a post is just for the merit source members, or high rank members, so I believe the more low rank members who receives merits; gives out their smerit to other members, then merit distribution in the forum will balance, it will take a while but it will balance.

I have a better idea though, why not we still keep the forum's merit system and apply your idea where post are reviewed before being converted and counted into an activity point? With this way it will be harder for spammers and shitposters to rank up. LOL!!!! I am just joking reverting back to the old system even adding your idea is never good I cannot even call it as an improvement, we don't even have the manpower (moderators, staffs, and admins) to manually review all the shitpost being posted here. Please do no praise the merit system again if you want to remove it in the first place.

These people have fantastic imagination, imagining of those themes needs a talant too lol.
OP what about blockchain based ranking system? Or merit system where everyone has to prove that you deserve one merit.
C'mon man, there is no way to prevent spam and it's not so necessary too, it's a little bit funny when you see how others seriously post threads like bitcoin causes dehydratation and etc stupid things.
No one in real life was able to prevent crime, so in virtual world always someone will spam.

Why would we not just trash all the spam before it was ever posted?

Yes, a good reason. Moderators could analyze the post before publication, and only after approval, let the comment go "into circulation". The first problem  this suggestion faces and which has already been mentioned is a huge amount of work that moderators can’t either do at all or they will perform it for a very long time, which will block the traffic of the forum, since the posts will have stand in line to be checked. And this process cannot be automated; it requires the presence of the human factor.

Secondly, it gives unlimited power to moderators. Only them decide whether to publish your post or not, without giving any warranty. Thus, the entire “business” on the forum suffers, first of all, bounty campaigns (I agree, maybe this would help to solve the spam problem to some extent, but I`m sure that we`ll find other ways to answer this question). It`s quite possible that corruption may arise on the forum: participants will need to write posts for signature campaigns, and the latter, in turn, need assurance that the posts will be written by participants. Only a moderator can provide these guarantees. That is, all issues can only be resolved through him.

I think this assumption contradicts the basic principles of this forum, which was built on the foundation of trust, mutual respect, autonomy and freedom of speech.

Just because its my first time to post in meta it does means that i have no rights to be merited at all? Insane.

No, it's because every single one of your posts is either a spammy, low value, one liner with zero original thought, or reporting to some trash bounty. That's why you will not be merited.

Woah, this is way impossible. There are millions (thousands?) of members here and million of posts are being generated every day and monitoring every one of their posts is a suicide and just a waste of time. How can you come up to idea like this? By just forecasting the possible outcome of your idea well its a total waste of time, really. Moderators can't even stand to monitor and ban other spammers without concerned member's reports and how do you think that they can monitor such millions of posts? Our Moderators are humans, not robots who can can execute millions of codes in just an instant.

All those "bounty reports and related to it, those non-sense one/two liners, off-topics, super poor english grammar and so on and so forth will be counted as POSTS but it wont be included and counted as an ACTIVITY
Actually, activity is not important to spammers and twitbook hunters. As long as they can post links of their daily reports then they have no problem at all. So even if this one is applied, nothing will change.

This is just a start and you upper ranks already criticizing us for making some senseful topic.

You have been here for 6 months, but have never earned a merit, which means you don't know what constitutes a meritorious post. It also means you've never awarded a merit. You've never partaken in any of the many, many discussions regarding the merit system up until this point. You have zero insight in to the merit system, but within hours of it removing your raison d'etre, you show up with a frankly ridiculous suggestion to change it in your favor so you can continue your bounty spamming.

The criticism is warranted.

It isnt our fault if we post our bounty reports because it was in every rule of the campaign.

Right. Because the only option available to you is to flood the forum with your bounty spam. There's no way you could just, you know, not do that.

Different types of people are here in this forum, some were still student that only take this forum as a part time job in doing bounty, they cant focus that too much because of study and also they were still learning about bitcoin and cryptocurrency. It takes too much time to have a knowledge about it the same with being in this forum especially in meta where we still in the process of learning. Im here now in meta because this is the hot topic right now.

Wanna ask you? what is really merit? how can someone earn a merit? Just because its my first time to post in meta it does means that i have no rights to be merited at all? Insane.

Moderators try their best to maintain the forum from getting spammed, but they can't monitor every post that everyone makes here everyday that's impossible. We even have the report to moderator button and that's not enough to maintain the spam.

The requirement was enforced because there's too much spam caused by Jr members. Going back to the old merit requirement won't stop the spam.  Your suggestion doesn't help curb the spam it would just discourage spammers to spam in the altcoin boards and move to a different board for their posts to get counted.

Commended and appreciated. A very well said opinion that isnt biased nor criticizing. Not disrespecting my post at all. Thank you mate.

Given that this is your first ever post on meta, and it just so happened to come on the same day that you lost the ability to spam the forum with your bounty campaign, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and call this a poorly disguised beg for merit.

Regardless, it would be far too much work for the mods. Additionally, if we did have the man power to manually review every post before it was posted, why would we let the spam through but remove its activity? Why would we not just trash all the spam before it was ever posted?

Yeah it was my first and arent you happy with that? This is just a start and you upper ranks already criticizing us for making some senseful topic. Didnt you ever started to have post for the first time in meta? Everyone has started with first and this might goes on. These people always hating on bounty hunter, why dont you guys remove the bounty campaign at all? It isnt our fault if we post our bounty reports because it was in every rule of the campaign.

Im just suggesting sir.

Where were all these newbies when we were all discussing changes to bitcointalk in Meta for the past few months?  They sure didn't seem to care before changes were actually made.

I assume most of the bounty campaigns don't pay out for posts in Meta, so most of them will never even have clicked on this board before.

The split seems fairly 50/50 with the fishing for merits today - half the newbies complaining about the new system and offering some thoughtless alternative, and half the newbies praising the new system but suggesting it doesn't go far enough. I can't decide which side is more ridiculous.

Ok, and who will monitoring them? You should know that there are new millions posts each day, we can't do this.
