This thread should be a bit more obvious to new people around.
I lost my avatar after updating my profile recently and thought it was some technical issue, not very cool.
Maybe this tread should be sent as private message to new people around... in case that doesn't happen already ^^

^^ I agree with this.  It was very confusing as to why I couldn't make a post on a thread that sent me to this forum in the first place  Smiley

Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have spent 4 hours online and have made 5 posts (new topics or replies).

If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting in the appropriate topic.

Also:
- Newbies cannot upload their own avatars.
- You must have made one post in order to send PMs.
- You need 10 posts to put a link in your signature.

Note that it may take up to 10 minutes for your PM or posting permissions to be granted. (The system automatically checks every 10 minutes and promotes people as appropriate.)

"if you have spent 4 hours online"?

What? So after having a few posts, I would need to be logged in for 4 hours here? Do I understand this right?

I support enforcement of a system that maintains a healthy signal to noise ratio.
I don't have a problem with the newbie policy.

I seem to be not able to post in anywhere else, even though I made >5 posts, and have been on here for 4 hours?

EDIT: Maybe it hasn't been 4 hours, just forgot about the auto-logout thing, so perhaps not

Suggestion:

It would be nice to let the new users know this with some kind of pop-up after registration.

there is a total time logged in , top left screen
