GPU mining will never die!  Cheesy

Basically, once btc difficulty hits the roof, switch to ltc.

When ltc mining stops being profitable, switch to either:
a) GPU-based Render Farm
b) Distributed Computing Simulator for Cancer Research
c) Password Cracking

Yeah that is the idea. My cousin us doing LTC right now because he is making more money doing LTC than BTC.

Thank, I will update you guys when I am done building the systems.

Do you guys use anything special to track the systems? I have an iPhone and I would like to check on the status of the computers while I am at work.

If you plan on mining Litecoins later when Bitcoin difficulty hits the roof, its a good system.

My biggest thing is something that i will never get my money back if this thing goes down. Those usb interrupts seem great but if the coin market does you will have useless USB drives.

I mean to each their own, but I can't afford to throw money at something knowing that is it goes down i won't get anything for them. That happened to me with the Satellite modding business. I bought all of this equipment and then it went down for good and I never made a profit and I could not sell the equipment.

I went ahead and ordered 2 systems

2 1000w PSU
2 MOBO with FM2 PROCs
2 HD
2 Heatsink and fans
4 MSI prozr cards
4 2GB sticks of ram

Hopefully by the end of the week I will have these 2 running.

A good tip would be that USB Eruptors have dropped price and are selling for 1 BTC now. This is good as a substitute for GPUS.
Yes the price is realy tempting and you don't need to buy expensive pc to run it.
Tell my please can i buy it and receive them to poland ?
I have some money to invest and i will be able to buy about 10 USB Eruptors.

On the other hand, there are several people that are making boards that will take BFL Chips that they are selling that is also a good option =)

Heres a USB Eruptor miner group:

They get 336 mh/s

I am not going to lie profit is the main reason why I want to do this. I also enjoy the building process of systems. I just bought a house and don't exactly have the cash to go out and spend 3k on building 3-4 systems to mine on.

I took the chance and bought one of the 5GH miners and I am willing to wait while I build a system to get familiar with mining. I am going to build one since I already have a 850w power supply and ram. I just need to buy a motherboard and some video cards.

Hey Zack are these the cards you use? http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7566387&CatId=8754

I want something local that I can get at Compusa or tiger direct. I can probably start with a system that runs 3 video cards. with the 850 PSU

all my gpus are >  http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1157&pid=1547&lid=1

if you have a good psu you can run 3 7950s on a 850w psu ( if its a good brand )

if you have any questions ask me

I'm not telling you to risk, but if you are not willing to risk, you cannot expect high profit.
On the other hand, there is nt much you can do right now.
No way to buy 1st hand Avalon anymore, if you order from BFL you will have to wait several months, and USB miners are still little overpriced (even after recent 50% discount).

And the most important thing - if you going only for profit, best option is to buy bitcoins directly. But if you are fan of technology surrounding the bitcoin ecosystem, feel free to mine on whatever you want. It's fun.

I was just looking to buy 1 or 2 of the 5GH units. Don't want to spend that much in case something gets screwed up I only lost 600 bucks.

We have a decent setup with 4 5970s water cooled and currently mining about .085 btc/day. Its not bad, considering the cards were just sitting there previously.

getting into mining bitcoins is bad yes, unless you have much capital to invest in asic..... even then we may be heading for very low mining profitability and even negative profitibility
