hi, i just joined the crypto market, and was referred to this forum so i can learn better and can learn from on this forum. I have some questions please help me answer it:
- I have an initial capital of $5000, what coin should I invest in for the long term?
- How to avoid easy scam coins?
...

5000 is a fairly good amount. In this case, you have to be careful to invest, you are surrounded by scammers, you have to analyze yourself to invest, first acquire some knowledge about crypto by yourself, then by researching you can find the best sector to invest for you .
Now you can take a good look at  trading sector.

If you are willing to lose it, and want to take bigger risks then you should be focusing on lower cap ones. When you go to a website like coinmarketcap, or coingecko there you will see the market cap of the coins and they are ranked based on that. Which means that if a coin is 1st in the rankings (bitcoin) then it has a lower chance of going 10x, it still does it, we have seen it recently, but it is a lot more rare.

But, if it is 89th or whatever, or even lower, then going 10x could be easier, obviously both can do that only in big bull runs. But if you do not want to risk anything, then picking 5 coins out of top 10 (not stable coins) then you should be fine and hold it for many years.

This is not a place to ask what coins are worth investing in, this is a forum to learn what and how to invest, you should be careful asking what coin to invest in if you're a newbie because this forum is full of promoters of pump and dump coins and by asking you're inviting them to victimize you.

My advice is to read, roam around think and be objective don't believe in all you read until you've done your research, investing in Cryptocurrency is not easy, the market is highly volatile and other people are not responsible if you invest in the wrong coin because of their suggestion.

How to avoid easy scams?
Just invest your money in bitcoin and ether and there you go, you can keep yourself away from the scams. I think being new person on the forum you should head over to beginners section where you will have amazing topics to learn from. I don’t know how much faster you can gain the topics but there are versatile topics. Whether it’s trading, buying coins, mining, understanding blockchain and more you can gain everything.

But don’t just fall for the other coins just as of now. Learn, then invest.

for long term investment bitcoin and ethereum is the best choice. but with 5000$ I don't think it's good. maybe you can buy other altcoins like solana, Terra, Avalanche, BNB, Polkadot, Polygon, or Cardano which are cheaper.

the easy way don't buy coins outside the best 100 list on coinmarketcap. and don't invest in new projects. although there are many projects that can buy ROI of more than 100% but not a few also end up rugpull. so don't invest in new projects.

Diversify your fund and don't invest in one coin. Bitcoin and Eth should be included in your investment. Both are for long term.
30% for Luna,Sol,Dot,ADA and Avax.

Don't buy any coin which are not listed on binance. You are new to crypto so I recommend you to buy only those coins which already available on binance.

- I have an initial capital of $5000, what coin should I invest in for the long term?
Though it was stated above that you shouldn't rely on other suggestions regarding financial advice but here's my opinion regarding your questions.

Since you're talking about investment in the long term, choose a project that has been proven, tested, decentralized, and very volatile that has fast-moving in the market.  IMO, Bitcoin is the first choice and as others said, this potentially will have profit in a long term.

These are my opinions,
  • Always DYOR
  • Don't trust a hype project
  • Always prefer on the decentralized concept
  • Have a real use project
thanks bro, i will consider your advice, little but understandable. And currently, which project do you feel is meeting the opinions you just mentioned above?

Hi and welcome mate. For a starter, $5000 is a good amount of money to put in cryptocurrency.
Well, you can just buy any top coin with small amount first, sometimes we need to learn from our mistake.
The important thing is, we don't buy wrong coin/token, double check smart contract address when we want to buy token, secure our wallet, avoid phishing. If we can avoid those common mistakes, it just a matter of time until we find some good coin/token to buy.

Since you are trying to avoid easy scam coins its better to buy BTC, some newbies don't care about their capital safety they like gambling with new coins and tokens, this trick has good results too but is way too risky for a newbie, stick with BTC for now.

You need to refrain from investing and study cryptocurrencies starting from the basics. Only based on the acquired knowledge will you be able to make decisions on your own. Otherwise, you can easily make a mistake in choosing a coin and the time to invest, which will entail the loss of your capital.

You should diversify into bitcoin some of the top altcoins.
Actually, for long-term investment plans, it is preferable to read the fundamental factors well rather than the volatility performance. However, you can also analyze their charts in recent years based on historical price and marketcap volumes in conclusion.
thank you for the advice, i will look into this, probably good to learn and invest in a coin anyway.

$5000, just put it into bitcoin, eth & solana & forget about it until retirement age. You should make a lot of money that way but your capital isn’t enough to get rich short term. You are going to need to HODL for likely two decades.
solana is a new concept to me, I don't know what good is solana so I can invest this coin?

Are you ready to lose this 5000$? If anything goes wrong can you move on and not be let down because of your money? This is why I warn newbies not to use money that they can't afford to lose on crypto investment, since you are knew to crypto BTC is the best one to start with.
i willing to lose it, but when it comes to investing what value does it bring to me, knowledge - experience or anything in the long run I can apply when participating in the cryptocurrency market  Cry

5000$ is the amount of money already that I want to invest and spend it to learn new knowledge. I can still accept the risk of losing if it brings something of value to me.

Question 1: let this be part of what you learn from this thread that you Don't let people choose for you in which coin you should buy, rather seek that suggestions on a listed coins from you and ask for the benefits of each of them.

Question 2. Firstly don't believe in hype without your own research, don't be lead by unsearchable greedy, ask questions when lost.

5000 is a good amount, if you are new to trading, then take the trade with a little thought, because a little wrong decision can lead to a big loss.  If you want to trade for long term then you can invest by looking at the coin which is listed in good exchanger (Like -Binance , Ku-coin etc) and its trade volume.

- I have an initial capital of $5000, what coin should I invest in for the long term?
You must go to the legit coins. I just suggest you to get into the top 200 CMC. These tokens have strong fundamental compared with the coins placed below it. As a newbie and you must think about the wise decision to get an investment without involving a big risk. You can pick some from top 200 CMC as your candidates and try to do your own research to make sure you are picking the best one from your list.

YOu must not be greedy. majority of scam coins placed at hundreds or thousands. You must not also fall into the non sense APY offered by the scam token.

First and foremost, welcome to the Bitcointalk forum. I'm confident you've come to the proper place to find answers to practically all of your Bitcoin and cryptocurrency-related questions.
In regard to the question you ask on which crypto coin you are to invest in, I will advise you to take your own time and get a detailed knowledge on what cryptocurrency and trading is all about, after that you on your own will know which one to go for.

This is my personal suggestion to you. You can check the top coins in https://coinmarketcap.com/ you should choose around the top 10 or 5 coins they are good for long term investment and don't stick with one coin, it is smart to divide your $5,000 to buy different coins.

To avoid scam coins, it is easy. Avoid high yield coins, low market cap coins, meme coins and pump and dump coins. Stick with top coins and always do your own research, try to explore the forum and read I can guarantee you that you will learn a lot here.
