Maybe I missed it but I think the "Newbie requirements" should be part of the sign-up process even so that you don't have to navigate the whole forum just find out why you can't post.

You missed it Smiley

Most people speed-click through that stuff though... I missed it too.

...aaaaaand that should be the end of my sentence. So long, suckers!  FREEEEEEDDOOOOOOOM!  Smiley

Almost worse than military basic where you aren't allowed to talk to the "superior" trainees until you've earned the right to do so. (Which is kind of never, until you become the superior trainee).
Interesting concept though. And I agree with so many before me, this needs to be somehow marked a critical thread and show up near the top of the forums front page as to be more inviting to all the new people who are wondering why they can read all this great info but can't put in their two sense.

Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have spent 4 hours online and have made 5 posts (new topics or replies).

If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting in the appropriate topic.

Also:
- Newbies cannot upload their own avatars.
- You must have made one post in order to send PMs.
- You need 10 posts to put a link in your signature.

Note that it may take up to 10 minutes for your PM or posting permissions to be granted. (The system automatically checks every 10 minutes and promotes people as appropriate.)

Thank you for the info.

Wow. I've never been so depressed about registering for something in my life. I feel like I've been sent to prison.

Hooray for my first post as a nobody - I mean, newbie.

I don't know, I think it's pretty rewarding to get let out out of here, through this hurdle, to get let into the promised land. . And they don't have much an alternative in the matter.

The restrictions are good for the forum, but poorly communicated.

It has only taken me 3 hrs and 46 mins to find out how to post.

I suppose this newb forum is necessary, but after lurking for some time I can honestly say there are still a ton of 2yr olds posting in your forums. My goodness, the insane and egomaniacal come out of the woodwork. Do the Mods have a ban hammer or just not care?  If not care, then why the newb forum?

The "Newbie" forum should definitely be at the top of the list, instead of buried under "Other".  I flash-read the TOS, and just as I was clicking "accept" my eyes caught some words about not being able to post...  It took a while to figure out what I had to do.  It was of course my own fault... but it would be nice if the system was a bit more "newb friendly".
